As the lessons continue, I slowly add new tools to each weekly lesson that are exiting and interesting. While working with intermediate to advanced students, I have had coached them to apply and get accepted into some of the top Universities and Conservatories in the country. My students, beginner intermediate and advanced levels, have been awarded for their performances and activities in schools and competitions.
I am also a composition teacher. I work with composition students from beginner to advance. My composition students, over the years, range from all ages starting at 7. My students, after the first year, have been able to write string quartets and piano trios. My advanced students have entered competitions all over the country and are very successful in their composition practice. Some of their compositions have been performed in famous concert halls and schools.

Most recently I held a piano, composition and vocal recital for my students at the world famous Steinway Hall in New York City. I believe that some students work better when there is motivation for performance activities. For that reason I host these type of events. Students that decide they want to take place in these events perform among all levels. I offer these performance opportunities as an invitation. Each student has a choice as to whether they would like to perform.

During my time with students, I strive to assist them in taking risks, discovering the joy of music, and making progress with their singing. No matter what their goals are- All-State Choir, opera, musical theatre, or just having fun, I love helping them reach them. By looking at different genres of vocal music, we will focus on many different aspects of singing, from music theory, to expressive performance, to the foundation of healthy singing.

I believe that every student is unique and learns in his or her own way. Therefore, I tailor the pace and focus of lessons on each student’s interests and abilities. I believe it is integral for all students to have an understanding of music theory and therefore, work on theory and sight-reading. About Megan
At the age of 4 I began producing musicals in my basement with my sister. This progressed to acting classes, piano lessons, and eventually the school musical in sixth grade. I began taking voice lessons when I was in eighth grade and have never looked back. Through high school, I focused on both classical and musical theatre genres, having leads in high school and community musicals and operettas. While attending the University of Delaware for my Bachelor of Music, I majored in Applied Music: Voice and had the privilege of performing lead roles in Sweeney Todd, The Pirates of Penzance, The Marriage of Figaro, and Die Fledermaus. In addition, I performed two recitals. I was also fortunate enough to be a member of the University of Delaware Chorale, traveling to both China and Spain for tours and competitions. I then attended UD for my Mast
er of Music in Vocal Performance where I maintained a full studio of undergraduate voice minors as a Graduate Teaching assistant.

I took my first pedagogy class at UD and began teaching voice lessons at the Community Music School during my junior year. My experience as a teaching assistant shaped me into the teacher that I am today. I love teaching and helping students reach goals! With my thorough pedagogical training and varied performance experience, I have a great deal to offer my students.

Megan was the best voice teacher I've had. She was very personable and friendly and more importantly, she was very supportive of my goals. She really emphasized bringing out the 'free' voice as opposed to just molding it towards a particular style, which helped boost my confidence. Highly recommended!

Meg creates a very welcoming and nurturing environment where students feel safe to grow and learn.

Meg is a wonderful teacher who I would recommend to anybody. One of the things I loved about her was how patient she was with me, even when I became frustrated with myself. She creates an open and warm environment where I felt free to make mistakes and explore my voice, but would always have learned something new at the end of each lesson.

About Kevin
I have been performing on stage since I was a child, training in classical voice, piano and acting. Having studied with world-class teachers and performers in these disciplines, I've learned that everyone can improve, sometimes revealing great potential. Combined with my professional experience in theater and opera, I aim to help each student experience the thrill of mastering their voice.

A good voice lesson should be invigorating. Although it's important to speak about ideas, singing is physical and a singer only learns by doing. I love working on any repertoire, and won't shy away from songs outside the classical realm. My lesson format is always based on the individual student's needs; mixing what they desire with what they need.

Kevin will help you unlock the potential in your voice and get you to a place of confidence while singing

I can't recommend Kevin enough, especially for someone like me, who's returning to voice lessons after many years. Kevin has debunked the prior myths I had about the voice and singing and I now feel confident to sing after a few warm ups and an hour of being awake and talking. Kevin has really simplified the singing process for me while also teaching me techniques that keep singing challenging and invigorating. My voice is the strongest, most authentic, and most consistent its ever been and I definitely owe that to training with Kevin.

