Private Classical Piano Teacher

You will learn to improve your tone and develop a better sense of style for the music. You will improve your sense of rhythm. I will give you help to approach the piano in a natural manner to fit your hand and arms. You will learn how to add fingering to ease playing difficult passages. You will learn how to memorize, since most institutions require memorizing pieces. i have been teaching Classical Piano for 8 years. my students have won auditions spots at various schools. I want to be your next instructor.

About Mark

I NOW TEACH ONLINE LESSONS. I teach according to your individual needs. I only teach in my own studio. I do not travel anymore. I also have time to teach lessons every other week. You may inquire to me about my availability to teach every other week on Saturdays. I help you become successful on piano, violin, cello, viola, bass, guitar, or bass guitar. I help you learn the instrument and learn to read music with my own ideas using fun worksheets and songs you really like to learn how to play. I fill your voids with activities such as practice techniques, sub-lessons, and ear training. I guide you toward proper posture, tone development, and the ability to keep a steady beat. I help you develop your musical independence by tweaking lessons to help you succeed. I help you have fun learning to read music for your instrument using my materia

ls. I believe talent is not a factor in learning. Mastering an instrument is the result of effective instruction and step by step guidance toward foundations and skills. I love to teach private lessons because I believe in spreading the word to make the great gift of playing music available to many. It is an inherited right and gift to enjoy a lifetime of personal satisfaction from playing a musical instrument. I love to help students build confidence and make progress. I help them problem solve by going through problems with them. I teach "how to think" and how to become a life long learner of the instrument. I love the challenge of finding ways to help students become successful at every step of the way. I am excited and enthused to be apart of student progress. I am influenced by many 20th Century performers including Van Cliburn, Oscar Peterson, George Shearing, Erroll Garner, Yudi Menuhin, Issac Stern, Dave Brubeck, and Horowitz among others. I am passionate in my teaching about providing an effective solution to my student's needs. I am pleased to announce my teaching has awarded a cello student a spot at Del Sol music high school for the 2017-2018 school year. this student of mine passed an audition January of 2017 as a result of my teaching. The student worked very hard and followed my instruction very well. Congratulations!! I am also pleased to announce two of my cello students have both passed auditions to play in the Las Vegas Youth Orchestra starting in September 2017, September 2018, and September 2019. They both auditioned during May 2017, May 2018, and May 2019. Congratulations to both of you!!! There is also a viola student of mine who has passed audition for LVYO in May 2019 for the September 2019 season; Congratulations!! I also had a violin student who passed auditions for LVA (Las Vegas Academy) a couple of years ago. I have no connection to these organizations. These students all worked hard and followed my instruction. I can help you learn as well. Recently with the development of "octave" strings, if you have been split between learning violin, viola, or cello; these strings installed on a violin or viola make the instrument sound like a cello. It is really something. They are tuned an octave below, so they sound very low. A lot of cello music will have to be transcribed for owners of these instruments installed with "octave" strings. Videos can be found on YOU TUBE of these instruments played. They are ordinary violins or violas strung up with thicker strings to sound an octave below.

I am a professional educator who works with both children and adults, and has the patience to help them. I am a performer who has over 30 years of public experience in solo playing as well as ensemble work. I have performed at Nordstrom for nine years, and performed at many private functions. I have performed classical as well as jazz music as part as my performance experience. I have taught private lessons for well over 20 years. I'm sorry, as of Summer 2016 I do not travel to student locations. I teach at my studio as well as online. If you are among the many parents who home-school your children, you should consider music lessons for them. There are many benefits of home-schooling, but unfortunately students miss out on specials. Practicing an instrument can make up for that and also teach critical learning habits and personal skills toward learning in general. Give me a try, in my studio or online; I can help you learn.

*** Lesson Details ***
I believe in personalizing your approach to the strangeness of the instrument. You need to learn much about posture, and proper tone production within the first year. Method books are not "how to" books. You need a teacher to guide you toward becoming familiar with the instrument. You also need to learn how to listen to the sounds you make as you play. To develop "musical independence" you need to become musically literate, develop tone production skills, and internalize a steady beat. Rhythm and tone are basic concepts that must be mastered to maximize pleasure in playing your instrument. Learning how to problem solve is another skill I teach so you can help yourself toward progress.
I believe in using the instrument in daily activities such as playing "Happy Birthday" at family get together. Christmas Songs or Hanukkah Songs can bring much joy during December family parties.
A musician in the house brings much joy during holidays and celebrations; and the families are brought closer together. Memories are created and last forever. Playing an instrument is exciting and expresses what can not be said using words. I believe in teaching students based on their strengths, and building upon them. I am excited to help you learn!!

I only teach in my own studio and online. I do not travel anymore.

