My grandson is 7 years old and I was worried how he would be. He seemed to enjoy it and Edward said he was a little surprised that he stayed focused. Must be a result of Edward being able to keep him relaxed and interested in learning. It was his first lesson ever, hoping he will continue and enjoy his learning experience with Edward.

I have transcribed and written several bass books for Hal Leonard's Bass Play-Along series.

I like to teach musicians to learn music theory by learning their favorite songs and then dissecting them to find out what makes them work.

I can teach you to read notes and chord charts and get you ready for auditions and performances.

About Nick

About Nick: He is a full-time professional musician who has taught hundreds of students how to play. You can see him play five nights a week at the Fremont Street Experience in Las Vegas! Nick has also transcribed over a dozen books for the Hal Leonard Publishing Co. He has spent time as

I am happy to teach intermediate to advanced students who want to improve their capacities as a musician. You can expect a regimented lesson plan that will help you reach your goals in an efficient manner if you are willing to put the time and effort in.

For my students, the necessary foundation consists first of knowing all seven modes of the major scale across the entire fretboard in all 12 keys, all barre chord shapes, and the ability to read standard music notation. If these fundamentals are not mastered at the time of the first lesson, half of the lesson will be dedicated to teaching them, and the other half will be dedicated to learning one song that a student will commit to learning for that group of lessons.

Once the fundamentals are mastered, the entire lesson can be dedicated to becoming fluent in whatever style(s) they desire to play at an advanced and professional level at. This is done through transcriptions of bass parts from records, analyzing transcriptions, ...

"My favorite weekend activity is bass guitar lessons with Ben--he's been a huge key to where I stand now with my skills. Right from the first lesson, you're already given homework and expectations to meet and ONLY because Ben absolutely does his best to help and support your goals and what you intend to accomplish in the future. He wants you to succeed. :)"

Ben Miller's thorough knowledge of the instrument combined with his ability to explain & define concepts related to the lesson provided critical elements necessary to help free myself from the keyboard mentality and think in terms of the fretboard. A FIVE STAR TEACHER with TEN STAR TALENTS !!"

"Jeff Stetson is & has been my #1 recommendation to learn to play music for 20+ years!

Jeff was probably the best thing to happen to me as a teenager. I took bass lessons from Jeff for 5 years & in that time, my world of music expanded as did my skills in playing music. My lessons with Jeff prepared me well enough to enter into college level music courses. If I had an audition, Jeff zeroed in on what I needed to know & helped me get the gig. His study techniques work, if you work em'! He will show you what you want & you will get a whole lot more. Ask him about the Louie Louie/Wild Thing thread & you will get the history & learn to play R-n-R, the Blues, R.n.B, Funk. & the foundations of Jazz. All levels, all styles, Jeff Stetson is my #1 recommendation for learning music. Thanks Jeff, I am positive you helped keep me out of trouble & possibly jail too."

"At 61 years old I wanted a challenge, and that was to learn how to play the bass guitar. Having had absolutely no previous training, and being quite terrified, James gave me the confidence that this was possible to achieve.

His knowledge to teach a simple approach in the theory of music, his patience, and ability to instruct in a way that makes sense, made learning exciting for me.

Highly recommend him to anyone who is interested in going beyond what they think they're capable of in a caring one on one environment. :)"
