Ms. Tina was born and raised in North Plainfield, NJ and attended college at Westminster Choir College in Princeton, NJ and Montclair State University in Montclair, NJ where she received a BM in Musical Theater. Music is not just a job for Ms. Tina...it's a passion.
I continually strive to encourage and motivate my students to explore their individual talents and abilities to their fullest and to have fun! I look forward to working with you
and your family to achieve your music education goals!
I have an enormous respect and love for classical music. I am proud to come from a long line of classical teachers reaching back to Beethoven and Haydn. This musical genealogy informs my teaching. Students choosing to receive a classical piano education will be taught pieces composed by Bach, Beethoven, Brahms, Chopin, Debussy, Haydn, Satie and many other composers of classical music.

She has resided in Tampa, Florida since 1991 where she has performed in a variety of venues including "One Enchanted Evening" VIP reception and a benefit for Berkeley Preparatory School. Lisa served as an accompanist for Encore Theatre in 1999 working with Greta Aldene and has accompanied instrumentalists at district contest festivals. She has also had the privilege of serving as an adjudicator for the Bayridge District Festival for several years. An active member of Music Teachers National Association since 19
98, Lisa is a pianist and composer who also maintains a studio. She has been hired to play the piano for many occasions including weddings, private parties and company parties since 1983. *** Lesson Details *** I instruct children as well as adults ranging from beginning to advanced levels in the art of playing the piano. I teach various styles of music including standard classical repertoire and popular pieces. Through a creative, fun and individualized approach to teaching, my students also learn ear training, sight reading, music theory, piano technique and music history as it pertains to the pieces they are currently learning. After one month, beginning students can expect to have learned how to play one piece of music of their choosing and one piece of music chosen by me. After a few months of studying with me, they can expect to have gained basic music reading skills.
*** Studio Equipment *** Steinway Baby Grand Piano, 76 key Casio keyboard, Dell All In One 20" desktop, music software and music theory games
*** Specialties *** I specialize in teaching classical and popular repertoire. I have taught other styles as well as improvisation. I utilize a student centered approach structuring lessons to suit each student's individual goals.
Lisa was fun and I really appreciated that she was down to earth and attempted to make me feel comfortable. She gives great compliments that encourage you to keep trying.

My son has been taking piano lessons with Lisa for more than 6 months. Lisa is a great teacher. She is very patient and knowledgeable. She's able to correct my son's problems. I've seen tremendous growth and improvement on him since he's been studying piano with Lisa. Lisa is also very willing to work with us on scheduling issues as well. I would definitely recommend her.
I will develop and strengthen rhythm, music pitch, melodic and harmonic sight reading, articulation, and proper piano technique.
I am a Certified Beginning Piano teacher as well as an intermediate level teacher. I studied piano at Cerritos College of Norwalk, CA where I completed my teaching piano certificate. I completed my Bachelor of Arts degree in Music with a focus in percussion from CSU Long Beach. I have consistently taught piano, music and drums since 2002.
I have traveled the world to perform music. I have been to Brazil to study samba and its many different styles with the World Percussion Program of CSU Long Beach in 2006 and 2007. In 2012, I traveled to Colombia and Venezuela to perform with the band of Terratour, a humanitarian group. While touring, we collaborated with local musicians in different cities.
You may have noticed from my photos and videos that I'm a Carpenters fan. I sing, play piano and drums. The Carpenters are my musical
inspirations and that's exactly how I perform- with tender, love, and care. My friends and I learned many of the Carpenters tunes and collaborated with vocals, piano, steel drums, drums and other percussion joining together to form our band Close To You.
My teaching is focused on reading the notes (pitch), proper technique and rhythm. All are a part of the music-making process and should be equally strong. I start with young beginners when they can count, add, subtract and know the alphabet. The student must have the proper instrument and additional equipment, when necessary. The student is required to practice on a regular basis (daily is ideal). The student is also responsible for books, flashcards, and a metronome. If you need me to provide that, please let me know.
I am currently available for online or in-studio lessons. Please notify me if there is a day and time not available. When signing up a child for the first time, it is best to make a one year commitment so the child can really learn to work alone and develop self-discipline. Parental guidance and support is necessary for success. For adults, commitment to practicing is key.
Please notify me of the special need prior to booking lessons so I can accommodate.
You have all the ability and power to learn and be great- I'm just going to guide you all the way to your goal!
Michelle is a great teacher. She is patient, kind, and enthusiastic about music. My child loves going to class and hates missing a class (only when she's sick). She makes learning music fun but it also firm if the child doesn't meet the expectation. It's been a year since we started lessons and we couldn't be more happier.

