I provide lessons for classical double bass playing, from beginner to advanced level.

With or without a bow, upright bass students that study with me can learn a variety of styles (classical, jazz, bluegrass, etc.). Lessons include focus on intonation, dexterity, and rhythmic independence with special attention to having a comfortable approach to the instrument. Students will always have tangible representations of their work through recordings and personalized musical guides.

Lessons will be catered to the individual students needs and musical aspirations. As a versatile, free-lance bass player, I'm specialized in a wide variety of musical styles and am able to guide students towards any goal they may have. For all styles, I will be incorporating lessons I learned while studying with a master musician in India.

Jazz lessons will focus on technique, ear training, transcribing, music theory, rhythmic strengthening, and understanding the responsibilities of the bass player.

Hello, my name is Bailey and I love teaching bass! I am a professional pianist and public school orchestra teacher. I have a Bachelor of Music degree in Music Education and a Master of Music degree in Piano Performance from the Fredonia School of Music. I am a certified K-12 music teacher in New York State. I have been giving private lessons for 10 years to a variety of learners ranging in age and skill level.

I am able to assess what you need, and offer you meaningful feedback in small, digestible chunks. Along with all of this, I make lessons fun! The method systematically approaches bass technique from the first note - open strings through Major and minor scales arpeggios fingerings, bow exercises, up to 7th position

I aim to instill a love of music and of the instrument through both student guided song selections from popular genres and movie/video game soundtracks, as well as the pedagogy and technical exercises that are required to play the double bass. I complement this with various etudes and repertoire from both the classical and jazz idioms to create a bassist that not only knows how to groove, but has a solid command of the bass.