A creative, patient, and talented teacher

I started singing when I first entered college, and I fell in love with it. My only problem was that I didn't have the experience or the knowledge on how to develop my voice. I have always wanted to be on stage singing and acting in musical theatre shows, but I didn't think I had the talent for it. Kevin helped to change this for me.

Kevin took me under his wing and right away my voice began to improve. I had a richer, deeper resonance and I started to be able to find control over my voice, my flexibility and range increased, and I started to find the carefree, easy singing voice that people strive towards.

Lessons with Kevin were always enjoyable. He is one of the most supportive people I know, and he has a way of making you feel good about yourself even if your voice is cracking or being uncooperative. I remember one time, I went to sing an F above the staff and my voice just broke completely and some really terrible sound came out. All Kevin said was, "There's that frog!" and we laughed it off and continued with the lesson.

One of the best aspects of Kevin's teaching is his ability to explain concepts clearly. He provides many different viewpoints for addressing issues with the voice and can clearly articulate solutions to your specific vocal needs.

In addition to being able to teach well, Kevin is also a very talented singer. He uses a lot of vocal models in his lessons (which only enhanced his ability to communicate concepts clearly), and I was always blown a way with how rich and resonant his voice was. I envied his ability to transition smoothly throughout all the ranges of the voice.

I know that I was not Kevin's easiest student to teach, but thanks to him I now have the confidence and the skill to get up in front of people and sing my heart out, and actually sound good! Last summer I landed the role of Rolf in our community theatre production of The Sound of Music. This would not have been possible without Kevin.

I learned more in 2 years than all of my years in singing

I started taking voice lessons with Kevin when I was a Junior in college. I had been seeing a voice teacher in NYC who had worked for years with many professional singers on Broadway. So, I wasn't sure what to expect when I started working with a grad student from the school of music (which mostly focuses on classical voice). I wanted to learn about classical voice but, I mostly wanted to continue working on musical theatre songs. So, I wasn't sure how much I could learn from a grad student who was young and learning about voice himself.

Kevin exceeded my expectations. On my first day with Kevin, I was nervous because all of my voice teachers in the past had been strict and would even occasionally yell at me. So, I could never fully be comfortable at a voice lesson because I had always been afraid to make mistakes. Kevin puts you at ease right away with his friendly and bubbly demeanor. He encourages you to give it your all and applauds mistakes and cracks because it means you are trying and getting to a new place in your voice that you're not used to. Kevin wanted to work on what I wanted to work on, however, he was also able to teach me things I had never been taught before with my old teacher like newer concepts and simply how to sing with a richer voice. Kevin was able to help me with all kinds of singing as he is trained in musical theatre, classical, and opera.

I knew I could also count on Kevin because of how honest he would be with me. He would tell me his honest thoughts about my work and any shows he came to see me in. I valued Kevin's opinion because he was ALWAYS straightforward with me.

Not only was Kevin a great teacher but, he was SO supportive of me. Kevin came to my rehearsals and performances to give me tips on how I could improve my performance and coached me on characterization singing. He even agreed to meet with me outside of our normal lessons if I ever needed help with an audition piece.

I could honestly go on and on about how wonderful Kevin was and I am so sad that I can no longer have him as my voice teacher due to distance. However, the things Kevin has taught me will always stay with me and I am sure I will use everything he has taught me for years to come.

I HIGHLY recommend Kevin R. as a voice teacher. No matter what kind of singer you want to be or how experienced or trained you are Kevin will meet your personal needs to help you reach your goals. He will challenge you, motivate you, and leave you feeling proud of what you accomplished. I learned more in the two years I worked with Kevin than I did in all of my years of singing. So if you are looking for a high quality, honest, and supportive voice teacher Kevin R. is perfect for you!

