My bass guitar lessons use three main approaches. Technique- I've learned from the best. With the right technique, anything is possible.
Applied Theory- Do Re Mi. Whats up with that? I'll show any student that simple theory can be used to make your own style. Why can I hear a song a learn it immediately? I'll show you.
Learning Material- The music YOU love may be the most important part of my lessons. I'll also find the perfect tunes that will be your skill level but also challenge you.

Students will be shown proper technique, as a bass player your sense of rhythm and feel is very important so a lot of focus of understanding, reading and writing rhythms. Being able to navigate through chord progressions is also key so an understanding of theory and its applications on the neck will receieve a lot of focus. For new comers, a method book is highly suggested to work through.

In the time I have been studying with Tim, I have done more than I thought I ever could. I went from a frustrated beginner guitar player to having enough confidence to play on stage with some of Tim’s other students and I am now looking forward to what I will be able to do on the guitar instead of being frustrated with what I can’t do.
Tim is a talented and passionate musician as well as a knowledgeable and very relatable instructor which is a rare combination and he's also a really great guy and any student of any age or ability will benefit from studying with him.

I've been playing bass since 2003, tackling everything from metal to jazz to chamber orchestral & band music. When teaching bass, I like to cover as many areas as I can to ensure my students are as well-rounded as they would like to be (& then some). We will discuss proper bass techniques, writing walking bass lines, reading chord changes, how to achieve good bass tones & gear, etc.

Bass guitar was one of those things I had a passion about for many years before I took it up. When I finally did, I explored the techniques of many of the great players like Victor Wooten and Jaco Pastorius. I have performed in several bands as the bassist, but I've most enjoyed studying it as a solo instrument while writing my own pieces and learning songs of great artists like Larry Graham and John Mayer.
I typically play a 6 string bass but I'm happy to teach any type of bass from a 4 to 11 string instrument. I love teaching improvisation and special right hand techniques, so whatever path you want to go down I bet I can help you.
About Jonathan
I studied music therapy and music theory at Temple University from '06-'10. Learned a lot. Then again, I learned even more teaching at a school for kids with learning disabilities and working as a traveling street performer. Once you see the world and work with some unexpected challenges, you learn

Looking for a way to make your bass lines move? Bass guitar teacher Miller W. shares his three step plan to creating walking bass lines... The walking bass line is one of the most fundamental parts of American music. It is found most commonly in blues and jazz, but as you learn bass guitar, you will hear its influence in almost any style of music. A walking bass line provides a strong rhythmic and harmonic foundation by smoothly moving from each chord to the next using four quarter notes pe …
