Classical piano is very beautiful. Your fist homework assignment is to listen to it regularly to begin to understand it. Piano is a very logical instrument. I will break everything down for you in a simple way for you to understand. We will learn different styles and genres to make things interesting. We will learn how to write a song, play along to a track and learn to play by ear and by reading music. I am excited to get to know you and help you grow in your talent!
Leah, a teacher, singer/songwriter, musician, entertainer and Berklee College of Music graduate.
She loves teaching and loves her students. Her main joy in teaching is watching her students grasp a new understanding and appreciation for their desired art and growing in their skills and talent. She loves seeing her students overcome obstacles. In her lessons, Leah sets the tone for care and a safe space to truly grow fearlessly. It is important to grow in confidence in your craft. In lessons, she covers setting a foundation, different genres, confidence, warm-up exercises, vocal techniques, ear training, music theory, harmony, performance techniques, audition preparation, range, improvisation, agility, freedom and more. She focusses on a few things at a time and has her students grow into other areas to work.
Musically, she provides
sounds and smooth tones of Jazz and Soul. Her latest EP entitled SonKissed is Jazz influenced music with Neo-Soul vibes and a positive message about love and life. She has been singing around Boston and New York and writing and recording new music. She has great things in store for her in the near future and much music and passion to share with the world.
Originating from Henderson, North Carolina, she grew up singing in school, church and choirs including the Raleigh Girls Choir of Raleigh, NC. Taking singing and piano lessons grew her love for music. She always had a fondness of jazz music starting at a young age, as her father would play jazz music. Studying music has led her to perform in recitals, concerts and festivals such as the Mozart Music Festival with The Capital City Girl’s Choir in Vienna, Austria, to study and perform abroad in Valencia, Spain, to graduate from Berklee College of Music and to continue writing, performing and growing as an artist. Leah also enjoys being involved in and performing in community events as she gives back. It is very important to her to help others as many have helped her.
She gets much of her inspiration from influences such as Jesus Christ, her parents, Sarah Vaughan, Ella Fitzgerald, Dianne Reeves, Lisa Fischer, Sammy Davis Jr., Sade, Anita O’day, India Arie, Erykah Badu, Adele, Diana Ross, Alicia Keys, Whitney Houston, Michael Jackson, Mary Mary, Robin Thicke, Antonio Carlos Jobim, Esperanza Spalding, Miles Davis, Al Jarreau, Nancy Wilson, Ledisi, Sounds of Blackness, Take 6, Gretchen Parlato, and Quincy Jones just to name a few.
Leah was so knowledgeable and personable! After my first lesson, I’d say that she did a great job of explaining concepts that I typically struggle with, in simple ways. Her passion for teaching and her skill at singing both show! I’m so happy I found her!!

She's terrific. Bright , likable .easy to talk to. Her easily understood direction on what I should work on to improve has significantly moved me forward. Outstanding teaching abilities. I highly recommend.
Because different types of people learn differently, as a piano teacher, I pride myself in being adjustable to each student and their needs to start or further their knowledge of the piano and music theory. I am also well-versed in several different genres or styles of playing such as classical, pop, jazz, Japanese, and playing by ear. I am confident in catering my lessons towards what each person wants to learn at various difficulties.
I started playing the piano when I was just 4 years old--though at the time, I practice begrudgingly, music took hold of me ever since. Music is a great way to express oneself and share with others how you feel where words may fail. I am a big believer of art helping to bridge gaps and help communication with those around us.
Because of teachers I've had that were strict when I needed a push, funny, eccentric, and caring when I needed a laugh, and most importantly believed in me, I aspire to provide the same encouragement to others.

