About Ray
Hello!

My name is Ray, I'm 31 years old, and was born in Queens, NY. I studied classical music for many years as a youngster at the Aaron Copeland School of Music college preparatory program. During this program I was introduced to Jazz, and around the same time began experimenting with synthesizers. I went on to study Electronic Production & Design at Berklee College of Music in Boston, and quickly became a very sought after studio musician and performer.

I've been successfully teaching many instruments and proficiency levels for approximately 16 years now, and can say with pride that teaching is my passion, and I anticipate it remaining a very important part of my life.

I enjoy reading nonfiction books on science, math, and philosophy.

*** Lesson Details ***
My music lessons are unique for three main reasons:

1. I h
ave a very deep understanding of music, sound, and theory, and feel music to be one of my native languages.

2. I have devoted considerable amounts of time and energy studying neuroscience, which has greatly improved my understanding of the learning process.

3. I have been blessed with the tremendous amount of patience necessary to guide a student through the necessary steps it takes to learn at whatever pace is optimal, in order to maximize the efficiency of the learning process for each individual.

*** Equipment ***
Students must have their own instrument, and purchase their own materials (books, etc). From time to time I make my way to a local music shop, and am happy to purchase materials for reimbursement.

*** Specialties ***
Classical music is my background, and what I believe to be the most cognitively and emotionally fulfilling style of music to listen to, study, and play. That said, I'm also a big fan of pop music (as well as other genres), and encourage students to enjoy, for example, learning their favorite songs from the radio.

My understanding of music theory is extremely thorough, and I'm happy to incorporate as much or as little of it as the student's interest dictates, nevertheless maintaining the minimal amount of theory necessary to get the most out of learning music and the instrument.

Thanks for checking out my profile! Please contact me with any additional questions you may have, as well as to inquire about day/time availability. I'll do my best to get back to you right away (usually within a few hours).

In my lessons, we will cover technique, scales, and repertoire. I do emphasize basic theory to help students better understand the music and learn pieces more quickly. While working on these technicalities, I also try to make lessons fun and engaging so that the music has depth and a natural flow rather than mechanical approach that tends to make music dry and robotic.

About Christina
My name is Christina and I am very passionate about the vocal arts, specifically Opera. Opera was a surprise in my life that I discovered in college. I am now currently pursuing my MM degree in vocal arts at UCLA. The classical technique can provide a great foundation to healthy singing, ensuring a long and healthy vocal life.

Along side opera and other genres of singing, I believe basic knowledge in piano is extremely beneficial in improving musicality and an understanding of each piece. Piano greatly improves sight reading and ones ability to learn music quickly and efficiently. It can allow one to develop an understanding of harmony and context within each unique piece of music.

I would love to help and guide those interested in music, specifically classical voice, opera, musical theater, and piano. I would love to share the gre
at joy it brings me with others and pass down what I have learned over the years. I have completed courses in music pedagogy and education alongside my degree, and believe in shaping my lessons around each individual's learning style so that each student may continue to grow while having fun. Helping each student develop their own unique musical identity is one of the main goals with these lessons.

I enjoyed working with Christina. She was very adept at identifying areas in my vocal skills that could use some improvement and then offered solutions to that end. She also happens to be an extremely talented singer. I definitely recommend her services and look forward to working with her again.

Piano class is an exciting and informative introduction to piano and music skills for beginning to intermediate level music students in grades Kindergarten through Adult. The goal of the course is not only to develop a solid musical foundation in piano which will greatly assist in the future pursuit of any musical instrument in any style, but most importantly to instill in the student an understanding of how music is put together and thereby yield a sense of appreciation and mastery, even of little accomplishments, which build upon one another to greater accomplishments.

Students are taught a stimulating, thorough, and graduated course of recital solos, theory, technical studies, and classic piano repertoire. Class size varies from 2 to 3 students (with the possibility of expansion) with group activities as well as one-on-one instruction. I have found that a group atmosphere is often more beneficial and enjoyable for beginning to intermediate level students because they are ...

About Tamari (Tamara)
Hi, there! I'm Tamara and I can't wait to meet you!

