Hello! I've been performing for 21 years and teaching for 15 years. Teaching has always been a passion for me! Whether you're an adult trying the violin or viola for the first time, or a dedicated student aiming to major in music, I can adapt my approach to suit your needs. I will help you build confidence in your playing through presenting attainable goals each week, while also providing appropriate challenges. I aim to help you feel comfortable and natural as you play by prioritizing proper posture and technique.

I have a Master's degree from the Peabody Conservatory in Violin Performance with an emphasis in pedagogy. I have performed in the U.S.A. and Europe, with well-known artists such as Andrea Bocelli, Yo-Yo Ma, Itzahk Perlman, and the Trans-Siberian Orchestra. My hope is that the violin or viola becomes a constant source of inspiration and ...

Mrs. Hollis is a very kind and patient instructor. She is great at teaching technique and important skills that have to be learned in order to play the violin at your best. My son Ben absolutely loves taking lessons with her and he has learned so much. She is so professional, talented and has so much experience! She is a perfect instructor for anyone who would like to learn to Play the violin!

Mrs. Hammonds is such a wonderful teacher! I came to her when I just started high school and was overwhelmed with joy when I found such a great teacher. Focusing on memorization, technique, and working on a solid foundation even after playing for 10 years prior, really reflected in my playing. I think she was the teacher who really showed me why I wanted to play violin and set my foundation up to improve more and more even today!
Kim
As an adult student that let my violin sit idle for too many years, Hollis was able to help me regain some basics skills and build upon them to re-learn different playing styles. Her approach was refreshing and focused on helping me re-learn some classical pieces that were familiar to my background. In addition, she introduced some jazz and fiddle pieces that I was interested in branching out with and worked with me to fine tune bowing techniques for each style.
I would highly recommend Hollis as an instructor for anyone starting out or looking to improve upon existing skills!

"I have taken three lessons with Megan so far. Megan is highly professional but friendly. She has exceptionally good ears, even when the lessons are conducted online. I just picked up viola a couple of years ago. As an adult viola learner, I appreciate Megan's style. She knows that we (adult learners) will improve with practice. She combines the basics (scales), techniques, and tone in each lesson. It seems that she sees my strengths and areas of improvements and adjusts her teaching style to match my skills. I highly recommend Megan to viola adult and child learners."

"Kendra is an amazing viola teacher. Since this was my first online lesson ever, I was skeptical at first. However, Kendra's kindness and positive attitude assured me that I had made the right decision. She covers many aspects of both the technical parts of handling the viola, as well as perfecting intonation and handling a wide variety of styles of music. She also is attentive to specific needs, and accomodates for different paths depending on individual goals. Thanks for all you do for me Kendra!"

"I studied with Michael Drobycki during my last two years of high school. In that time he helped me tremendously with my technique and developing my sense of musicality. I was able to make huge amounts of improvement within that time, which allowed me to place into my school’s highest orchestra as well as All-Region placement. Additionally, he helped me find the viola that I concertized on for more than nine years. He continues to be one of my mentors to this day."
