First, I will teach you all of the vital foundational material that you’ve missed, so that the Guitar neck becomes a whole, rather than a jumble. I will also diagnose any technique problems that you’re having, and prescribe solutions for overcoming them quickly.
Next (all along the way, really) we will apply your newfound knowledge and technique prowess to playing music that you enjoy. Whether it’s Heavy Metal, Blues, Rock, Jazz, Classical - or any other style - you’ll be able to understand how the players you love are able to put this stuff together. And, you’ll be able to come up with your own riffs, solos, and songs, too.
You will learn how to:
- Play faster, more cleanly, more powerfully, and more confidently
- Understand rhythm reading and notation, so that you can learn songs quickly and easily
- Build and play chords all over the neck, and know how they relate to songs and soloing
- Use scales, modes, and arpeggios to improvise, jam, and write your own riffs & songs

I teach the basics of learning acoustic guitar technique including: Selecting an appropriate guitar for the student, correct holding of the guitar, finger and hand placement, guitar notes and scales, guitar tablature, reading and playing guitar chords, strumming and picking, playing guitar songs from most genres and music theory. I also teach electric bass guitar and ukulele, beginner through intermediate. I teach guitar in most genres of music (except hip-hop and rap). I have been playing acoustic guitar since I was 10 years old, and have a great deal of experience in playing most genres and techniques, I am used to accompanying groups of people in different settings on the guitar. I learned to play ukulele as one of my first instruments. I learned to play electric bass guitar in stage band and in a rock group in high school. Learn Electric Guitar for Beginners with Online Lessons
The guitar is one of the most widely known and loved instruments in music today. The guitar as we know it is descended from multiple European instruments including the lute, the vihuela, and the guitarra latina, all examples of Renaissance-era stringed instruments that fulfilled a similar role in the music making of the day.
Though these instruments tended to be smaller in size with rounder and more pronounced bodies, the modern guitar is longer, thinner, and larger overall in order to produce a much more impressive and far-reaching sound than any early generation of the instrument was able to make. What we know as the acoustic guitar came to the forefront of modern music in the late 19th century, primarily in Spain, and became one of the primary instruments used in popular music in America throughout the 20th century.
Though the acoustic guitar is an extremely useful instrument with a rich history, the face of guitar music changed forever when the electric guitar was invented in the mid 20th century. With the rise of blues, funk, and rock ‘n’ roll, the electric guitar took the world by storm and added a brand-new sound to the modern music of the day. Since its creation, electric guitar has remained one of the primary instruments used in a variety of well-known genres including rock, funk, RnB, pop, and much more.

How to Choose a Guitar Teacher Online
Before starting the search for your online guitar teacher with TakeLessons, it’s important to work out the details. In order to keep your online search as quick and concise as possible, you should ask yourself a few key questions. How much am I willing to spend for weekly guitar lessons? Would I like to start with 30-minute, 45-minute, or 1-hour lessons? What is my ideal day and time for my lessons each week?
These questions will yield some of the most important basic information regarding your online search for the perfect electric guitar teacher. For some of the factors, such as your weekly budget, it’s okay if you want to look around at what different guitar teachers charge for different lengths of lessons and determine what you think is fair from there. However, once you have decided what you’re willing to pay for your lessons, you can narrow down your search using our customizable search feature.
There are several other details that you can include in your customizable search of our available guitar instructors. For example, if you want to take your lessons in Spanish instead of English, you can find a teacher that offers that option. Additionally, if you prefer a teacher with over 10 years of experience under their belt instead of a newer teacher, you can specify that in your search as well. We make your experience on TakeLessons as individualized as possible so that you can be matched with the best electric guitar teacher to suit your preferences.
Find an Electric Guitar Teacher that You Can Connect With
When it comes to music lessons, you’re more likely to achieve success on your instrument if you like your teacher. Dealing with teachers that format their lessons in an undesirable way or teachers with personalities that simply don’t mix well with yours can make the experience of music much more difficult to enjoy. In fact, if you don’t have fun during your lessons, you’re far more likely to quit playing your instrument altogether.
This is why it’s so important to take the time to thoroughly research your potential online guitar teacher on TakeLessons. Since we have hundreds of teachers available on our site, you may be tempted to just pick one at random and book a lesson. However, we recommend making sure that your potential teacher has a teaching style and personality that you think could be helpful for your practice and skill building.
One of the best ways to get to know the teachers on TakeLessons is to read their reviews. Reviews are left for the teachers on our site by all kinds of former and current students of theirs, whether the student has only taken one lesson so far or if they’ve been studying with this teacher for years already. While reading these posts, you can get a better feel for your potential teacher’s energy level, their teaching style, their typical lesson format, and even their sense of humor.
If you want to improve your electric guitar skills fast, you shouldn’t waste time with a teacher that you don’t absolutely love. If you have further questions for any of our teachers, you can reach out to them directly on our site.