I've taught students who are just beginning and coached professionals - if you're looking to iron out some kinks or to finally follow your dreams of stardom and start from scratch, I'm your girl! :) I also offer character assessment in relation to Broadway and theater style singing.

About Laura
Music is definitely the universal language, and there isn't a genre I don't love; it's important to me that that aspect be brought to lessons, as well! From humble New Jersey beginnings to an opera career, I've seen the power of what music can do!

Whether it's opera, musical theater, folk, rock, or just public speaking, anything YOU love to do, I would love to teach you! Having taught all ages and levels, from first graders to adults, from someone who's never sung a note in his or her life to semi-professionals, I cater my lessons to what YOU as a student need and are interested in.

Lessons shouldn't be a chore - I like to foster an environment you look forward to being a part of! I also think that music, like any sport, is hard work, and takes seriously practice; even hobbies take concentration and application! I understand and can
work with many schedules and work loads, but I expect my students to put at least half the effort into their lessons that I do!

Take all levels. Everyone needs someone to evaluate and listen to help guide what you cannot see or hear.

About Dominic
Dominic M., America’s Tenor, has been singing in one form or another since the age of four. As a young man, Dominic began honing his skills of singing and acting through Community Theater. His voice and career were forever changed when vocal coach and mentor, Suzanne Ferris-Hammer introduced him to the great voice of Mario Lanza. From the moment Dominic heard the voice of Mario Lanza, he began to fashion his own voice in that image.

Dominic continued to expand his career by developing his own show, which includes the songs of Mario Lanza in their original keys. These shows were held in some of the finest NYC Cabarets such as Don’t Tell Mama, Duplex Café, Danny’s Skylight Café, Café 44, and Eighty Eights. He has also performed these shows at The New Palace of the Performing Arts of New Jersey and at Odettes in New Hope, PA.

Dominic
has performed in professional dinner theater with Palame Enterprises. Some of the great shows he performed in were “Singing In The Rain”, “Yankee Doodle Dandy”, and an original production called “Ellis Island”, in which he had a starring role.

In 1999 Dominic competed in The World Championships of Performing Arts. This event featured over 1500 competitors from 30 countries competing in the disciplines of acting, comedy, dance, singing and modeling. After five days of competition, Dominic was named the first Grand Champion Performer of the World. Following the championship, Dominic was asked to perform at the Athletes and Entertainers for Kids Shaqtacular 4, with such celebrities as Shaquille O’Neal, Paula Abdul, Bruce Jenner, and Jeffery Osborne. Dominic Has also performed with Pat Cooper, Tom Jones, The Duprees, Rod Stewart, Smokey Robinson and Many More.

Another dream came true when Damon Lanza, son of Mario Lanza, and long time friend of the Lanza’s, Bob Dolfi, bestowed Dominic with the honor of singing at the Mario Lanza Society’s 38th Anniversary Pre-Ball Dinner in Philadelphia. Since that event, Dominic has had the honor of performing annually in the church where Mario Lanza first sang at the age of 16. At the 40th annual ball, he co-hosted the pre-ball dinner with Katherine Grayson, co-star of Mario Lanza. Dominic has continued to expand his repertoire performing at the Claridge Casino in Atlantic City and as a guest artist at the Atlantic City Film Festival.Dominic is also in his fourth Year as a headliner at the nations largest Italian festival in Milwaukee WI. other festivals have been in Tampa and Chicago plus many more.

