Upright Bass is my main instrument. It's what I love and I want to share that love with anyone who wants to play the bass. The lessons are your time as a student. I am here for you and I am here to guide you on the path to success. What I think is really important is always being goal oriented. We will take what you want to do with the bass and plan how we will get there using technique exercises, solo pieces, and fun stuff you choose to learn.

About Michael

I am a professional freelance upright bassist in the Philadelphia Metro Area. I came to the Classical Bass when I was 17 and fell in love with it! In my experience, I have learned that there are two very important things: Musicality and Flexibility. The music always comes first! It's what I do

My name is Joseph and I’ve been teaching professionally for 30 + years. Additionally, I’ve toured internationally with many artists and have several solo CDs as a leader. I currently play bass with Cirque Du Soleil in Las Vegas Nevada USA and I know what is required to be a professional musician. I have a customized teaching method for beginners through advanced players, however, I will also adopt things that you want to learn as well. I treat every student and lessons on an individual basis and I don’t have a cookie-cutter method of teaching. Lessons we will cover will be proper technique, solid foundation, rhythmic and groove training, learning notes/scales, learning songs, music theory, reading music, composition, ear training, recording techniques and much more. All ages and playing levels welcome! I look forward to working with you.

Upright Bass lessons with me are unique because I cater to my student's abilities as long as they are committed and put forth their full effort towards their lessons. I am a strong believer in learning the fundamentals, and make them as fun as possible. This includes learning basic music theory through scales, arpeggios, melodies, bass line construction, and playing with proper technique. I have over 25 years of experience playing this instrument, which includes obtaining a degree in jazz performance from Berklee College of Music in 2002. I enjoy teaching beginner and intermediate students classical bass, and can introduce them to jazz if they are interested.

About Preston

I am a professional upright bassist, who has decades of experience teaching classical, and additional experience playing jazz. I graduated with a degree in jazz performance from Berklee College of Music and am enthusiastic to share my skills on this instrument.

"Benjamin is great. He has the task of teaching a 46 year old longtime electric bass player and a 12 year old electric bass player (father/daughter). He is teaching us both the fundamentals of the upright bass, which is such a different instrument. We look forward to continued lessons with Benjamin."
