I specialize in playing the upright bass, and I have a great time teaching it. I enjoy giving the student perspective on the instrument, explaining the entire double bass and the intricate methods I've used to master it, from Simandl to Rabbath.

I studied upright bass at two Midwest Universities, Northern Kentucky University and University of Cincinnati CCM. I have been playing the bass professionally in ensembles for years. I have experience playing jazz, blues, bluegrass, rock, folk, musical theatre and classical music.

About David

My name is David and I'm a professional musician who just moved to North Austin. I came from Cincinnati, where I went to the University of Cincinnati College Conservatory of Music, taught dozens of students at all levels and played regular gigs every weekend. David , arrived on time at my home for my first piano lesson in 25 years.
He was friendly and knowledgeable and soon found some things for me to work on, but he was patient with this 53
Year old guy.
I feel confident that my piano skills will improve greatly with David’s tuition.
I eagerly look forward to my next lesson.

David is the best and the sweetest piano teacher we have ever have. He is so patient, kind, caring and creative in his teaching method.

My 5 year old has a little autism symptom so she's very easy to get distracted. Yet we have great fun time in every class with him. His class worth 20 min driving there and 20 min driving back, using toll road!
Lori
David has been so amazing with out 9 year old daughter. We have gone to him for over 2 years and she has come so far with her skills! He has so much patience. He's so kind and wonderful with kids. We were recommended by a friend and now we recommend him! He's high in demand for sure! We are sad we can't use him anymore due to scheduling issues. His prices are better than others too!

I teach both electric and upright bass. My focus is on a healthy and sustainable technique, ensuring fluidity in your playing with minimal strain on your body. Whether you're playing folk, blues, country, or swing, I can help you sound better, play longer, more imaginatively, and more comfortably, and have more fun.

I've been playing folk, country, and rock guitar since 1995, and played upright bass, banjo, and rhythm guitar in gigging old-time bands for ten years. I currently play bass and sing in a cover band, and release original music and collaborations on major streaming platforms (under the name "Dan Easley".)

About Dan

I've been playing music since I was five years old (so, over 35 years now), beginning my 'stage career' as a saxophonist in school bands, then playing guitars, keyboards, accordions, mandolins, banjo, and bass in a variety of live acts throughout my adult life. I've made (as of January 2020) 16

Thomas is honestly an amazing musician and teacher. He was really patient with me. Despite having to deal with major timezone differences (as I live in Myanmar), he took the time to figure it out. Also, he helped me figure out the stuff it took me months to figure out. He also really knows what he's doing. I learned so much in that hour of practice. 10/10 would recommend him.

"At first I was skeptical about taking online lessons, but I love taking lessons with Hannah. I'm a classical bassist starting to learn jazz, and Hannah is providing exactly what I was hoping for in starting my jazz career. The first lesson we went over what my goals are, and she is providing me with exactly the tools that I need to progress. Every week she sends me a personalized document of what we went over in lessons, what I should focus on in the coming week, and music resources (exercises, jazz charts, etc) to utilize! She is patient, kind, knowledgeable in both technique and theory, and pushes me every lesson."

"Excellent Teacher

Along with being incredibly knowledgeable, Alex has the patience and communication skills that really make him excel as a teacher. As a complete beginner to the upright bass (and music in general), I find Alex breaks concepts down in a clear, step-by-step fashion, so that it is not overwhelming. He also gives useful tips on how to be a better learner when tackling challenges, which helps make my personal practice even more effective. Alex is approachable and eager to answer questions even in between classes - I highly recommend him as teacher!"
