Born in New York City, Darren Sacks is currently one of the most sought-after bass teachers in the Greater Boston area. Darren has been invited as a guest artist to conduct bass master classes at local music conservatories and high schools throughout Massachusetts. As a private teacher, Darren is dedicated to teaching students of all levels, including beginners as well as advanced students. During lessons, he emphasizes solid technique, learning how to play in tune, musical finesse, and rhythmic accuracy though his passionate personality and instinct for troubleshooting difficult sections. As a result, many of his students have won auditions and admittance into undergraduate music colleges. Recently, Darren joined the faculty at the Conservatory at Highlands located in Newton, Massachusetts.

Darren performs as a freelance orchestral double bassist throughout Greater Boston and also performs in pit orchestras for musical theatre productions such as "Into the Woods" and "South Pacific". In addition, he has performed professionally with several Connecticut orchestras including the Waterbury Symphony Orchestra, the New Britain Symphony, and the Wallingford Symphony.

Darren is the recipient of significant awards including the Hartt Performing Arts Scholarship and the Boston Conservatory Scholarship. Prior to attending music school, Darren was principal bassist of the Connecticut Youth Symphony and also participated in both the Connecticut Northern Region High School Music Festival and the Connecticut All-State Festival. Darren received his Bachelor of Music from the Hartt School of Music, studying with Robert Black and then later graduated with his Master of Music at Boston Conservatory, studying with Lawrence Wolfe, assistant principal bass of the Boston Symphony Orchestra.

Darren has been a great instructor to my son Terrill. He's learning a lot and getting much better thanks to Darren. I wasn't sure how online sessions would work but they are going great. I'm glad I chose Darren.

Darren has been an outstanding teacher for my high school daughter preparing for her college auditions. His attention to detail has vastly improved her technique. She is playing with more confidence also. Darren is fabulous in sharing his time and talent. She has had several private lesson teachers on the past but he is definitely the best!