You can advance quickly if you are taught to listen to yourself and follow my instruction. I will guide you every step of the way to understand how music making works. Music lessons are fun and enjoyable. I am pleased to guide you through your learning every step of the way. My students in Las Vegas have had much success with my teaching and guidance. I will succeed where others fail. You will reap the benefits of my professional instruction. I bring a wealth of teaching experience, teacher training, and professional playing experience to every lesson. Most music store studio instructors have very little or no teacher training. Playing experience does not make one a helpful teacher. Failure to learn "how to" teach along with not earning any teaching credentials will not make anyone an effective music instructor.
I have experience teaching children and adults with autism within a variety of functioning ranges. They learn in their own unique style which suits them best.
*** Studio Equipment ***

Mark is a great teacher, not only for his knowledge in music but for the instrument as well. He is a patient and kind but will also encourage you to break out of your comfort zone to guide you towards the goals you want to achieve on your instrument. I really enjoy my lessons because not only am I getting better on the upright bass, I feel the lessons have helped me become a better musician.

About Kristie

Kristie is a professional musician based in Las Vegas, with a strong background in both teaching and performing music. She has over ten years of experience teaching music lessons to students of all ages and levels. Kristie is accepting new students for weekly 40-minute lessons.

*** Kristie's Teaching Background ***
Kristie graduated summa cum laude and with Honors with a Bachelor of Music in harp and piano performance from the University of Arizona in 2004, where she studied with Dr. Paula Fan, Regents Professor of Piano and principal pianist of the Tucson Symphony Orchestra. Kristie was honored as the Outstanding Senior of her undergraduate class. She is now a doctoral candidate at the Jacobs School of Music at Indiana University.

As a doctoral candidate at Indiana University, Kristie has the background and capability to teach beg

inning to advanced students. With a doctoral minor field in music theory, Kristie provides students with a thorough understanding of how music actually works.

Kristie also teaches improvisation and playing from lead sheets.

*** Ten Great Reasons to Join Kristie's Music Studio ***
1. Kristie loves to really get to know her students, so that she can tailor lessons to fit each student's particular goals and interests.
2. One of Kristie's foremost priorities as a teacher is to help her students learn to teach themselves. Independent learning skills are valuable in all areas of life, particularly schoolwork.
3. Kristie seeks a balance between challenging her students and cultivating creativity.
4. As a professional musician with over fifteen years of experience, Kristie has the capability to take those students who are serious about playing music from the absolute beginning to the advanced collegiate level.
5. Kristie is a nationally award-winning musician known for her impeccable technique, beautiful tone, and precise rhythm. She is committed to imparting these qualities to her students.
6. Kristie uses her strong background in music theory to help her students understand how music is put together, from the simplest concepts of key and meter to complex theories of phrasing.
7. Kristie teaches a range of musical skills, including improvisation and composition.

9. Kristie encourages all her students to have fun playing music!
10. Kristie's piano studio is a nurturing environment where students of all ages and all levels feel safe, welcome and supported in their musical journey.

*** Getting Started ***
At the first lesson, Kristie will get to know you and ask questions about your goals and interests, so that she can tailor the lessons to fit your needs.

If you are a brand-new beginner, Kristie will start with an introduction to music and get you going with several fun pieces to go home and practice.

If you are a transfer student or if you already play another instrument or sing, it is helpful to bring any previous or current music books and to be prepared to play a couple of pieces. These pieces do not necessarily need to be memorized or performance-ready; the idea is to give Kristie an idea of what you already know and where you would like to grow.

*** Lesson Details ***
For beginning piano students, Kristie uses the Faber method.

Lessons typically include music theory. Students will be given clear assignments to practice and complete.

Depending on the student's level, background, and interests, piano lessons may also include:
Scales, arpeggios, or études (technical development)
Improvisation and playing from lead sheets (for pop or jazz music)
Composition (learning how to create and notate your own music)

*** Studio Equipment ***
Kawai baby grand piano
Lyon and Healy harps

*** Special Needs ***
Please inquire, as this is on a case by case basis.

Kristie taught my son harp for 1.5 years before he left for college. He absolutely loved Kristie. She is patient, and makes the lessons interesting and engaging. She allows students to choose from a selection of music so that they learn how to play something they like. She encourages experimentation and engagement. My son wanted to learn the harp because it was interesting, not because he wanted to be a world class performer. Kristie really got that and made the lessons something he looked forward to every week. And she herself was a world class performer so if that's what you're looking for in a teacher, she can deliver that to. Kristie is a super teacher; my son still keeps in touch with her and says lessons with Kristie were one of the highlights of high school.
July 22, 2019
I was nervous walking into my first piano lesson, as I was COMPLETELY out of my element, though I knew that I had a passion to start learning. Kristie made me feel at home and reassured me that this was normal. She is extremely informative, and not only teaches you what you need to know, but explains WHY things are the way they are- which further developed my love for the music. Also, I have noticed that she is good at knowing where to start. She saw that I was picking it up quickly, so advanced quickly to challenge me more. Loved every lesson so far, and look forward to the future ones as well!!!!