About Mary
Mary is a Tony nominated writer, actress, and teacher whose Broadway credits include Martha Jefferson in "1776" and Grace Farrell in "Annie". She was a starring soloist In Leonard Bernstein's "Mass" at the Kennedy Center and the Metropolitan Opera and toured as featured vocal with Michel LeGand in concerts including Carnegie Hall. Off Broadway credits include her own musical, "Cradle Song". She studied voice with the great Sue Seton and later with opera star and tenor coach at the Metropolitan Opera, Felix Knight. She teaches a combination of both their legendary techniques. Former students have appeared on "Thirt
y Rock", Gilmore Girls", "Law and Order" and others. Her goal in working with her students is not only to teach healthy vocal technique, but in keeping with her theatre background, her strong belief that "Every song is a scene or monoglogue" leads her to make sure the student know what they are singing or speaking about, and can do so with a clarity of emotion and dramatic intent.
She has a BA in theatre/voice from the University of Kansas where she serves on the Advisory Board For the Department of Theatre and Film and has an MFA from the Graduate Musical Theatre Writing Program at NYU Tisch School of the Arts where she is a guest lecturer. She is a member of AEA, SAG/AFTRA, AGMA and The Dramatists Guild.
"Mary is able to reach not only those students who are already excited about theater but inspire those who have no previous knowledge of it. To watch these young men and women become more and more accomplished is a marvelous thing. She inspired them all."...Mark St. Germain, Obie winning playwright.

In a one hour lesson, we will spend twenty five minutes on vocal exercises designed to teach support and placement. Having performed leads on and Off Broadway, I know that without good technique you can't do eight shows a week, do back to back sets in a nightclub or cabaret or tour as a pop or rock singer. The second half of the lesson is spent on songs. As an acting as well as vocal coach, I focus on dramatics as well as musical interpretation. A singer must be connected to the words as well as the music. I hope to teach you to love singing as much as I do.

Mary Phillips is excellent! I highly recommend her. Her knowledge of technique and her ability to explain it's proper applications helped my daughter improve not only her vocal quality but her range. Mary also worked on building her self confidence and attitude. I've notice a significant improvement in her approach to auditions. She is less nervous and more confident in her skills. We had a hard time trying to find an instructor who values someone with a lower range. I wish we had found her earlier!

Mary was an absolute godsend! I started lessons with her to help prepare for college theatre auditions. I was so overwhelmed with the whole process and didn't even know where to begin picking monologues and songs. Mary helped me so much by sending different monologues that she thought would fit and we would go from there. She was always there to answer any questions I had, and I had a lot! She is patient and encouraging and our lessons were always a lot of fun but I also learned so much! I also took voice lessons from Mary and in doing so, my voice has greatly improved and so has my confidence. I just finished all of my auditions and I truly could not have done this without her. I couldn't recommend her more!

Whether it's belting or legit, let's get you singing!

About Mary
Singing is the most joyful form of expression!

My philosophy is that every voIce is uniquely beautiful, and every singer has a different path to his or her full potential, but regardless of the path, singing that is based in joyful expression is the most satisfying. I look forward to working with you to sing to your heart out!

We will begin by discussing your goals, whether it be to nail a callback, prepare yourself for college, or sing confidently in front of friends and family (or in the shower!). I believe that a good, healthy technique will allow you to soar in whatever kind of singing you like.

I'm a singer-songwriter with prior recording, performing, and theatre training and although I have trained with a number of different instructors, Mary brought something new and beneficial to the table! Prior to beginning our lesson we had a brief discussion about what I've done and what my goals are, and then proceeded to make a sort of action plan on how to address everything! Just after one 45 minute lesson, I had learned techniques that I hadn't ever used before and could already sense my improvement. She gave me great mental and physical cues that I found to be extremely helpful. She is clearly very knowledgeable about what she does and her performance experience gives her a special edge and understanding when it comes to her teaching style.

As far as logistics go, I have both driven and taken the subway to get to her house. She lives super close to the L train (maybe a 2 or 3 minute walk?) and there is usually adequate parking nearby. Her home is lovely and the backroom where the piano is has incredible acoustics. I could sing there for hours!! Her cute pup Waka is also a nice addition/perk to the overall environment :)

Overall, I'm incredibly happy and so excited to see how she helps me achieve my goals!!

