My goal as a teacher is to make students successful in their goals. I work with a variety of people; some of them study music for personal enjoyment and others for their musical career. Everyone responds differently to music, that is why I prepare special lessons for each student. It is important that my students enjoy what they are playing and for that reason I have a variety of repertoire that they can choose from.
From a lot of experience with beginner piano students, both young and adults, I have been able to find a regimen of piano teaching that combines time efficiency with fun. As the lessons continue, I slowly add new tools to each weekly lesson that are exiting and interesting. While working with intermediate to advanced students, I have had coached them to apply and get accepted into some of the top Universities and Conservatories in the country. I am also a composition teacher. I work with composition students from beginner to advance. My composition students, over the years, range from all ages starting at 7. My students, after the first year, have been able to write string quartets and piano trios. My advanced students have entered competitions all over the country and are very successful in their composition practice. Some of their compositions have been performed in famous concert halls and schools.
As a vocal coach, I work with students of all ages. The repertoire that I recommend to beginner students includes Disney, Broadway and classical music. For intermediate and advanced vocal student, I have successfully prepared them for competitions, Broadway and University auditions as well as personal enjoyment.
Most recently I held a piano, composition and vocal recital for my students at the world famous Steinway Hall in New York City. I believe that some students work better when there is motivation for performance activities. For that reason I host these type of events. Students that decide they want to take place in these events perform among all levels. I offer these performance opportunities as an invitation. Each student has a choice as to whether they would like to perform.

My 6yr old just took his first lesson and is hooked. Gigi is very sweet and stirred up an excitement in him. My son definitely liked the "idea" of learning the piano but is now confidant and actually writing his first song! Who knew, 5 notes and you can become a composer! BRAVO GIGI:)

Private Classical Piano Teacher

In my teaching philosophy, I always teach students to understand the music better throughout the historical concepts. To let them enhance their understanding of the connection between music and life.

I also stress that to be a good musician or artist, you have to learn how to be a good human being first. Because, people’s personality or character could reflect in their music as always.

1. To train the basic fundamental techniques 2. To learn the different style of the music throughout Baroque, Classical, Romantic and Modern music. 3. To train the performance mode 4. To learn how to "practice"

My 4.5 year old daughter had her first piano lesson with Jingci. I had learned how to play piano when I was a kid, so I could tell Jingci knows how to teach the basic foundation very well. She's firm yet patient and got my daughter to follow her instructions even though her attention span isn't that great at her age.

When I started playing Jazz there was hardly any reliable resource available
to teach me where I grew up. Through a vast hard-earned experience both as a professional pianist/keyboardist and teacher, I have created a system of learning that saves students countless hours of wrong practice and frustration understanding the theory side. Many times before the start
of a semester at the Jazz College where I teach I tell my students
that my course syllabus can be summarized in 2 words:
Applied, Theory. Those concepts connected when taught and applied to
students through an efficient system of enjoyable practice leads to students playing Jazz sometimes in 3-6 months!

"His lessons are engaging. I have not played piano for almost a decade, but I am learning fast, and he reignited my love of music again."

"Ms. Alty is a very patient yet thorough piano teacher. Since we left our hometown for Houston, it's been really difficult getting a piano teacher that mat
ches the same talent as our previous teacher. We had gone through 4 teachers in Houston. However finding Ms. Alty was like finding a rare gem at the top of the mountain.
She is very knowledgeable and has the skills to get a child to listen and actually want to practice. My children have improved tremendously and actually started playing more complicated musical piece.
My children love Ms. Alty and always look forward to having their piano class. I would recommend Ms. Alty if you're looking for a very musically knowledgeable and talented piano teacher who is both firm and gentle when teaching,"

"I used to take lessons in-person with Andree-Ann, a few years ago, and had to stop after I had some health problems. Since I cannot drive anymore and move
d outside of her area, we both decided to try out online lessons. I love it! I've been able to keep learning my favorite classical pieces despite my mobility issues and I'm glad I was able to keep her as my instructor. I always loved playing the piano, but I enjoy it even more ,because she helped me get to the next level, and I feel so much more musical!"

"I recomend all of you and your children to learn piano with Ms. Kim. She is friendly and patient teacher. I am a mom of two children they got lessons from
Ms. Kim over 7 years. My older one got into NYU piano program and my younger son is still playing the piano. I wish Ms. Kim can stay in NJ and teach my son continue though.
I was very happy to had her for my children because Ms. Kim help them so much .
My daughter had bad habits from previous teachers and didn" t want to practice, but Ms. Kim corrected and rebuilt good foundation and my dauthter enjoyed to play the piano as soon as she comes back from school. I am sure Ms. Kim's warmness and humorus teaching style made my daughter kept on playing. Finally she made my daughter got into piano major in NYU.
And Ms. Kim was so patient to my son. He started piano when he was 5. My son has difficulty on focusing whatever he does. But Ms. Kim taught him very interesting way. I thought either my son or Ms. Kim would give up, but Ms. Kim made my son to enjoy plalying the piano. She has music therapy degree and used lots of fun materials and lesson plans to made my son to focus on lesson time. He is grown up now and still playing the piano. I appreciate it so much to Ms. Kim.

"Ms. Alice is one of the most memorable piano teachers I've taken lessons with. I would always look forward to piano lessons because she would make them fu
n yet still be able to move forward in songs and techniques. Whenever Ms. Alice plays a section of a song for demonstration, I could feel the emotion behind her playing and I think that plays a role in her being an excellent piano teacher.
I enjoyed my lessons with Ms. Alice very much and I strongly believe that anyone who takes lessons with her will enjoy them as well."

"I was very shy was I started piano lessons with Ms. Charlene. Over the years, the musical skills I learned transformed me to a confident person who enjo
ys playing in front of an audience. At 10th grade, Ms. Charlene encouraged me to take the Advanced level Panel CM competition. That was a memorable experience! Now, I share my joy of playing piano by volunteering at church for many events."