Michelle has been very good at keeping my 8 year old engaged and interested in learning to read music. We are looking forward to many more lessons.
Classical piano is mostly based on music composed in previous periods. However, it can include exercises that ate modern as well as some modern music such as Florida Reflections.
I am experienced (3 years) in home school tutoring. I mostly work with Florida Virtual School students. I overlook their tests and assignments, and help them with preparations for Discussion Based Assessmemts (DBA). I also help parents with required annual evaluations and how to sign up with home education department. For my tutoring sessions I use skills that include goal-directedness, I teach how to organize learning in small steps and how to set them up; I always strive to motivate and engage my students to make them interested in learning and have fun; I also use self-control skills to teach how to avoid distractions and I show how to use different focusing strategies. I use positive mind set skills to teach how to use failures as learning opportunities.
I have Masters in Education (2018) with specialization in English, Curricul
um and Education; and Masters in Arts (2012) in Teaching English to speakers of other languages, and Bachelors in Music Education (2010), both from Florida Atlantic University, as well as a degree in violin performance from Chicago. I studied piano in Chicago for 10 years & taught both piano & violin for over 20 years. I also teach flute & cello for the past 5 years, as I studied them during my Music Education program. I have taught music for over 24 years using the traditional and Suzuki methods. I am fan of the Essential Elements method and I Can Read Music book for string instruments, and the Alfred's Piano Library for piano. Alfred's piano library can be used for any age as they also have books especially made for adult learners. I also like their music flash cards. For teaching music theory I mostly used Fundamentals of Piano Theory (9 levels) combined with Master Theory (6 levels) books.
I personalize every lesson, and always set goals for my students. Most of my violin students are members of the Florida Youth Orchestra as well as the Gold Coast Youth Orchestra and my piano students participate in Pompano Beach Piano competition and the annual Piano Guild auditions. I teach any age and any level, and always stress that learning a new instrument is very similar to learning a new language, it needs a lot of patience, persistence and repetitions. My lessons are customized to my students needs, and are work in progress as they needs may change over time. I always remind my students that music can give them instant gratification when they learn to play favorite songs. I always encourage my students to tell me about their music preferences, so I can incorporate them in their music lessons.
*** Lesson Details *** All my tutoring sessions include reviews of previously learned material and if possible the use of technology. I use students books but often bring extra study materials if necessary. All my lessons include technique and reading music. I like to use the Finger Power for piano students and Essential Elements for my string students, and scales for both. Music theory: I use Master Theory and Fundamentals of Piano Theory books for younger ages, Alfred's music flash cards to support learning notes and musical terminology, and of course the fun part performance.
Besides Essential Elements for strings I also use String Tunes and I Can Read Music to add more fun to the lessons as well as support reading music during the lesson. For piano students I use Holiday Treats book, which comes in 2 different levels: Beginner & Intermediate, so my students have a new songs for a specific holiday.
*** Studio Equipment *** I always bring violin with me to be able to show what I teach.
*** Travel Equipment *** The students need to have their books and assigned material ready for tutoring. Instrumental students needs to have their music books, flashcards & instrument available as well as a pencil. I always stress with my students to be organized and prepared for their lesson, this way they will be able to focus better during the lesson. I always bring my violin with me. I also ask that the room where the lesson takes place be free of any distractions, such other siblings or any other noise. The quiet environment helps in faster learning.
*** Specialties *** I tutor most K-12 subjects and prepare students to take ACT, SAT, GRE tests. Music genres: Classical, traditional, Suzuki, Popular, Celtic, fiddle, Blues
I'm sorry, I cannot handle this Instructor for my children. She wasn't me but she's not quite the people person I expected. Her personality is not a good match for a high school tutor. Unfortunately her English is not good enough. Her accent is entirely too strong. Also she does not know enough Geometry to help my kids.

She’s helping me prepare for an audition and giving me valuable tips to sound as good as possible in a short time.

Practicing with Vandi improves my skills more quickly than practicing alone and she is very good at not only answering questions via the internet tutoring but through phone as well. She is very prompt and consistent and provides easy to read materials for my skill level. I'm very happy with my purchase through Take Lessons so far. This is my first time using this website and it is my third lesson as I am new to piano. I have already recommended this site to other people.
Always wanted to play the classics? I have 12 years of training and nearly a decade of experience teaching. I teach how to read music, count rhythm, and all manner of theory necessary to excel at classical piano

She is incredibly passionate and patient with my 6 year old daughter. Wonderful communication skills. Very flexible and understanding with planning. The type of teacher that children really respond to.
I’ve studied piano from when I was 5 years old all through college. In majored in music composition and piano performance. Most of all though I am currently a music composer and perform the piano every day. I want to teach students the basics but also make it fun to learn. Learning scales and form is important but so is truely loving the piano and whatnot can give to you.
Playing popular songs for your family is fun, and so is accomplishing a harder song that you’ve practiced for months on. Each person is different and wants to achieve something new every time
Hey there! I am a professional musician based out of Los Angeles, CA. I grew up in Santa Barbara, CA, and graduated from Amherst College with a major in music composition and Chinese language.
I’ve lived in Los Angeles for almost 9 years now producing, composing, and performing music for TV, film, and artist projects. I’ve also been teaching part time both for piano and electronic production (pro tools, DJing, electronic music composition).
I’ve been playing piano my entire life and just the freedom of being able to sit down and play whatever comes into my head is a skill I appreciate having learned every day of my life. I think anyone can learn the piano if they are excited by it. It doesn’t take long to appreciate what an important life long skill music becomes even after just a few weeks of training

"Ivan is a great teacher who knows how to interact and teach kids in a way which makes them excited to play piano. Before Ivan was my teacher I didn’t real
ly have an interest in piano but as he came along he helped me develop a urge to be better in piano. Ivan also has patience with kids and helps them learn how to get the right notes and memorize the songs effectively. Ivan didn’t just teach me how to memorize songs he taught me how to read the notes and be able to play the piano without memorizing notes on a sheet of paper. He is a great mentor and a better person"
