I work with all students from beginner to advanced.
The goal is to have fun and play music.

The bass guitar (also called electric bass, or simply bass; /ˈbeɪs/) is a stringed instrument played primarily with the fingers or thumb, by plucking, slapping, popping, tapping, thumping, or picking with a plectrum, often known as a pick.

The bass guitar is similar in appearance and construction to an electric guitar, but with a longer neck and scale length, and four to six strings or courses. The four-string bass—by far the most common—is usually tuned the same as the double bass, which corresponds to pitches one octave lower than the four lowest pitched strings of a guitar (E, A, D, and G).[6] The bass guitar is a transposing instrument, as it is notated in bass clef an octave higher than it sounds (as is the double bass) to avoid excessive ledger lines. Like the electric guitar, the bass guitar is plugged into an amplifier and speaker for live performances.

Kept missing class without any heads up so I had to just wait around and hope he'll show up, ignored my calls and messages to reschedule, so I had to just get a refund from TakeLessons. As a teacher he is good, but very unprofessional behavior in terms of accountability and respect for students' time.

Beginners: focus on learning the strings, frets and notes to play along with simple songs a la The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, Johnny Cash, Tom Petty, etc. Also focus on right hand and left hand techniques, peddling bass notes, rhythm and playing with percussion. Intermediate players: introduction to concepts like octaves, major and minor arpeggios, blues scale, sliding pentatonic riffs and circle of 4ths / 5ths. Incorporating these concepts by learning classic bass riffs like "Money" (Pink Floyd), "Billie Jean" (Michael Jackson), "Another One Bites The Dust" (Queen), "My Girl" (The Temptations), and "Like A Rolling Stone" (Bob Dylan). Introduce funk techniques like slapping, improvisation via major, minor and 7th chord arpeggios, reading music and studying players like Paul McCartney (Beatles), John Paul Jones (Led Zeppelin), Flea (Red Hot Chili Peppers) and others who are of interest.

About P.G.
I have been playing guitar, writing songs and studying music for over 20 years. I graduated from Boston College with a degree in Music composition and theory. I am also a recording engineer and write music for TV, film and advertising. I love to teach and work with students who want to learn. Basically, I like to make music and have fun!

*** Lesson Details ***
I start working with new students by setting goals. My philosophy is to have fun and make music. Ultimately, my goal is for the student to be able to "jam" with other musicians. I picked up the guitar at age thirteen because I was inspired by Nirvana. I was quickly turned on to Jimi Hendrix, which eventually led to me discovering jazz, classical music, songwriting and eventually bluegrass. Music is a vast world and I believe in teaching songs that the student wants to play. So
I start by working on songs that are of interest to each individual student.

*** Home Equipment ***
Lessons are taught in my home. Seating for parents available. No pets. Bass and electric guitar amplifiers are provided as well as cables.

*** Travel Equipment ***
I provide a guitar tuner and learning materials (i.e. music sheets and learning material). I expect the student to have a guitar, bass, banjo or ukulele to play. I also advise an amplifier for electric guitar students. I am able to bring a small practice amplifier to lessons at student location.

*** Specialties ***
On Guitar: Acoustic & Electric guitar, Rock n' Roll, Blues, Jazz, Improvisation, Merle Travis chicken pickin', slide guitar and music theory. In the world of audio recording, I am well versed in Logic Pro X. I operate Logic in my personal studio to write and record music for TV, film and advertising.

Rock, blues, Americana, punk, no-wave, math rock, shoegaze, etc.

About Joel
I am a fan of a wide variety of music. I am especially fond of music that provides a structure for improvisation and the unexpected results that can arise when musicians allow themselves to explore their instruments without the restrictions that typically more formulaic styles impose. However, I also enjoy music that is incredibly orchestrated and requires exact mechanics and pristine technique. Most of all, I need music to feel generous toward the listener or I lose interest very quickly. Music is a gift. It can change your life if you let it. If you are adventurous and willing to challenge yourself you can find all the treasures of the universe in the mastery of an instrument. Did I mention its a lot of fun? Pick me, you wont be disappointed.

