I have a wealth of experience as a trumpeter and music teacher, and hold three degrees in music: DMA from Univ. of Georgia, MM from UT-Austin, and BM from N. Dakota State Univ. I am trained mostly in and play primarily "classical" trumpet, but have experience performing and teaching jazz and pop/commercial styles. Working with kids and adults on music is enjoyable and fulfilling, and I strive to help students as much as possible.
About Chris
My name is Chris, and I have been playing trumpet for over twenty years. I grew up in the TX public schools and was a two time TMEA All-State Musician. I hold three degrees in music from accredited universities: DMA at UGA, MM at UT-Austin, BM at NDSU. I enjoy teaching and helping others, and have

Trumpet lessons are all inclusive!
Lessons are broken down into multiple areas that guide you through all aspects of how to play trumpet.
1. Recommended Listening - Let's find what you like to listen to, and let's explore similar and unsimilar music. Exposure is the key to learning.
2. Let's learn how brass instruments work. Trumpeters have to learn how to use their air, lips, and musicality as a way to make the trumpet easy to play... Think of this as the pushups and situps of the trumpet. We have to do them in order to make the instrument playable.
3. Let's learn how music works - Music Theory lets us understand music. This is like learning the alphabet. Once you learn the alphabet, we can learn to spell, write, and read. Once you understand music theory, music becomes much more organized and easier to understand.
4. Let's learn the music you want to learn, and use the music you like to give you assignments that will help you learn appropriately.

I enjoy nurturing musical creativity in my
students.
It is Rapturous for me when a student realizes
their own musicality by going past just
playing the notes on the page, to actively
expressing the Message (which could be a
Thought, Emotion, or a Scene) that is
inherent in the piece.
In a Brass instrument lesson, I have the student play:
-A quick and effective warm-up with me.
-A quick review of their assigned
technical exercises.
-Their assigned Etude or Chart or Solo.
-A Duet with Me.
Technical aspects of Performance:
1. A mastery of ability to Sight Sing.
2. Clean Articulation.
3. A wide (and well-sounding) Range.
4. Moving between partials is Flexible.
5. A beautiful Tone.
I wish for my students to become more than
just good instrumentalists, I want for them
to always have fun with music. When a
student realizes that music can ultimately be
Emotional and Creative Outlet for them,
they will be Musicians for life!
About Scott

In the past 4 years, I have tutored dozens of students and worked with different trumpet players in my area. As a music major at the University of Illinois, I seek a way to continue my passion for teaching and seeing students develop into wonderful players. Trained in general music, theory, and skills in teaching, I can truly connect with your student and ensure that they gain knowledge and learn to love playing their horn!
The most valuable way a student can learn is if he or she has a positive connection with the teacher. In my case, I ensure that I understand not only the student's strengths and places for improvement, but also the uniqueness of his or her character and what teaching methods the student responds to. Every child is unique in how they learn, and all deserve a positive experience without intimidation and impatience from teachers. Teaching music also goes hand in hand with teaching your student dedication, work ethic, and strong character!
About Mercedes
I am a current Music Education major at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, pursuing a minor in Psychology. Before that, I attended West Aurora High School in Aurora, IL as the principal trumpet player in the concert and jazz setting, and was a trumpet section leader and drum major of the

I believe that it is very important to have a good musical foundation in addition to playing the trumpet. We will go over aspects of music theory such as scales and key signatures. We will go over the fundamentals of playing trumpet and use exercises from various different method books. We will also go in depth into any styles that you are interested in. I will ask you to listen to recordings of great trumpet players so you can model their sound. Lessons will be rewarding and fun!
About Matt
I attended West Chester University from 2011-2015 and graduated with my bachleor's in music education. I performed in the marching band, symphonic band, wind ensemble, jazz ensembles, various trumpet ensembles, and a brass quintet. One of my trumpet ensembles made it to the semifinals in the Nation
