Senobia was knowledgeable and I appreciated her patience with my daughter as this was her first EVER vocal lesson. While my daughter was nervous, Senobia’s professional demeanor allowed my daughter to feel confident. She can’t wait for lesson 2.

I believe everyone has the ability to sing … some better than others, of course, -- but regardless, I believe every voice can make a beautiful sound. I believe learning to sing requires team work: with the proper instruction and learning tools from me, the instructor, and with the dedication (practice, practice, practice) from you, the student, a well-rounded singer can emerge.

I began singing when I was five years old in church. I continued singing exclusively inspirational music until I was a teenager. At that time, in addition to the second soprano part I sang in a five-part harmony
a Capella (without instrumental accompaniment) Gospel group, I also sang in a couple of bands (Rhythm and Blues, and Jazz). My undergraduate studies were completed at the American University, where I majored in Communications (B.A.), and minored in Music, voice being my instrument. During my undergraduate studies, I was recruited and performed as the lead female vocalist for a Rock band that ...

Ms. Valyncia was an amazing coach. She was very patient , very honest and very professional. She pushed me beyond my comfort zone and I was able to improve my breathing, improve my range and put some personality into my performance. That was a long time ago but I plan on booking her again as my coach. I highly recommend her ! You will definitely become a better singer / performer when working with her , as long as you put the work in.

As a voice instructor with over 20 years experience in the private studio, college environment, church ministry, high school chorus master teacher, and as a free-lance performer, I understand that each student requires tools and techniques unique to their needs to grow and improve. Focusing on the basics of breath control, efficient support, and healthy vocal production, my gift of hearing and assessing each student's strengths and weaknesses allows me to create lessons catered to each singer's specific needs.

With a Master of Music in vocal performance from Peabody Conservatory of the Johns Hopkins University, an appreciation of various styles of music, and my personal investment in each individual singer, I am able to successfully share my knowledge of the vocal instrument and my love of music with my students. I am proud of my student success rate with many singers pursuing degrees in music at the collegiate level, winning competitions, earning roles in local and community ...

Shauna is great, and I am grateful to have found her. My goal is to find my authentic voice, and her methods and expertise are perfectly suited to this purpose. She helps me understand how sound is made and moves through my body, where it is blocked and how to use it to truly express myself. I have greater awareness of my body, and of how sound connects me to my deepest self. I love my lessons and leave refreshed and energized!

Literally, I couldn’t ask for a better Broadway singing and acting coach! Honestly, she's been so patient with me since I am pretty new to this industry. She has been nothing but supportive and I really can’t thank her enough for that. With Shauna by my side, I feel like I'm getting closer to my dream! Her classes are always fun as she has a great sense of humor plus all the knowledge and on top of that, experience in the industry insight. In the tough times of coronavirus, Shauna suggested Facetime lessons that are actually very convenient and beneficial. Think about it, staying home, not spending time on commute and keeping yourself and others healthy. Thank you, Shauna. Really grateful for meeting you! Best regards, Karina

"Annie is DONE and went well! We were all so impressed by Eliza’s confidence and grace under pressure (she handled a couple prop mishaps without missing a cue!) and can’t thank you enough for working with her on the Annie songs. She had a mic on so it was a good thing she was already really comfortable with the songs as they didn’t get to practice with the mic until the dress rehearsal right before the show. Only 3 (her, Annie and Tessie) of the 10 orphans on stage were mic-ed, so we could really hear her. The time and money we spent with you was sooooo worth it. Thanks for being such an amazing singing teacher!"

"I could not be happier with my decision to take voice lessons with Ben! These past couple of months have been more beneficial to me than any of my previous experience with other teachers. I have already seen improvement in my voice and there is still so much I can learn. Ben works to improve the voice as a whole, rather than limiting it to one specific area. I would highly recommend him to those who are ready to put in the work necessary to get great results."

"I have been taking piano lessons and singing lessons from Amber for about a year. I have had big music dreams for most of my life, but have just recently found the courage to give it a try. I was an absolute beginner in singing and had a few months experience with the piano. In both aspects, Amber has completely changed my life. I am more confident in my skills, I enjoy practicing, and I am starting to see a HUGE difference in my vocals and piano from when I started.

Amber asks you to put in work in order to achieve your musical goals. Follow her advice, and I promise you will not be disappointed. Before you know it, you will have gained skills in sight-reading, in breath support, in playing through distraction, in singing and playing with correct form, and in building confidence in yourself and your abilities. I love Amber, and I would choose her again and again if I could."

"24 yo Baritone | I've taken singing lessons with Steve for about 10 months. Before starting, I had moderate singing experience from competitive high school choirs but had regressed by picking up a few bad habits in the 6-ish years since.

I came in with few specific goals aside from becoming a better all-around singer.

Steve initially helped me improve my technique and cultivate a fuller sound using a variety of physicalization exercises. Since, we have progressed through songs he selected that each challenged certain parts of my voice while also highlighting my strengths. We'd keep coming back to songs I struggled with until I developed the desired skill. In that way, each song kind of brought its own lesson.

10 months later, I have a collection of songs I can perform confidently. In this time, we've also spent time on music theory and focusing on new skills I grew interested in improving (like singing with quiet intensity).

Finally, it's also important to note that Steve has always been patient, kind, and supportive. I was nervous before starting singing lessons again, but his gentle though direct feedback put me at ease quickly."
