Trumpet Lessons in Chesapeake. Amazing Teachers.

Students will learn proper breath control, ear training, theory, how to clean the instrument, and playing and readying skills.

Experienced Trumpet teacher of 5 years available for eager students of all experience levels! I structure my lessons so students learn what they want to learn, while also building a strong foundation of technical ability and excellent musicianship. I specialize in concert band and orchestral styles of music, however I can teach jazz styles as well. For beginning students I typically use Measures of Success Book #1. For intermediate students I recommend Standard of Excellence book #2 and book #3.

I have spent over 12 years studying trumpet. During this time I have focused on jazz and it's impact on pop, rock, and R&B music. Coupled with my expertise as a lead singer, I can take your performance skills and stage presence to the next level. I also work great with kids, creating a fun learning environment to get them excited about different styles of music.

Experienced trumpet teacher/professional player of ten years. My goal is to inspire and help each of my students grow with custom tailored lessons primarily using exercises which I create specifically for each student. I make sure that all my students have a very strong understanding of the foundation and basics of trumpet playing so they learn to play the correct way from the start. I am well versed in many genres new and old from jazz and classical to funk, pop, reggae and hip-hop. Students must have their own instrument. I provide a music stand and blank staff paper for students coming to my home location while students I drive to must have music stand.

Taking trumpet lessons online is a great option at this time. I have taught private trumpet lessons for 47 years and have been a band instructor in the public schools. Trumpet was my primary instrument, so I am able to relate to students very well when taking lessons. I emphasize good technique, sight-reading skills, improvisation and applying these skills to repertoire in preferred styles.

I recently retired, after 37 years of teaching beginners through high school age students. In addition, I have remained active my entire life as a Trumpet player, performing in orchestras, concert bands, jazz ensembles, brass ensembles and as a soloist throughout the Twin Cities area. Many of my students (hundreds!) have auditioned and qualified for All-State Bands, honor bands, college scholarships, etc. My goals as a teacher: help the student learn to love making music on the Trumpet, help them increase their Trumpet skills significantly and help them grow as a happy person exploring the fun and exciting world of music!
