I've been teaching Bass Guitar for about 15 years. I typically use the Hal Leonard Bass Guitar Method by Ed Freidland books 1, 2 and 3. Great set of books, Covers all aspect of bass playing. Early on, I like to introduce some Blues patterens for the 12 bar blues. These are easy to play but sound great so the students really like them. They give the student an idea of what they will be playing like. I love working with students of all ages and experience levels and I can't wait to meet you!

I took bass lessons with Jeff in my formative years as a musician (as did many of my friends). He is the perfect teacher: Highly skilled, informative, patient, friendly, challenging and a lot of fun!
Jeff was more than willing to teach me things I wanted to know but more importantly, he set me straight on developing good technique, note and chord chart reading, understanding theory, ear training and improvising. He also turned me on to tons of great life changing music that was not yet on my young radar! He is a walking encyclopedia of musical knowledge.
Lastly, he has remained a friend throughout my whole life. I've even had the honor of playing many gigs with him, something I would have never imagined as a young beginner!
From beginners to advanced students, Jeff is your man.
Thank you for everything, Master Stetson!"

Ben Miller's thorough knowledge of the instrument combined with his ability to explain & define concepts related to the lesson provided critical elements necessary to help free myself from the keyboard mentality and think in terms of the fretboard. A FIVE STAR TEACHER with TEN STAR TALENTS !!"

If you’ve ever seen or heard an MTV Unplugged concert, you’ve probably seen and heard an acoustic bass guitar. This is a hollow body instrument that is the size of an acoustic guitar, but has the sound of a bass. In the 1980s and 1990s, rock bands would perform their electric guitar songs with acoustic guitars, and bassists could be heard or seen playing these instruments that are not too common in the world of music. But if they made it all the way to the MTV screens for decades, why h …
