I've been teaching bass since 2009.
Some of my favorite bassists are Flea from RHCP's, Les from Primus, Cliff Burton from Metallica, Victor Wooten, John Deacon from Queen, and many more.
I use Fender, Ibanez, Flea bass, Tech 21 SansAmp, JBL, and Ampeg.
There is not just one book that will give you everything you need so I teach from a number of books by different companies like Alfred, KJOS, Hal Leonard, song books, to individual pieces from music notes. I also create, print, and email custom lessons created on a program in my Mac.
It usually takes around 2 - 3 months for beginner to start catching on and be able to play well. It really depends on how much the student practices. Some people catch on faster because they are naturals and others have to work a little harder. It's my goal to help each student become the musician they desire to be. My philosophy is to teach my students to be smart musicians. What I mean by that is, it does you no good if you can play a song but ...

About Christian

Music is my passion. I've been playing music since I was a child but didn't get serious with it until I was 14, that's when I got my first electric guitar. So, from then on I've been playing and studying music for over 16 years. I play and teach guitar, piano, drums, and bass guitar. Aside from tak

Christian was very careful as I knew nothing about music. He explained the guitar’s basic function in language that I can understand. I am more enthusiastic about playing than I thought possible.

A great instructor. Very patient with my son who has never touched a piano before. Very knowledgeable about all types of music and different instruments. Would highly recommend to anyone looking for lessons.

My son Emmett is always excited to spend time with Christian! Each lesson is well organized and they cover a lot of material focusing both on skills and fun items. Technology part of things can be challenging but Christian each weeks puts the time in to make the experience better for all of us. We are having a wonderful time and learning a lot.

I took around 15 lessons for bass guitar with James and really enjoyed it. James was able to tailor the experience for what I wanted, which was heavy on music theory, but still made sure we applied the theory to the instrument. I had prior experience with some music theory and playing, but hadn't touched my bass in almost 10 years. James was able to figure out exactly where to pick up, provided great materials, and kept me engaged. James is very knowledgeable, a great player, and a cool cat.
Tom
James is a highly qualified instructor and was very thoughtful in answering my questions. I was impressed with the amount of resources he had on hand, such as worksheets, method books, sheet music, etc. I would definitely recommend James for anyone curious about learning music theory and/or the many instruments he plays.

I've been teaching bass guitar for 10 years and my students have been able to go farther than they've ever imagined. From being able to become a great asset in bands, starting serious careers in music performance, to furthering their musical studies by attending college/university, and even becoming teachers themselves. My students have truly learned that with learning an instrument comes a much deeper love, understanding, and increased appreciation for music at a foundational level. Therefore, students inevitably develop a real sense of intimacy for music and become part of the life long journey that all of us musicians are on. Lastly, with time and patience, my students truly realize how very much capable they are of achieving anything they set their minds to achieving. Within the first few lessons, you'll be able to tune up your bass guitar properly, become familiar with your fretboard while learning to read a very useful tool known as tablature in order to get started right ...

"I am absolutely amazed how laughter, insight and fun amplifies the learning experience. Corey helped me start, begin and continue on this journey to become the musician that I want to be. Corey listens to his students and in turn teaches us to really listen.
Corey has a wealth of knowledge and experience in making and teaching the art of music. He is always encouraging his students to become more than they perceive themselves to be.
16+ years ago I went 'live' for the first time with Corey's encouragement.
I was absolutely petrified.
I was convinced that it was possible to urinate down both pant legs simultaneously. Clearly I was mistaken.
That first introduction to musical performance by Corey has lead to so much in my life.
Under Corey's instruction I have played many styles of music. This has always been done in an encouraging, empowering, engaging and fun environment.
Please look at the first sentence of this review.
His teaching methods lead to positive results.
Become the musician that you wish to be."

Learn Bass Guitar: How to Play a Walking Bass Line in 3 Steps

Looking for a way to make your bass lines move? Bass guitar teacher Miller W. shares his three step plan to creating walking bass lines... The walking bass line is one of the most fundamental parts of American music.
