A teacher of mine once said if you aim for perfection, you get to be pretty darn good. I like to start with a small amount of material that the student can play very well, and use that to refine the basics. By taking a thorough approach (and playing beautiful music), the entire world of piano and music will slowly and surely open up to the pupil.
In my opinion, tone production and rhythm are the major factors that distinguish a great pianist (and make playing the most satisfying), so this is the major focus of our work. I have a very thorough understanding of proper technique and can prescribe exercises that will strengthen one's weaknesses.
I also have a unique background in that I studied jazz improvisation and classical composition, so I understand the inner workings of the music and can improvise in the styles (jazz, classical, baroque, romantic).

I started my formal music training at the age of four and have been giving music lessons since 2010. Most of my students reached and passed the short-term goals or exams I gave them, including NYSSMA, ABRSM, and some of them even got accepted into special high schools. Of course, all lessons are customized and catered depends on each student's abilities and goals. We can definitely work together to figure out the best way to help you or your child. I will as well teach you music theory, sight-read, ear-training, and a lot more techniques during our lessons. After all, we cannot play music without knowing some basic concepts or recognizing how they sound like, right? Take lessons with me, not only will you be playing songs in no time, but you will be building a strong foundation and skills of music making!
About Yung-Ai Chloe
I hope you will consider me for my passion, expertise and experience in music teaching. I also customize my lessons towards my students' abilities and goals. My greatest satisfaction is from seeing my students improve. I love helping people learn to play music; because music has been a constant

Joe teaches classical and jazz with composition and improvisation which allows students to have fun from the start. Joe has taught over 6 years, with a variety of ages, all the way from kids to senior adults.
My approach combines knowledge of composition and music theory with skills at the keyboard. My unique approach includes learning by ear not just from the page, improvising from the beginning, etc. and other experiential exercises.
Joe has studied popular teaching techniques like Suzuki and Bastien, but also informs students about the way famous pianists of the past, like Chopin, Liszt, and Brahms would approach the instrument.
Joe moved to Nashville in 2015 where he got into the gritty details of less traditionally taught sub-genres of music like rock, funk, R&B, pop. He took a course in piano pedagogy in college which explored how to meet the individual needs of developing musicians. He is a product of Belmont University School of Music, earning a degree in Commercial ...
