I have been playing music almost my entire life. I first started on trombone in 4th grade then switched to guitar in 6th. I picked up the electric bass in my later teenage years and learned the upright bass (both jazz and classical) in college. My students get the benefit of my education, as well as the mistakes I have made along the way I strongly believe that listening is the most critical, and overlooked, aspect of learning to make music. Just like we first learned to speak by listening to our parents and mimicking them, we learn to make music by listening to our favorite musicians and mimicking them I also believe that what a student gets out of his lessons is proportional to what he puts in. My teaching style is methodical and analytical and shows greatest results with students who are honest with themselves about what they expect to accomplish and are willing to put in the work to accomplish it I have a degree in jazz performance from The Ohio State University and have played in numerous rock, jazz and off-broadway bands over the last 30 years. Now playing is something I do primarily for fun and my #1 goal is always that my students have as much fun playing as I do

David is a great teacher and coach. I’m an adult learner and he has amazing patience and persistence. :-) He takes the time to explain the theory behind the music, which will be more and more helpful as I progress. He tailors lessons to your learning style as well. The thing I love about David is that he pushes me to put in the time, but he doesn’t make me feel bad when it takes longer to grasp a concept. In order to be successful, you need a teacher who understands how to teach, but you also need a coach who will push you. With David, you get both experience and a disciplined approach. I’ve been taking lessons for.a few months now and I’m seeing great progress already. I highly recommend getting a teacher if you are a beginner so you don’t learn bad habits trying to teach yourself. David is an awesome choice if you’re looking for an instructor, and the perfect instructor for someone like me that needs a patient teacher, but also someone who expects me to be present and learn! Can’t wait to see where I am with my playing next year with his help. :-)
David teaches my Son and he really likes him. He has brought a lot of interest to this instrument for my son.
Absolutely stellar teacher. I haven’t come out of a lesson once having not been satisfied and inspired to keep moving forward. His lessons are well-structured and well-paced. He’s also a cool guy. Highly recommend!