We've had the best first time lessons experience with Kristie. She is knowledgeable, patient and extremely flexible. I especially appreciate the way she is able to reign in my seven year old's often wandering attention span. I look forward to continuing to work with Kristie in the future.

Private Classical Piano Teacher

I have been teaching private piano lessons for over 15 years from the beginners from age 5 to intermediate students. My lessons include: piano technique, theory, ear training and solfege singing. Your lessons will be customized depending on your interests and needs. I am especially good with younger students. In addition to teaching piano, I have taught music/choir from elementary to high school level at public schools. I have a Nevada State Teaching License in K-12 Music and 9th-12th Vocal Music. I have a B.A. in Music Education with Piano Performance and a M.A. in Education. I would love to hear from you!

About Akiko

Hello! I have been playing the piano ever since I was 6 year's old, and have been teaching piano over 15 years. I began teaching piano when I was working on my Bachelor's Degree in Music and also taught vocal music at a local elementary school. After receiving a B.A. and a teaching license, I have taught vocal music at elementary schools and choir at both middle and high schools. Because of this extensive teaching experience at schools, I am good with young children and teens.

Even as a pianist, I strongly believe that ear training and solfege singing play a big role in learning to play piano. In addition to teaching playing technique and artistry, my lessons include music theory, ear training, sight-reading and solfege singing. I specialize in classical music.

I homeschool my daughter, so I am available during the day to especi

ally teach homeschool children and their families. I am fun, organized, very patient, and I am an excellent teacher. I can't wait to hear from you!

January 31, 2018
After only a couple months with Ms Graves, my two teen-aged daughters are successfully playing the piano by actually reading the music! Ms. Graves guides the music choices based on the studen’s interest and the relatively quick success motivates the girls to practice on their own. We couldn’t be happier with our choice in piano instructors. Ms. Graves is encouraging and patient.

Grandson has been taking lessons for about two years. Highly recommend Akiko. She knows how to keep my grandson focused.

Learning to read music, play piano chords, scales, accompaniments, different styles, entire songs, and pieces can feel overwhelming to the beginner. I like to teach in a fun and relaxed way, but also challenging to do your best and believe in yourself. I know that with the right approach every person can learn and improve their skills!

From my years of experience, each student is unique and learns differently. I like to work with people from all walks of life who have decided to take on learning how to play piano for the joy and numerous benefits it provides. I have worked with children that have challenges such as ASD, ADHD, and emotional issues and find them to be some of the best students.

My priority is to make learning piano a fun but challenging activity that you can benefit from. i like to create a learning space where you feel safe to explore and challenge yourself.

Private Classical Piano Teacher

I want to help you be more creative with your unique musical expression. I fell in love with music as a child and want to pass on my love of music to help others to grow musically. I have spent the past 50 years performing and teaching music in just about every setting in New York and Los Angeles. I have taught many adults and children on all levels from beginner to advanced and professional musicians. I work on piano technique, Jazz improvisation, composition, music theory, and music production. I have also coached many pro and semi-pro musicians to advance and develop their careers. I will do whatever it takes to help you grow your music to the next level. I love teaching and look forward to finding out how I can help you reach your musical goals.

About Richard

I am a Professional recording artist, in the field of Jazz and World music. I have multiple CDs out that have been played and sold internationally. In my performing career I tour internationally performing both original music and World music. In my own music, I for a very long time have been interested in the meeting of rhythm and beautiful harmony. Growing up in 60s and 70s I had the very good fortune to hear many of the legends of Jazz ( and to study with a few of them-Victor Feldman, Clare Fisher, and Mike Garson were some of my teachers). I have bachelors degree in music, and a Masters degree in Film Composition from the Grove Music Conservatory in LA.
Along with my own musical interests, I have also always loved to teach music. I enjoy helping to grow others musianship- whatever this means. I teach all levels and ages. I think

that the fundamentals of music, such as piano technique, theory and music reading are all important; but I also think all musical subjects should be taught in a way that allows for the growth of the student's own creativity and personal self expression. I have taught Jazz improvisation to many students, along with music composition, song writing, applied music theory , and music production. I also have coached many professional music careers to advance in new creative ways in the musical world. Also , I have worked with special needs kids, teaching them music and helped them to open up to the world of musical possibilities.
I believe that each person has their own unique song to sing, and that music is the tool to release this song and let it fly. It is only a matter of hewing away through the layers to release the diamond that is hidden inside.