Audiences throughout the U.S. have heard Ecuadorian and Puerto-Rican Mezzo-Soprano Linda C. at venues including Carnegie Hall, the U.N., Lincoln Center, the United Palace Theater, and Repertorio Español, as well as in theaters throughout Europe. Described as having a voice that is “elastic and luxurious…” (Ars Raving Mad), Linda began her 2018/19 season as a part of Martina Arroyo’s Prelude to Performance. She later went on to perform as an Apprentice Artist in Sarasota Opera’s Winter 2019 season, and just recently sang the role of María Magdalena in El Caminante de Nazaret and as a soloist in Ben Yarmolinsky's The Constitution with the Vertical Player Repertory Theater.
Linda has made appearances with the New York Lyric Opera Theater at Lincoln Center and Carnegie Hall and made her Italian operatic debut as La Cesca in Puccini’s Gian
ni Schicchi with Si Parla, si canta and Centro Studi Italiani in 2017.
In addition to her operatic career, Ms. C. has also showcased her vocal versatility in her concert and recital work. She has performed as a soloist with various orchestras and ensembles throughout New York City including the Mimesis Ensemble, Queens College Choral Society, Voces Unidas, and the Cantanti Project, performing in concerts, recitals and galas showcasing oratorio, new music, and Spanish opera, zarzuela, art song, popular song, and baroque music.
Her recent awards include first prize in the Friday Woodmere Music Club’s Young Artist Competition and first prize in the Bronx Arts Ensemble Young Artist Competition.
Linda received her Bachelor of Music in Vocal Performance from The Aaron Copland School of Music at Queens College. She was a CUNY Macaulay Honors Scholar, Richard and Mica Hadar Foundation Scholar, and the recipient of several prestigious awards including the Jane and Paul Smaldone Memorial Scholarship, the Helene B. Giudice Award, the Erik Horlick Memorial Award, and The Claire Bartels Freshman Award.
When she is not performing, Linda loves to teach and has five years of experience teaching both voice and beginner-intermediate piano.
I am a retired professor. It is always my dream to be able to sing some day, but I was intimidated by the technical requirements involved in singing until I met Linda. She is a wonderful singing coach, knowledgeable, honest, patient, and inspiring at the same time. Not only she has amazing voice, but also has very good ear and can immediately tell whenever one is off tune or not. Linda combines rigorous demand for perfection with warm encouragement and repeated demonstration of how to improve. I am blessed that I had her as my coach. After having just taken a course on bel canto offered by her recently, I feel that I really have learnt enormously about breathing, resonance, vibration, Italian pronunciation, and several beautiful songs, among others. I most strongly recommend Linda without any reservation to any one who is thinking to learn how to sing.

I have learned so much from Ms. Linda about vibrato and breath support, along with singing with healthy technique. She has also helped me achieve a mixed sound. She is a one of a kind teacher and worth every penny!

"a very good teacher"
"Ms. Alice is one of the most memorable piano teachers I've taken lessons with. I would always look forward to piano lessons because she would make them fu
n yet still be able to move forward in songs and techniques. Whenever Ms. Alice plays a section of a song for demonstration, I could feel the emotion behind her playing and I think that plays a role in her being an excellent piano teacher. I enjoyed my lessons with Ms. Alice very much and I strongly believe that anyone who takes lessons with her will enjoy them as well."
"My daughter has been taking lessons from Daniela for a couple of years now. She likes coming to Daniela's studio and looking forward for the recitals. D
aniela is very patient and is able to explain difficult concepts on very basic level. She teaches students not to give up and work on perfecting their pieces."
"I was very shy was I started piano lessons with Ms. Charlene. Over the years, the musical skills I learned transformed me to a confident person who enjo
ys playing in front of an audience. At 10th grade, Ms. Charlene encouraged me to take the Advanced level Panel CM competition. That was a memorable experience! Now, I share my joy of playing piano by volunteering at church for many events."
"She's amazing 👍"
"Fawn is Very good with children. My son really listens to everything she teaches him and he is engaged with what she teaches him. He knows she expects his
music theory and note spelling done each week as well as the songs and reading about whatever composer she assigns. Once he passes a certain level, she springs a test on him to find out what has stuck with him and become part of him and what has not. She is excellent. She's got an A++ personality as well. My wife and I couldn't be happier with this music teacher."
