Born in New York City, Darren Sacks enjoys a varied career as a double bassist including performing in symphony orchestras and teaching privately. He has performed professionally with several Connecticut orchestras including the Waterbury Symphony Orchestra, the New Britain Symphony, and the Wallingford Symphony. Mr. Sacks is the recipient of significant awards including the Hartt Performing Arts Scholarship and the Boston Conservatory Scholarship. Prior to attending music school, Sacks was principal bassist of the Connecticut Youth Symphony and also participated in both the Connecticut Northern Region High School Music Festival and the Connecticut All-State Festival. Mr. Sacks received his Bachelor of Music from the Hartt School of Music, studying with Robert Black and then later graduated with his Master of Music at Boston Conservatory, studying with Lawrence Wolfe, assistant principal bass of the Boston Symphony Orchestra.
