I have been playing classical piano since 1960 and started with ten years of private classical instruction. I have taught classical piano full time since 1998, including music theory, proper hand and finger technique and methods to enhance ear training and ease of playing classical compositions.

Playing piano is fun! So should your piano lessons.

I've taught piano since I was in high school, and continued to teach while I was a student at Cornell University. I also taught theory classes in the Cornell Piano Society, where I served as President for 4 years.

Why? I simply love music, piano, and sharing it with others.

While I'm classically trained, I've dabbled into other genres, such as Jazz, Rock, Pop, R&B, songwriting, and music production / audio engineering. I've recently been accepted into the Steinway & Sons (the piano makers) Teacher Partnership Program. Feel free to message me for more details!

I am both patient and enthusiastic as a teacher. I love music, and enjoy the opportunity to share my love of the piano with my students. Once I have determined the student's level, I find music that will help them progress towards a higher level.

I love teaching piano. In my eight years of experience, I've learned several piano methods, and I've developed my own approach which balances playing, listening, and analyzing music. My students have told me they appreciate me for my clear, simple way of explaining things, my enthusiasm, and the personal attention I give to each student. My primary goal is to train well-rounded musicians, and offer the benefits that entails, such as discipline, critical-thinking, and creativity.

I began playing the piano at the age of five. In 2008, I completed Music Teachers' Association of California Keyboard test and had the Certificate of Merit Advanced Level. I continued my training with Dr. Gwendolyn Mok and Dr. Sultanov at San Jose State School of Music and Dance, where I received my Bachelor's Degree of Music Education.

Not only I had high quality piano lessons with professional doctors in music, I took copious amount of music classes to explore my music skills. Classes are including Piano Pedagogy, Piano Accompaniment, Recital Preparation and Interpretive, Piano sight-reading, Beethoven's literature, and High school choir. I have performed as soloist and chamber musician in various locations which included performing in concerts, nursing home, and school functions.

I am bilingual in Cantonese and English and teaching at Fremont/Union City area.

What makes piano lessons with me unique is a combination of things. I got my music degree from State University of New York, New Paltz. I got my Masters in Music from Ithaca college in New York. I got my teaching license from the State of California in 1974. I have been teaching piano for over 40 years and taught at least 200 students.
