My first lesson was heavy on intro and establishing a practice routine consisting mainly of exercises. This traditional method is what I grew up with and I'm looking forward to learning with Jon.

Along with playing guitar and studying music theory, those skills have been applied to learning various stringed instruments including the bass guitar. I have had the privilege of nearly 20 years of playing music and have been able to apply my skills and knowledge into learning bass and effectively teach my students. I teach a variety of skills and styles including but not limited to: rock, jazz, blues, country, pop, alternative, pick style, finger style, and others. My goal as an instructor is to keep the lessons fresh, fun, interesting, and to ultimately guide the students to better teach themselves as they gain experience and familiarity with the instrument and music. Students can have their lessons catered to the music and styles they wish to pursue. Lessons are tailored to each individual student so that we can build upon their strengths and focus on lessons to improve weaker areas. Students will learn how to build dexterity, use proper technique, and be creative. Every student ...

Bass is my main instrument! I am genuinely passionate about your success in becoming the best BASS player you choose to be! I like to teach with repetition (wax on wax off) and prefer to present the big picture first so that every obstacle may potentially never be an obstacle for you. Beginners
I'm not currently taking beginner guitar students, but I highly recommend my studio partner Melissa: https://takelessons.com/profile/melissa-m62

Intermediate
Expand use of arpeggios and look into common variations in traditional harmony. Also begin to look into the applications of polyrhythms in bass playing.

Advanced
Break out of basic arpeggios through use of modes and chromaticism. Really push your rhythm to the limit through more advanced polyrhythms and use of asymmetrical meters. Also exploring different types of tone and methods of making sound.

About Jesse

*Disclaimer* I'm currently not taking beginner students for bass, drums, piano, and ukulele or children under 10 years old. I highly recommend my studio partner Melissa though. Please check out her profile: https://takelessons.com/profile/melissa-m62 My Background I've been playing with

Talented teachers are rare. Like a great coach i sports... the coach doesn’t need to be the top athlete in his field to know how to teach each team member to hone their best abilities, he just has to know and see how to teach you how to get there. Being an outstanding teacher is a great talent all in itself... and that is Jesse. He has that quality and ability to lead, focus and take you where you want to go.
Romy R.
Jesse has given directions on how to successfully become a better musician. His approach and explanation on musical theories was much more understandable than what I was previously reading. Overall, I found the lessons to be very usefull.

Teaching Style
I believe first and foremost in supporting and developing what musically inspires a student’s decision to study and play music. In order to fully develop control, musicality and understanding of the music language, it is important to focus on several components including music theory (scale and harmonic structure/function and rhythm), style, ear-training, reading and performance skills.

Expectations of Students
Like any aspect of life, consistency and patience are two very important qualities to posses when working towards a goal. The duration of each practice session is proportional to the level of the student. Learning how to practice efficiently with your instrument is key for adherence and success in obtaining your goals.

"Well, for starters, Marc is a great teacher (and all around great guy). My decision to choose Marc was solely based on his student's reviews. Do yourself a favor and look no further. If you really want to learn and quickly absorb the lessons, choose Marc. I'm learning quite a bit and although I thought that I'd be struggling, I'm picking up things rather quickly due to his style of teaching/explaining."

"Mirco is such an incredible teacher. My 15 year old son's confidence, and not just in playing the bass, has increased so much since starting lessons with Mirco a few months ago. His skills improve weekly, he looks forward to practicing playing everyday and he can't wait for his lessons. Mirco chooses awesome songs for them to play and assigns appropriate exercises. The lessons are a pure joy to listen to. I highly recommend Mirco as a teacher!"

"Been taking classes with this guy for a while now. He's mainly a guitarist but also his bass skills are incredible. When I started I was just above beginner level, but now I am able to play along most rock songs ( for now I'm still in the 4/4 realm) and even do some slapping. I bet that in another year I will also be able to play RHCP stuff. Totally recommended."
