I have been playing the upright bass for more than half my life and love imparting half-a-lifetime's worth of knowledge that I've accumulated from trials, errors, successes, injuries, recovering and travels while touring and performing on the upright bass all around America with a number of bands. In my life I have studied: classical music, jazz standards, old-time fiddle music, bluegrass numbers, classic country grooves, accompanying singer-songwriters and much more. I am a lover of any music that can be traced back into the roots of the wonderful American music cannon. I was an Orchestra Teacher for over 10 years and taught many children how to play the bass from beginners to advanced players. I know how to make corrections verbally because these were instructions I had to make orally in class. I will help you develop your technique and improve your facility on the instrument.

My name is Jerry. I LOVE music and passing my knowledge on to others. I have played many different instruments in many different kinds of bands. It all one major thing in common, it was FUN! If you are not having fun while learning an instrument you won't want to learn. Lessons can be fun AND educational at the same time. I have had many parents tell me I'm one of the best teachers they have ever seen. (A couple of them were public school teachers themselves). I truly want my students to succeed and I will do everything in my power to help them accomplish that!
