Hi, my name is Geoff and I play Double Bass, Bass Guitar, Cello and Piano. I played full time in a Symphony orchestra for 20 yrs., began playing Piano in 1963, Bass Guitar 1970, Double Bass 1977 and Cello 1982. I prescribe lessons complete with Solo, Ensemble, and Technical Playing and Reading Skills thoroughly as well as progressively. I make the lessons fun and interesting and relate well with all types of personalities. My students view me as a teacher and friend who' s a good listener when they have things like overloads in homework from school and other complications that kids face. They do great at NYSSMA and are asked to play in all ensembles at school. I love animals and my hobbies are hiking in the mountains including in snow and ice, camping, building things and work on my own car when I can. Most of my students stay with me for
8-10 yrs. and handle themselves very well in all ensembles. They play to earn scholarships for college as well and play for life. Happy Playing!
My daughter had few lessons with Geoff, so far it seems like her skills has improved.

About Luther A.
Luther unique talents as educator, instrumentalist, conductor, vocal coach, cinematographer, composer and arranger make him a sought-after teacher. Currently, Luther is working with the Bridgeport Board of Education at Roosevelt Elementary School for President Obama's Arts and Humanities Turn-Around Arts Initiative he is the Executive Director and Program Director of Blackwell's School of Music and Film and Minister of Music Director for New Hope Missionary Baptist Youth Singers.
Luther stays where I’m at and then helps me go the next step. That is useful for consistent gradual progress without the frustrations of moving either too slow or too fast (I am a beginning tenor saxophone player). Nice interpersonal style, patient and easy going, while methodical.

I think Luther is great. He works with my 10-year old son on piano, singing and even trumpet and violin as needed. My son has to work hard to progress, and Luther customizes the lesson plan for him and seems to understand him well. I'm really excited about them working together.

All lessons are incredibly flexible and are tailored to each student's needs, abilities, and goals. Do you have a book you've already been working from and want to continue with? Great! Do you not like working from a book at all? Also great! I am by no means strict, but together we will work hard to you craft your technique to maximize your potential!
PLEASE NOTE: I do unfortunately deal with chronic abdominal pain that has its ups and downs, so there are times that I will need to reschedule and/or cancel lessons with relatively short notice. If you are looking for strict consistency, I may not be the teacher for you; however, if you are willing and able to be flexible, I can be just as flexible as you are.
I look forward to the possibility of meeting and working with you!

Really like Steve's teaching ! Very easy and simplified instruction.Thank you ! Can't wait for the next Lessons.
My method of teaching focuses on building up strengths and knowledge so that a student can become proficient at learning on their own. I do this by creating a custom curriculum for each individual I teach. This accomplishes two things, keeping you as a student entertained and enthusiastic. I have background in music theory, and have taught for several years to beginners, and intermediate students. This has allowed me to learn to adapt to each individuals learning style so that they progress quickly, and comfortably.
Austin has been teaching private lessons since 2012. Austin has helped students find passion in music, prepare for performances, complete classes, and overcome stage fright. He also has taught several people with autism, helping them find a path that is suited for them. Allowing them to thrive in the subject.
Austin took private piano lessons in 2007 - 2009 with a professor from Stetson University. Austin was also mentored in guitar with several instructors over the course of 2 years. As an expert in his field, Austin looks forward to helping new students achieve their goals. Austin's goal is to create an environment that is personable, fun, informative and energetic!
A practical approach to all the fundamentals you need to get playing quickly and guidance on how to practice to learn the music you care about.
I'm an experienced teacher with a background as a full time performing musician. Music was a big part of my life from an early age and I've stuck with it pursuing it as a career path. I graduated from the University of Miami with a degree in Studio Music and Jazz Performance and since have been teaching and performing. The focus of my music career has always been playing original music with bands but teaching has always been something I've loved too.
I've formally studied both classical and jazz while playing in rock bands and learned to see the similarities in all forms of music. My favorite thing to teach people is songs they love and how to use the fundamentals of music to make playing their songs fun. Writing practical simple charts that show how songs work opens music up for people in ways they didn't think possible. Playing an
d singing together for the first time or finally having the light bulb moment when reading music makes sense is something magical. It's an amazing feeling and helping people learn how to makes me happy.
I've been teaching music for over twenty years and look forward to sharing my experience and knowledge with new students.
I've been working with Brian for four months now and have made excellent progress on guitar. Brian quickly adjusted to my experience level and has done an outstanding job of removing long-standing bad habits and reinforcing the good ones. He has a fresh approach which ensures students don't get bored and, best of all, instills confidence and a good stage presence. I'm on my way to being a better guitar player but more importantly, a better musician. I recommend Brian without reservation.
January 29, 2019
Brian has been great , he patiently provides simple tangible explanations for both guitar play and music theory. He is building a solid foundation for my musical growth and more importantly supporting and enhancing my love of music. I give Brian my highest recommendation, he's a natural teacher
"Akos F is an amazing teacher, he really knows his stuff very well and he teaches according to what I need and helped me achieve what I was looking for. He
is incredibly patient with me, gave me the tools and guidance that I need and I always enjoy taking his lessons."
"Julian should be at the top of your list for considering bass instruction.
I have been studying with Julian for a few years now. He has been such a wealt
h of knowledge. He is fluent in many many styles of music. His ability to connect with me is wonderful. I have never worried about being left behind during the lesson. He's patient, understanding, willing to go the extra mile to ensure that I absorb what he is teaching. In the beginning, he taught me theory, which was easily understandable. It was well explained and was used as a building block for the more advanced teaching that came later. There was never any pressure to learn faster. Everything was on my time, and at my speed. There was never a question of his loyality to my schooling. I can honestly say that he loves his students, and is overjoyed as they succeed. Since studying with him. I have now become a professional musician, playing in many different successful bands. Everytime I recieve a compliment, I think of him guiding me to become a better player. I owe alot of my success to him. On a personal level. Julian is honest, caring, and a role model to me. I am proud to call him my friend, I would enthusiasticly endorse him to anyone, of any age, at any level of playing to study with him. A+"
