I believe learning to play the piano should be fun! I do focus on theory and technique which are important. I strive to cater to my individual students and have them play songs that they enjoy.

As a classically trained pianist, I am familiar with a wide array of repertoire and composers. If you are looking to explore classical music, I can help to develop the technique and stylistic awareness to best perform it.

I've been teaching Piano for 5+ years in both public schools and my private studio. I train my students to have fundamental music skills that break the barrier of being just a piano player; I train musicians!

To play solo or work in a band, to prep for an audition or develop skills as an improvisor, I am confident in my ability to help people foster a healthy relationship with Music.

I started as a classical pianist and switched my focus to jazz when I went to study at university.

I teach the basic piano repertoire however I also like to keep it interesting for the students. I teach scales, patterns, ect...but I also ask what their favorite songs are. I think its important to learn what you love as well as the required pieces. I also try games with kids and make it fun that way as well. I teach classical and popular songs only no jazz on piano.

Learning music should be fun and engaging! My style of teaching helps my students learn the songs they want to learn once they have understood a certain level of music theory. Students are motivated to learn through instruction that they can understand, so I work with both children and adults to find their preferred learning style. So when students enjoy learning, practicing comes naturally and the music becomes a fulfilling experience for both the teacher and the student!

As an experienced piano teacher of many years and a masters of musicology student at the University of Arizona, I seek to bring people of all ages and skill levels to a deeper understanding of and appreciation for music.