I have a good 4 years of experience using my band performance guitar abilities, and knowledge of music theory/production towards bass technique and practice. I understand the role a bass should play in most pop/funk/soul/rock/reggae/alternative/blues settings, and I work with students on right hand finger technique, holding rhythm and staying in the pocket, theory and scales, and learning songs is a great benchmark to cover all of those essentials.

About Juan
I am an experienced musician, singer, and teacher. I have six years of performing and touring experience, and six years teaching private lessons as well as at the School Of Rock in Ballwin, MO. I like to work with my students on their specific needs/interests/desires as singers and musicians. Whether that is on technique, performance, extending range, learning songs, or simply feeling more comfortable with your singing voice and your performing abilities, I am happy to help you grow as a singer and musician.

It's all about the groove!
As a gigging musician in Nashville, I know how vital it is for a bass player to have great feel. I strive in my bass lessons to give students a foundation of technical skills and music theory, but to also encourage the growth of a student's ear in order to turn them into a functional musician that can play for enjoyment or have the knowledge to step into band or ensemble situations and fit into the groove.

About Chris
Are you interested in being able to play lead or rhythm guitar in a band confidently? Want to learn to write songs? Want to learn to just strum along to your favorite records by yourself? I will teach you or your child all of the knowledge and tools needed to do whatever your dream is on your instrument. My aim is to help every student achieve their personal goals on their instrument within the context of a relaxed and patient environment that promotes a love of music!

I achieve this by:

1) Individualizing lesson plans so that each student stays engaged and learns in the style that is best for them as learners.

2) Ensuring that students learn BOTH how to play their instrument as well as the theory behind what they are playing. This creates a more well-rounded musician that is capable of problem solving on their instrument an
d being able to play in a variety of settings.

I have been playing music for over 10 years and teaching private lessons since 2014. My professional performance experience includes solo guitar gigs, rock band shows, musical theatre pit work, dance band playing, plus various gigs in Nashville, around the Eastern United States, and even in Scotland!

I graduated from Belmont University in the Spring of 2018 with a degree in Commercial Music, so I have had the "conservatory training" in regards to theory, and music history, but before college I was largely a self taught player and am now a professionally performing musician here in Nashville.

Chris is great! I've been trying to learn via Rocksmith for ~2 years, and I'd made some good progress, but I felt like I was missing some things. I started taking lessons with Chris about 3 months ago, and he's been awesome at figuring out where I am and which skill gaps I can fill to make me a better guitarist overall. His lessons are a fun mix of practical application and (a very non-scary, beginner-oriented take on) music theory. Hello, my name is Matthew and I am a student at Belmont University studying electric and double bass under some of the greatest bass players in the country and gain personal insight on their teaching styles as well as what makes great bass players. However, I understand that lessons with these professionals can be expensive and I want to be able to help students discover the joy of bass playing in the same way that I did. I treat each student individually and as the unique learner that they are and will create a curriculum for them depending on what they would like to learn! Of course there are certain things that I believe every student should learn such as scales and arpeggios and things the student shall be able to take whatever path they choose! Thank you so much and I hope to spend time with you diving into the amazing depths of the instrument that is the bass, both electrically and acoustically

About Matthew
Hello!
My name is Matthew and I am a student at Belmont University studying everything that has to do with Bass. I am 20 years old and have extensive experience teaching people of all ages both music and sports! I am very relaxed and understand the desire to learn songs and things you enjoy hearing on the radio over scales and arpeggios. Through what you enjoy listening to and playing we can incorporate everything else, such as scales and arpeggios, to help you gain an understanding for the reason music sounds the way it does and how the bass influences that! Look forward to hearing from you all and helping you become the best bass player that you can be!

I loved getting lessons from Zelda! Her bright bubbly personality is so welcoming. She greeted me each lesson with a cup of herbal tea to sooth the vocal cords and we then worked on a series of great vocal techniques that have helped me maximise my singing potential.
This has subsequently led to me being a professional singer and touring extensively both nationally and internationally in a number of different singing styles and genres (including Jazz/Classical/Pop/Rock/Folk/Country).
Her safe methods build vocal control and stamina; as well as develop world class expressive and stylistic techniques. She manages all of this while also making lessons fun!
