I play bass guitar as a member of "The Morris Oakley Band", a 5 piece classic rock cover band. My knowledge of music theory translates perfectly to the bass.

About Joe

Hello! I've been singing since before I can remember and playing instruments for almost as long. I have a passion for music. Whether it's being onstage at York Little Theatre, directing the church choir in Red Lion, or paying with one of several local and regional bands, I love music and performing

This is the first lesson I got to listen to of my son working with Nathan. Usually I'm not home from work. I am really impressed with how much he was able to help my son improve so quickly. I wish we had started this much sooner.

Bass guitar was one of those things I had a passion about for many years before I took it up. When I finally did, I explored the techniques of many of the great players like Victor Wooten and Jaco Pastorius. I have performed in several bands as the bassist, but I've most enjoyed studying it as a solo instrument while writing my own pieces and learning songs of great artists like Larry Graham and John Mayer.

I typically play a 6 string bass but I'm happy to teach any type of bass from a 4 to 11 string instrument. I love teaching improvisation and special right hand techniques, so whatever path you want to go down I bet I can help you.

About Jonathan

I studied music therapy and music theory at Temple University from '06-'10. Learned a lot. Then again, I learned even more teaching at a school for kids with learning disabilities and working as a traveling street performer. Once you see the world and work with some unexpected challenges, you learn

Along with playing guitar and studying music theory, those skills have been applied to learning various stringed instruments including the bass guitar. I have had the privilege of nearly 20 years of playing music and have been able to apply my skills and knowledge into learning bass and effectively teach my students. I teach a variety of skills and styles including but not limited to: rock, jazz, blues, country, pop, alternative, pick style, finger style, and others. My goal as an instructor is to keep the lessons fresh, fun, interesting, and to ultimately guide the students to better teach themselves as they gain experience and familiarity with the instrument and music. Students can have their lessons catered to the music and styles they wish to pursue. Lessons are tailored to each individual student so that we can build upon their strengths and focus on lessons to improve weaker areas. Students will learn how to build dexterity, use proper technique, and be creative. Every student ...

Robert has been assisting me with my bass guitar and acoustic guitar education. He has expertly weaved music theory into my lessons and has given me a huge boost to my musical confidence. I used to think some things would be too difficult and perhaps insurmountable but with his encouragement I feel a lot more confident. I have been helped because his lessons have been tailored to my needs and weaknesses. Robert is a very friendly music teacher who would be able to assist anyone of any age. "I started taking lessons from Dustin Newbold my Sophomore year of high school. I took his guitar class and learned the basics then moved on to bass guitar. He went at a pace that was not only easy to learn and memorize, but also seemed more exciting than what I would have thought learning an instrument would be. After the first year of guitar lessons, Mr. Newbold recommended that I move up from guitar class to actually being in the school band. The fact that he took me from knowing nothing about music, to me to joining the school band was an amazing feeling. This opened many doors for me, including a full ride scholarship to college for band and choir. I would highly recommended Mr. Newbold as a Music Instructor."
