*** Lesson Details *** After so many years since I grabbed a pair of drum sticks for the first time, I still get the same joy and excitement when I play music with drums nowadays. The better I have an idea about music, the more fun I get. It seems that my drumming gets better as long as I have specific goals every time I practice playing drums, and that keeps me wanting to play more.
By teaching how to play drums, I like to share this fun with you. In order to do that, I will make an ideal practice plan specifically designed for you. If you know what songs you like to play, then I will show you what to practice on drums and how you are doing. It might be helpful if you understand the song in terms of what it consists in term of verses and choruses, chord changes, instrumentation, etc. Whenever you like, I can talk about these things as well. You could take it as a kind of music theory, but I keep in my mind that your primary interest is getting better on drums.
If you do not have particular songs in your mind right now but you want to play drums, No problem. I will be happy to introduce you many different kinds of songs/tunes until you find one to play. Or if you just want to play some hot drum solos, I sure got some great stuff to work on to it. Either playing a song or playing just solo drums, I will show you many different techniques to work on, and I will keep watching how you are doing on drumming. I look forward to meeting you and starting work on building your fun with music! Thank you for visiting my profile site! Yuichi (pronounce 'you-each-ee')

Our son is 7 years old and started drum lessons with Yuichi several months ago. My son absolutely loves his classes with Yuichi and would go more than once a week if he could. We are very happy with Yuichi. He makes the lesson fun and interesting for our son, and at the same time teaching him what he needs to know so he continues to make progress. He is a great match for our son.
I will break down the nuances of learning the bass in a friendly, clear, and articulate manner. We will discuss various concepts of the bass guitar in the styles and songs you enjoy most.
A graduate of the University of Rochester with a B.A. in Music and Psychology and trained at renowned National Guitar Workshop, Adam is an experienced teacher and performer on the guitar, piano, ukulele, and bass in a variety of styles, including rock, pop, jazz, classical, and folk. Adam loves to share his passion for music with others, and ever since his first student, an autistic child, Adam has sought to make learning music fun, regardless of age, style, and ability.
*** Lesson Details *** My approach to teaching music is strictly an individualized one, catering to the specific interests and goals of each student. I believe that if learning music is truly enjoyable and fun, students will develop a sincere love for their instrument. In teaching children, my emphasis is on instilling in them a love of music. While progressing in mus
ic obviously requires preparation outside of lessons, I consciously avoid asking students to practice. Instead, I incorporate the music and styles that appeal most to the student and use them as vehicles for teaching concepts.
I strive to make learning music fun, regardless of age, style, and ability. I organize an annual recital to showcase my students' talents and hard work.
*** Travel Equipment *** I will provide all music and instructional materials, and ask that students provide a clean, quiet area to hold our lesson, ideally with a music stand. I also ask that a student provide their own instrument. If providing an instrument is not possible, I ask that the student notify me so I can provide an instrument for them in the interim.
*** Specialties *** I specialize in a wide range of styles on the acoustic and electric guitar, piano, ukulele, and bass.
I explain music theory in a fun, clear, and articulate manner and show its benefits and application in song writing, learning music, and playing by ear. My extensive background in rock, classical, pop, folk, and jazz allows for a truly cater my instruction to my student's tastes.
I make it my mission to structure my lessons on my student's goals and interests and avoid imposing concepts that don't interest my students.
Adam is a teacher par excellence. I am self taught from a well known book. I was doing well I thought until I got stuck. Adam gently showed me where I erred and made great suggestions for me to move on correctly. I never felt rushed or “ put down.” Adam was patient, open for questions, encouraging, comforting. I know I need much help to correct and advance in guitar from matters such as tuning, restringing, reading, and other things too many to write about. I look forward to my next lesson with enthusiasm.

Adam is prompt, professional and patient. He allows you to learn at your own pace and makes lessons fun by teaching popular songs.

He is very knowledgeable and shows me what a wonderful instrument the guitar is. I'm always excited to play more after our lessons. Would highly recommend him to anyone who wants to pick up the guitar.

He is very resourceful and knowledgeable so he can teach a lot of different genres from classical to the pop songs we hear today. His ability to teach makes it easy for me to learn and understand songs and pieces. May 5, 2019
Jimmy has a nice balance between encouraging interest and basic understanding of music theory, with the fun of learning an instrument. His clear passion for music and teaching others to enjoy it too helps me progress on my personal goals, timeline and availability.
February 9, 2019
Jimmy is very knowledgeable and very approachable. In a short time, he has helped me to unlock the fretboard. Highly recommended.
My classes are very flexible when it comes to what the student wants. I can go from just teaching very basic bass playing to advanced harmonic concepts and jazz improvisation. On the first class, I give the student the choice of controlling our lessons materials about what they want to learn. Or the student can choose to let me control our classes, in which I will bring my own materials and ideas in which we should work and will go through the whole academic process of learning music.
Established New York musician. Berklee College of Music Graduate. Have been teaching for many years and know that each student has their own mindset and we need to work around each person`s goals and interests. I teach mainly pop, rock, blues, jazz, classical, funk, RnB. All ages and levels are welcome.
*** Lesson Details *** Lessons are very relaxed and we will focus on ways to practice and getting the student to learn what he/she wants. Some people just want to come and learn a few tunes, some want to really learn the instrument and practice all the time. It all depends on the individual and I`m more than ready to adapt for each one of my students with the methods I have. On our first class we will spend some time discussing what are the goals of the student and I will formulate a good plan so we can reach those goals in no time
. I usually have 3 main paths that the student can choose. 1st - Learn the instrument enough so you can play your favorite songs and have fun with friends. 2nd(most requested) - Learn the instrument from scratch. Study technique, repertoire, a little of reading and music theory and learn how to improvise. This will allow the person to have their own tools to study on their own after attending classes with me. 3rd - Usually people who have been playing before like this one. We will go deep in music theory, ear training, reading, improvising and technique. Always leaning challenging tunes that will develop the student skills. This one allows the student to follow a professional path on the future, or maybe go into a music college.
*Location Classes can take place at my studio or at your own location with an extra fee for transportation.
*Under 18 students For children under 18 parents are more than welcome to stay for the classes, tell me if there is any specific goal you are looking for or talk about any subject that you might want.
*AUDITION PREP I also help people to prepare for auditions. For this subject, I will tell you how to get ready for an audition. If you are trying to get in a college I have many contacts around the country and know how most auditions work and can help you with any question there might be. For auditions for orchestras or band we can work on repertoire and behavior to get you ready and all set to get accepted.
"If you are looking for someone to teach bass by reading of sheet music, stop now and get back some of your precocious tim.

"Mr. Blackwell is an outstanding music teacher! With the method he uses to teach, the student will not only be able to master playing the instrument but t
hey will also be able to read music. I am an older student who has never even touched a bass and in a matter of weeks I have been able to play songs under the instructions of Mr. Blackwell. Bravo to him and his teaching method!"
"Spiros is great! I've been taking bass lessons from him for a couple of years now and thanks to him, I can actually play now! He's a good teacher, teachin
g both elements of theory and also how to get the "feel" of music, and he's also fun to be around. I can say that without his lessons and the music he's sent me, I would not be nearly as good as I am today, nor as motivated to learn more."