I had my first voice lesson in a long time with Mary. I've had years of training in the past, and Mary was very informed and knowledgable about different styles and techniques. She was constantly checking in with me about my experiences and what challenges I face to work on exercises that were specifically suited to my voice and its needs. She also spent some extra time with me to look through my audition material and help me to focus it a bit. Her beautiful home and workspace lent itself to a relaxing and rewarding` lesson that only went by too quickly.

Mary is an incredible teacher! She did a wonderful job of asking me what it was I wanted to focus on and then tailoring the lesson to that. She also was encouraging and make me feel safe to sing (and good about the sound I was producing!) while still offering exercises and ways to improve what I was doing. She also went out of her way to find me songs when I mentioned that I needed some more rep for my book! Warm, attentive, humble, and knowledgable, she is a teacher that you definitely want to study with!

I have been studying Broadway singers for years. I have been a Musical Theatre performer for years and I am still studying singing, acting and dancing. I am still young and know what it feels to want to better yourself everyday, so I can relate to most learning students. I put a lot of importance to vocal training, technique and warm-ups.

About Jennifer
I am a Musical Theatre Performer, who is still studying at a University. I perform all the time and believe that warm-ups are a big importance when it comes to performing. Technique is something I have been studying for a while, as I am still understanding what techniques work for myself.

INCREDIBLE, HELPFUL, AND ALL AROUND AMAZING TEACHER! Not enough good things to say about Adam. He knows his craft, is extremely talented, and knows how to communicate in a way that makes it easy to understand and improve in just a few short lessons. A very patient and kind person who has helped my singing and stage presence tremendously. Highly recommended!

I highly recommend Adam as a voice teacher.
My 10 year old daughter Spencer has been wanting to take a lesson for so long she's always singing Disney songs around the house, and finally I thought, why not give it a go.
When I first met Adam his smile was infectious, and I could already tell he knew what he was doing, and this was the right choice.
He sat down at the piano we have at home, and began doing scale work, within minutes time, I could already see that Emily was already enjoying the lesson.
They worked learning "For the First Time In Forever" together, and Emily now sings both parts, and very well/on pitch might I add.
Spencer takes lessons from Adam bi weekly, and is always anxious for him to come and share his knowledge with her.
I couldn't recommend him enough!

I had never had a voice lesson before in my life, and wanted to try this out as I have always been interested in singing.
I had one lesson with Adam, and now take lessons with him multiple times a month. He has not only helped me gain confidence in my vocal ability, but continues to provide fantastic training, and I feel my voice getting stronger with each lesson. I had no idea that I had an upper register, nor did I understand what that meant prior to working with Adam.
I can proudly say I am finding my voice more and more everyday.
He has shown me that anyone can truly be a singer.
Thank you Adam for your patience and time with me!

My goal when working with students is to teach them to sing in a fun and healthy way while improving their musicianship, confidence, and love of music!

My teaching style focuses a lot on a healthy singing technique --- finding ways to sing that are sustainable, healthy, appropriate, and easy to understand. From there, I work with students on musicality and expression, basic music theory and sightreading, and exploring new repertoire and styles

About Joshua
I received my bachelor's degree in Voice from Susquehanna University, where I served as a student voice teacher and a music theory tutor. I am currently completing my master's degree in musicology at Mason Gross School of the Arts, where I also studied opera performance, taught undergraduate music surveys, privately tutored Diction, and directed opera department productions.

I have participated in a number of different musical ensembles and performances including operas, recitals, choirs, a cappella groups, musicals, and liturgical music.

Through my own vocal journey, I have worked with numerous teachers, voice professionals and medical specialists concerning vocal faults and health issues. This has fostered my pedagogical understanding of the voice and my emphasis on vocal health.

My approach with students is to find a natural, healt
hy, and unique sound that comes with good technique, care of the voice, and musical knowledge. Supplemented by regular practice, my lessons will address the individual needs of every student; just like a fingerprint, every voice is unique and presents unique challenges.

In addition to voice lessons, I teach beginning piano and music theory lessons, establishing a firm musical foundation for those who wish to supplement their voice lessons or improve their performance on another instrument.