July 4, 2019
Richard has taught the piano to members of our family for the past 12 years. When i decided to take lessons myself, i quickly developed a love for the process and an appreciation for my progress. When Richard suggested we continue our lessons through WhatsApp FaceTime after learning in person for a year, i decided to give it a try and have not regretted it. The lessons are efficient and Richard manages to keep me interested and challenged, with a great balance of technical and practical tips that help me enjoy so much my progress .
June 27, 2019
Richard is great to work with. Flexible and patient. Our daughter had no previous knowledge of music and now can play music by reading the music.

It's wonderful to have a teacher who also uses niggunim as lesson material.
June 27, 2019
Richard is a top musician and an amazing teacher. He teaches methodically and with expertise. My son learned so well and plays beautifully (despite learning exclusively via video chat!).
We are so happy we did this, my son plays proudly by small events we make at home.
Thank you Richard!

Tell me your goals and I will adapt my teaching strategies to help you achieve them! I have over 15 years of teaching experience in United States and Mexico. I like to teach in a relaxed friendly environment that builds a relationship of respect and trust between me, the student, and their parents. I make sure my students build a strong foundation on piano technique, interpretation, musicality, and note reading. I focus on helping my students understand what they are learning and not only memorize and repeat. All ages are welcome and I can also teach in Spanish!

About Luis

I began his piano studies at the age of ten in Mexico. Later in my life I obtained a Bachelor in Electrical Engineering and a Music Associate Degree with emphasis in piano. In 2016 I completed my Bachelor of Music in Piano Performance at the University of Arizona, and received training and instruction as a Dance Musician at the University Of Arizona School of Dance.
Recently I finished my Master’s degree in Piano Performance at Sacramento State University where I also took harpsichord lessons on the side. At Sacramento State I held positions as teacher assistant for the piano class for music majors, student assistant as singer accompanist, and Wind Ensemble pianist. During my studies I received the student research award and published an article entitled “How to Find Greatness in Music” in the university journal.
Before moving to Las Veg

as during Summer 2019 I worked as pianist for the Sacramento Ballet company, and collaborated with the Impulse/Anima Dance project and Linda Bair Dance Company. In addition I held a position as music ministry pianist at St. Robert Catholic Church while teaching privately in the Sacramento area.

"Great teacher
Wonderful teaching style
"I like her she is the best teacher never have , she so sweet and intelligent I really. Recommend to all kids and parents for teaching"
"Troy is a really patient instructor. I started these lessons as an adult with no prior musical training. I am enjoying the lessons and despite the fact th
at I never quite have enough time to practice as I should, sometimes even only having the lesson time with him, I still feel I made some progress. I also enjoy the discussions we have on music theory. I am trained as a scientist and when I read theory I have parse it through my own way of thinking about things. I find that Troy is a really good teacher and able to communicate in a manner that is easy to understand. I highly recommend him!"
"Excellent first lesson. Engaging and fun. Looking forward to the next one!"
"Max is an amazing instructor and I would recommend him to anyone who is looking to seriously learn and enjoy the piano. Before I began my lessons with Max
, I was stuck on the same piece for two months, there was very little progress being made. I had a total of two lessons with Max and now I'm able to comfortably play the piece from memory. I cannot stress enough how beneficial he was in my huge progress jump. I look forward to every lesson knowing I'm going to learn and be exposed to something new every time. I've always wanted to learn how to play the piano, but I thought I was too old now to even try. I'm so thankful that I took the leap anyway and started this amazing journey of learning the piano and I couldn't of asked for a better guide than Max on this journey."
"My son has been taking piano lessons for the past 10 months. Alex, can at times, be distracted and frigidity, Mr. Munslow has always been excellent at red
irecting and working with him.

I highly recommend Stan Munslow."
"My daughters and I took lessons from Daniela between 1998 and 2009, 11 years. Daniela taught my youngest daughter through high school, preparing her with
excellent skills, technique, and theory to enter into music conservatory. Daniela is gifted, energetic, and passionate in bringing out the best in each student to the best of his/her ability. Her professionalism, passion and high standards are reflected in each lesson and recital as well as in her choice of repertoire. I can say with the utmost confidence that a better teacher would be very difficult to find."
"I am 85 years old and hired Fawn to teach me piano. It was my childhood dream. Within the 2 years, I've been taking, I have completely mastered a high con
certo level of playing. Under Fawn's guidance, I have moved quickly, thoroughly and efficiently. I even performed on stage 2 different years in her Talent Share's (audiences of over 100)! Fawn has taught me classical, pop, blues, jazz and ragtime. I love playing the blues and songs from my childhood. Fawn does a great job with understanding my goals and giving me tools that fit me and help me achieve them. She is beautiful and a very patient, gentle, loving and intuitive teacher. One day I was making an excuse for my mishap plain by telling her my arthritis had been acting up all week. She laughed and said jokingly, "Bernard, don't blame your arthritis for not practicing!" She's hilarious. I am blessed to have found Fawn. The hours of joy playing the piano has brought me and my wife is priceless. Thank you, Fawn! See you next Tuesday!"
