Trumpet Lessons in Imperial. Amazing Teachers.

I have twenty years in musicianship as a trumpet player myself and five years of experience in teaching music. Each lesson is designed to cater to the needs of the student and provide them with the skills to advance as a successful musician. Each lesson is customized and the students will learn subjects such as sight reading, ear training, musical theory and more.

I teach you how to read, play, and transpose the music. I also work on techniques necessary for good tone and breathe control. We also work on Theory so you understand what is in the music that you are reading.

I'm a music-loving stay-at-home dad who enjoys sharing his hobbies of guitar and trumpet with the world! I have been teaching students of all ages, from elementary-age to older adults, for over 4 years now and I particularly enjoy introducing beginners to the joys of a new instrument. Whether you are just picking up your instrument for the first time, or dusting it off after years of sitting in the closet, I'm honored you would consider me to help you along your journey.

While I have studied music and music education at the university level, I have also learned a great deal through real-world experience and playing alongside other musicians and gleaning whatever I can from them. I have played both trumpet and guitar my whole life and consider myself to be a life-long learner of both instruments. I am a professional trumpet player and an experienced brass teacher. I moved to the UK in 2014 and have been working with orchestras such as the Royal Philharmonic, BBC National Orchestra of Wales, and have also performed as a soloist with the New Mozart Ensemble and the Verbier Chamber Orchestra in Switzerland. I graduated from the Juilliard School in New York in 2012 and spent one year with a contract with the Brazilian Symphony Orchestra as assistant principal trumpet. I have also been a member of the Verbier Festival and Chamber Orchestras since 2012, touring with them all over Europe and Asia. As a teacher, my experiences have been diverse. I was the trumpet coach of the pre-college program at the Juilliard School during my time as a postgraduate student and have taught at workshops in Rio de Janeiro. I am currently the brass teacher at St George’s Ascot, a brass tutor for both Lambeth and Sutton music services, a brass coach for the Chineke Orchestra, and the sabbatical cover ...

Learning to play the trumpet is a rewarding experience. Many people think you need to be big and tough to play the trumpet. But it's quite the opposite - it is an instrument requiring precision coordination between the embochure (lips) and the fingers. It's more akin to precision surgury than an athletic competition.

I will help the student develop a good foundation to play the trumpet well. Everyone wants to play loud and high but developing a good sound is crucial before attempting advanced techniques. I will help the student make sure they are developing and progressing in the right direction.

Welcome to my profile! Throughout the eight years I have spent as a trumpet player, I have developed a firm understanding of musical techniques that range from classical to jazz styles. I would love to deepen my passion for music by sharing my knowledge with you! Our lessons would consist of learning the fundamentals of trumpet playing, sight reading practice, an introduction to music theory. Beginners of all ages welcomed.
