Let’s find some fun and joy by working on technique, performance, and letting your personality and individuality come through!

Audition coming up? Want to work on new material? Now is the perfect time to do it all while we are staying at home! :)

I am a native New Yorker (West Village!), graduate of Emerson College's BFA Musical Theatre program, and have been working in professionally and continuously in the business for 10 years. For the past year and a half I was performing in "Fiddler on the Roof (Yiddish)" directed by Tony and Oscar winner, Joel Grey.
I love connecting with students and passing along some of the passion and knowledge I have acquired from working in this industry. I am straight-forward, compassionate, and I have a good sense of humor when coaching. I want my students to feel EXCITED and CONFIDENT about the material they are doing and their approach to the work.
Most importantly, I strive to provide a supportive and encouraging environment for all!

About Abby

I am a professional actress/singer and native New Yorker. I am outgoing, not very subtle, and absolutely love comedy. Most recently, I performed for a year and a half in the New York Times Critic's Choice and Drama Desk Winner, "Fiddler on the Roof," (Yiddish) directed by Tony and Oscar winner Joel

Abby is freaking amazing and you should 100% take lessons from her. She’s funny and talented and so knowledgeable about singing! I took lessons because I love musicals and wanted to learn how to manage breathing, etc. I have definitely improved and feel so cool & happy :) for real though, she doesn’t judge you at all and she totally gets everything you may be feeling. With her I was able to get my voice warm and feel comfortable enough to let it out! And she tailors her lessons to YOU. We sang what I was interested in. I am a teacher in real life so I know what good teaching is, and Abby is IT. Having lessons with her during quarantine has been a godsend, too! Take lessons with her & support artists— you won’t regret it!!

Abby is amazing! I've been singing for over 30 years and have always wanted a voice coach. I looked through many profiles in my search. When I can across Abby's profile, I instantly wanted her to train me. I've always loved Broadway, and I wanted an empowering coach like her. Abby is a star, and she will make you feel like one too. I needed help with technique, daily habits, and confidence. Abby is very patient and really listens to her students. She always encourages me and gives feedback in a positive way. She finds songs within my voice range that challenge me, and also works with songs I choose. I look forward to classes every week. In the short time I've been working with Abby, my voice and confidence have improved. Abby also taught me great daily exercises and breathing techniques. I highly recommend Abby for anyone seeking a positive and skilled voice/musical theater coach.

Fay is such an amazing teacher! I got into Fiorello H. LaGuardia High School thanks to her. Best Teacher I've had, she helps train your voice and goes through the vocal anatomy so you understand techniques such as proper breathing, posture, coordination, grounding, acting, diction...etc. I've been her student for about a year three years now and I have to say that my voice has improved so much as a performer all thanks to her! If you get the chance, at least take a class, you will not regret it!

I’m a male voice specialist as I only teach the male voice. With over 8 years of experience, I have a deep understanding on the many strengths and the the common pitfalls of the male voice. From child to adult, opera to pop, I believe that a strong classical foundation is the key to total vocal freedom and health. Teaching concepts from the Italian and Swedish Italian singing schools, I work with singers to maximize the range in a healthy powerful way while treating each unique voice to what it needs most. Lessons are meant to be a fun learning experience and singing, a joyful way of life. Experience the difference.

I have suffered from vocal problems since I was very young. I was always hoarse and experienced frequent vocal pain. I have been to three reputable voice coaches/specialists which turned out to be a waste of time and money.
When Chaim Fisgus first heard my voice he was confident he could help me, and from the beginning I saw he was different than the others. He has a passion for voice, a professional ear, and a unique talent of teaching. He doesn't just "do" exercises, but takes the time to learn the students voice and create a more personal approach. He himself is a student of some prominent voice trainers, including David Jones.
Even after I gave up on my voice Chaim did not, and I have come a long way. For the first time in my life, I started receiving compliments on my singing. Thank you Chaim!