On social media and for those who are more familiar, I'm Tamari. We all learn in different ways; some are more visual; others, auditory; some, kinesthetic--I combine a number of different modalities in my teaching, including direct feedback-teaching--once you learn a concept or skill, teach it, as soon as you possibly can, to someone else! -- this reinforces your own knowledge of the skill or concept!
I've been teaching private lessons for many years and have loved helping my students acquire new skills, master new pieces, and prepare for concerts and performances. Over the years, my younger students have earned Blue and Gold ratings at the Young Musicians' Festival in Fairfield U., some of them earning gold cups: This is a statewide event to encourage long-term commitment
to the art, discipline and joy of music making.
I attended Indiana University's distinguished Jacob School of Music where I earned a Masters in Piano Performance, and Composition in the '90's. I sang all types of vocal music as well as prepared singers with vocal coaching and voice development techniques 20+ years.
I'm fun loving, patient, and optimistic-- these traits carry through in my teaching style,
One Size does NOT fit all--I approach the lesson plans for each student tailored to your learning style.
Over the past 23 years, my life experiences have encompassed other disciplines and compelled me to learn and acquire many other skills: my liberal arts as well as fine arts education lent itself to helping me work administrative jobs and even expanded into sales and public speaking. I have coached after school and SAT preparation to High School and College age students, helped with the preparation of legal and analytical documents, creative writing and editing assignments; and even tutored computer, social media and Microsoft Office & iWork Suite of applications to older adults. Within the 10 most recent years, I served as Music Director in Catholic, Methodist, Presbyterian and Lutheran Churches, as it is my firm conviction that Music is a universal language which can help deepen the prayer experience while helping to bring comfort and joy.

I look forward to helping you reach your goals

I have known Tamari professionally for fifteen years.
She is an excellent music teacher for piano and voice. Her expertise is noticeable as she patiently meets her student at his/her level and guides that student to the next step.
The process is perfect for any student, even if developmentally challenged and for any age. I highly recommend Tamari.

I've been consistent weekly taking yoga lessons from Tamari at the Y in Canaan CT. I try not to miss it. She's a compassionate and caring yoga teacher and will trailer her classes to fit your needs. Her classes are good for newbies and seniors and those who want a simple class. No athletics. Hatha Yoga are basic yoga stretches that will make you feel good after participating . My aches and pains are gone after each session. To be continued....

Tamara is a very highly qualified, and extremely capable musician and instructor. While away on a leave from my position as music director at a local church, Tamara planned and provided the music for services, and led the congregation's music programs in my absence. While I was away, it was a great comfort to know that Tamara provided quality music for each service. In addition to demonstrating an extraordinary level of musicianship, Tamara is a dependable, and dedicated professional. I am pleased to provide my strongest recommendation!

Kellon was what I hoped for; he plays and sings well- my music and his. We warmed up, then practiced some of my chorus music with him singing tenor to my alto, then we recorded the alto to Steal Away and the chorus to The A Train for me to learn. Perfect. Will be a big challenge to sing alto against a strong tenor.

For classical lessons, we will always start with scales and finger exercises, then move into level appropriate classical music in a variety of styles (Romantic, Baroque, even some 20th century). As always, the choices of pieces will be reflective of the student’s preference.

About Mandie
Hello, future pianists! My name is Mandie (or Miss Mandie, as my younger students call me). I have been playing the piano for twenty years, and I’ve been teaching since high school, over 12 years ago! I received my bachelor’s degree in Piano Performance from Cornerstone University, but teaching has always been my first love. Teaching piano is so much fun for me; during the lessons we joke around and have so much fun, my students usually don’t even realize how much they are learning. For my youngest students, we dance and color and sing right alongside learning piano. I want my students to have a good foundation and knowledge of the piano, but I want them to enjoy the process. That being said, for those of you who are looking for a more traditional education, I have a very deep knowledge of classical piano and training so I will gladly put
away my crayons and teach that sort of lesson! If any of this sounds like something you or your child would resonate with, please don’t hesitate to reach out!

Mandie is very accommodating and includes the parent in weekly conversations. She is very patient with my daughter who loves the piano but has ADHD. She has worked with my daughter for two years now and we just want her to enjoy music. Her recital duet was by far the best act! It was unique and captured my daughter love to be different!
Mandie’s ability to engage and not discourage my daughter makes my heart happy.
Mandie is very accommodating with scheduling and makeups. Whether you are interested in competition level piano or just the love of music Mandie is the right teacher for you.

Step up your piano game right now !!!!

My name is Ms. Leanne and I believe in the life lasting effect of learning a music instrument. I know lessons nowadays can be expensive and teachers from music companies can be TOO laid back for you to test your abilities. Learning the piano should be a fun but an every-practice challenge for you. There is always room for improvement.

Each student is on a different level and has different learning paces and I will adjust my lessons to your needs after assessing where you're at during an online interviewing process.

Warm ups and Pieces will be provided by me with no additional cost unless wanting to learn certain books. These pieces will develop skills and push your abilities.

I except my students to practice hard and I am not afraid to tell them to step up their game. I want to push my students because who doesn't want to play Moonlight Sonata Third Movement one day.

Students 5+ should have a weighted keyboard and am willing to

About Leanne
You can call me Ms. L or Ms. Y, but I am a highschool senior and I simply love passing on what I have experienced to those around me. Since I am a little young I hope we'd get well together. I have been playing the piano for a decade and will continue to take my own private lessons and teach you what I have learned from them.

I am able to give my students the warmup’s and pieces for whatever level they are currently in and will improve on.
