I have been teaching professionally for almost 15 years. I am a classically trained violinist/violist, but I also am skilled in fiddle, pop, hip hop, and many other genres. I believe it is important to be a well-rounded musician, so I am open to teaching all styles and genres. I also have a lot of studio experience and can help with string arrangements.

About Alexandra
Hi there!
I am a professional full-time freelance violinist/violist based out of NYC. I have been teaching for almost 15 years now.

I am classically trained but am comfortable teaching and performing all genres, including fiddle, pop, hip hop, rock, and more.

I am in several professional orchestras, including being Assistant Concertmistress of South Florida Symphony and the Manhattan Symphonie. I have performed all over the world in halls like Carnegie Hall, Shanghai Symphony Hall, The Arsht Center, Lincoln Center, and Madison Square Garden.

I also enjoy a career performing alongside prominent pop musicians: in the studio, live in concert, and on television. I have appeared numerous times on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon accompanying Common, The Roots, Pete Townshend, Albie Boe, and BJ the Chicago Kid. I have played on records for
Snoop Dogg, Jewel, Philip Glass, Stephen Sondheim, The Lumineers, PJ Morton, Victory Boyd, Paul Baloche, and more. I have played on numerous movie soundtracks and commercials, including ad campaigns for Google and Emergen-C.
I have played sold out concerts with Chris Martin from Coldplay, The Trans Siberian Orchestra, Streetlight Manifesto, Pharoahe Monch, The Ruff Ryders, Gungor, and Bollywood artist Parthiv Gohil. I was also part of a string trio selected to perform at the US Open in 2017.

I play a lot of musical theatre as well, and with many prominent Broadway singers. I have performed with Broadway artists including Laura Osnes, Liz Callaway, Jay Armstrong, Jeremy Jordan, Michael Longoria, Teal Wicks, Stacy Sullivan, and more.

I teach scales, technique, shifting, vibrato, tonal exercises, solo pieces, and theory. I also teach group ensembles, trios, quartets, etc., in Classical, Religious, Fiddle, Pop. I help students with their school orchestral music and audition pieces also.

About Erin
My name is Erin. I am a graduate of the University of North Carolina at Charlotte. I have a Bachelor of Arts in Music, with a concentration in Violin. I began studying violin at the age of six. I have performed with small chamber ensembles, orchestras, quartets, and trios. I enjoy playing for churches and weddings, and love teaching.

I began teaching beginner to advanced Violin and Viola in April of 2001 in NC. I moved to California in the fall of 2008. Since moving to California I have extended my teaching to beginner Piano and Cello also. I have taught students ages 3 to 87 how to play and enjoy music on a personal level. My experience includes leading sectionals for middle school orchestra, organizing and instructing small ensembles, and organizing student recitals. Student recitals I arranged once or twice a year to showcase the
students' growth and abilities, and to provide an opportunity to give back to family and friends whose sacrifices and support enable the students to succeed.

I teach because I love music and I believe God has given me a gift. Playing and teaching help me to use my talent for His glory. I love working with people and I love how music enables people of all ages to open up and express themselves in a positive way, no matter what life throws their way. I believe music teaches discipline, builds self esteem; helps set and achieve goals; and positively affects and enhances other curricular endeavors.

My teaching philosophy is to always have fun while learning, to set attainable goals for the student, to learn through encouragement and discipline, and to help students come to love music on a personal level. I focus on the character of each student and their goals and desires to see that the student and/or parents are satisfied. Teaching is a privilege for me that I do not take for granted.

*** Lesson Details ***
I offer half hour, forty-five minute, sixty minute lessons, or longer on a weekly basis, but I do Not offer bi-weekly lessons. My lessons begin with the fundamentals of music. I believe a firm foundation in rhythm and reading is important because a student may switch musical instruments one day and the basics are universal and necessary. I have a deep love and appreciation for music which I hope to instill in my students as well. I am strict in the sense that I like students to polish their pieces before moving on. I like to keep them focused on playing well, not just playing.

A typical lesson will begin with scales to warm up, a review of the previous week's material, and a new assignment. Students will memorize pieces, be proficient in scales and rhythms, and all the while laughing and having a great time. I am known with my students for my creative analogies and flexibility to try new things in order to adapt to the students strengths and weaknesses. My students look forward to coming to their lesson, and that is very rewarding as a teacher.

I primarily use the Suzuki method for Violin and Viola, because it offers progressive steps to mastering technique, style, and musicality. My curriculum includes the use of Winning Rhythms, Wohlfahrt studies, All for Strings Theory, Essentials for Strings, and many more beginner and advanced studies; including shifting and double stops.

I love music and I love working with people; teaching is just icing on the cake. I look forward to helping you achieve your goals and discover your talents and I hope we can learn together. I look forward to meeting you!

*** Studio Equipment ***
Music Stand and Keyboard

*** Travel Equipment ***
I expect the student to have their instrument, and necessary accessories ie: rosin, shoulder rest, strings, books, and music stand.

*** Specialties ***
I teach Music on Violin, Viola, and Piano, as well as beginner cello. I am very creative in my teaching methods, though I use the Suzuki Method primarily for string instruments. I believe learning should be fun. I teach all the fundamentals of music from the beginning: counting rhythm, scales, reading music, theory.

Viola lessons, ages 3 and up. Levels beginner to NYSSMA solo 4.

About Arielle-Khrystiana
I began my musical studies at the age of six, starting off in my elementary school orchestra and chorus. A passion and talent for the violin led me to placing in competitions and festivals, and performing professionally in quartets and at wedding ceremonies later in high school. I began performing in rock 'n' roll bands in 2008, and began a teaching career in 2009. My students and students' parents have praised me for my musicianship, patience, and compassion. I am also an operatic soprano and musical theater musician, thus making me a diverse and well-rounded instructor. I teach in the traditional style, combining some Suzuki elements. For beginning voice lessons, we will focus on vocalizes, theory, and appropriate repertoire. I take a different approach to every student, realizing that not everyone learns the same, and that what may wo
rk for one student will not work for another. I am dedicated to assisting the musicians of the future. I firmly believe that being performer assists me in my teaching, because I can give my students the benefit of my performance knowledge and experience, preparing them not only for school concerts and NYSSMA festivals, but also other arenas, such as performing with rock musicians or in theater pits to earn extra cash after high school. I enjoy working with all ages, 3-83. I'm excited to meet you and assist you with the adventure that is learning classical violin! My students have also been recipients of several scholarships and awards.

*** Lesson Details ***
A combination of traditional and Suzuki techniques. Each lesson is uniquely tailored to fit the student's personal/musical goals, learning style, and skill level. Voice lessons will focus on healthy vocalism, beginning theory training, and sight-reading skills.

*** Studio Equipment ***
Many books on music history and theory, electric piano, clean, friendly atmosphere that is perfect for making music in!

*** Specialties ***
Classical violin, classical voice, basic theory. Early childhood, opera, viola, basic piano.

Wonderful results, and a lot of fun!

If you're looking for someone to start the violin with, look no further than Arielle D. She can start you from the ground up, even if touché never read or played music a day in your life. She will try different approaches if the standard book stuff isn't working. She's also great with scheduling, very easygoing with make-up lessons. She also made me feel very comfortable and relaxed during my lessons.

I can see a huge difference in his confidence as well as the quality of his playing. Nikita has been extremely patient with him and has been very flexible with his lesson times due to sports schedules. Thank you Nikita!