Chaim Fisgus is a gifted voice teacher that coaches our son Dovi. Not only is he an amazing singer, but also a kind and intuitive teacher, that brings out the best of his students’ potential.
Dovi has made amazing progress since we started, his ability to sing on pitch, keep the rhythm, and perform, has improved immensely.
Dovi looks forward to his lessons as they are also such fun, we can’t recommend him enough!!

Mary is a lively, voluble person with enormous experience particularly in musical theater who enjoys working with students.
Initially and as the student moves along, Mary assesses talent and abilities and then continues to periodically reassess the learning in a manner that never ceases to amaze me. I have been working with Mary for six months and found her evaluations of my strengths and what I need to work on to be spot on every time.
What I esteem most is Mary's technical acumen, the techniques she learned from her teachers and mentors and her experience as a performer. Her keen ear and eye immediately pick out every nuance being sung that needs work. She answers questions about where "to go" in throat, mouth, tongue, torso, etc., demonstrating how to correctly produce the sounds, tones, and supported breathing in question. Voice teachers, of course, are supposed to do this. Mary does this superbly.
If you are seeking a teacher who knows her technique, especially in musical theater, I highly recommend Mary.
Jason
Hi Mary,
In my opinion, our session last night wasn't productive. My opinion is, you weren't really interested in teaching me. Out of the 60 minute session. I only did about 3 to 5 minutes of exercises. You spent 55 minutes talking about your past and present students, professional actors you know, show business, acting techniques and your accomplishments. You did talk about about the script that i would read and the emotion behind it, but that lead into more about your students and professional actors you know. it took you 30 minutes in your office to find that script, (which should have been done a head of time) then we went downstairs and another 25 minutes of talking before i could read it to you.

Towards the end when i finally spoke up about so much time being passed and nothing being done. You said you needed to see my personality so you can know where to start with me. That made no sense to me, how are you seeing my personality if you are the one mostly talking about your accomplishments and who you know and what you've done?
Why not pick a point and start there and see what my weak and strong points are? You also asked me the same questions you asked me on the phone, have you ever taken lessons before, why do you want to act, what do you do for work which to me just consumed more time.

What i found surprising and discouraging was when you asked me why would I take acting classes up here when there are some of the best acting schools in the world just an hour away in New York City? I wish you had said that to me over the phone before our meeting, I would reconsider taking lessons from you and just spend the extra money and go down to the city. If i were an instructor i would be grateful for anyone who sacrificed their time and money to come see me, and never ask why they chose me when there is better not that far away. With that said I have decided to cancel my remaining lessons with you please do not bill me any further.

Jason

PS Telling a person of color that they are a weird fit as a real estate agent in Croton N.Y, and would be a better fit in Brooklyn N.Y was discriminatory and offensive to me.
Griffin Scott
I found Mary on my search for an acting coach pertaining mostly to my upcoming drama school auditions. Her vast knowledge of this business is evident as well as her ability to help ground and craft your work. Each and every lesson was applicable towards my artistic pursuit. I consistently recommend her as a leading instructor in this field!

"I am a musical theatre singer from New York, an AMDA alumni, working in different projects and productions through long periods and using my voice on high intensity.
I came to Omer with bad breath support habits that caused me a lot of vocal problems as tiredness and strained voice, leaving me behind in my career and making my job frustrating.

Omer helped me slowly but efficiently to build my technique from the very beginning, stressing how important it is to have a good basis before aiming higher.

The process was so amazing, as he was understanding, patient and knowledgeable teacher, always made me feel comfortable, but at the same time was clear and strict on the correct techniques and on his training.

Omer is one of the nicest people I’ve gotten to know, and is very approachable as a teacher and as a person.
I am grateful for the process I’ve been through with him, and definitely improved my singing and my confidence on stage and off.

A five stars teacher, you don’t want to miss!(:"

"Miss Drake taught a 3 hour Master Class for my 12 students. She was excellent in helping each student with their vocal technique and acting in the songs. She was able to creatively engage each student and pinpoint specific ways to help them improve their singing. It was amazing to watch students respond to her suggestions and see the improvement in their performances. Her expertise, performing background and energy made the class a fun learning experience!
