I am an experienced teacher of 16 years! I thrive on finding each student's specific learning style and cultivating a positive and productive learning experience within that. I apply consistent and focused energy in getting my students to strive for their best, and I aim to inspire them to respond in turn with the same focused and accurate effort.

I teach using a modified Suzuki method. This means that, while I do subscribe to Suzuki's "mother tongue" approach, I also believe that education on an instrument requires literacy from a young age. I have discovered in my years of teaching that an early ability to read notes and understand musical theory and form is not a handicap to a student's development, but rather a benefit to the student gaining a richer, fuller understanding of their instrument and music in general.

While focusing on technique and theory primarily, we will also spend at least a part of each lesson being creative, whether we're improvising, or writing together, or just playing a game, because I believe that being a well-rounded musician means knowing how to communicate your own ideas fluently. I'm also trained in the Taubman Method, so you'll receive training in how to play the piano with confidence and ease without the risk of injuring yourself later on. I am very focused and driven to ensure that you further your technique on a weekly basis. I specialize in training beginner/intermediate piano students online. I have experience with performing and composing compositions. I was awarded certificates from the Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music.

I am a fully self-taught pianist...until I went to college that is. After 15 years of struggling to reach the highest levels of playing I could achieve, I have collected a few gold nuggets of secrets to make piano learning a LOT more fun and easier to understand. My approach to teaching is simple: if you're not having fun while trying to perfect your favorite song, I am not doing my job well enough. I always adapt my teaching style to fit the student's personality, mood and learning style (even on a week to week basis). I truly enjoy seeing the student SHINE and get excited about mastering a hard part in a song or playing both hands for the first time; if the student is happy and excited, I am happy and excited for them!
