I work with beginning, intermediate, and advanced bass players, helping them to understand how music works, how to get the sounds they want from the bass guitar, and how all of it relates to music they like.

I have been playing bass guitar since I began playing with bands. I love playing the bass and love sharing this instrument with others. I enjoy finding new songs and ways to help my students have fun while progressing.

I have had the privilege of nearly 20 years of playing music and have been able to apply my skills and knowledge into learning bass and effectively teach my students. I teach a variety of skills and styles including but not limited to: rock, jazz, blues, country, pop, alternative, pick style, finger style, and others. My goal as an instructor is to keep the lessons fresh, fun, interesting, and to ultimately guide the students to better teach themselves as they gain experience and familiarity with the instrument and music. My goal as a teacher is to give you the facility to express yourself through music. The key parts to developing this facility are:

1. theory -- if you know your theory, you know the best way to express your idea without having to think about it
2. technique -- the last thing you want is for your technique to hinder your ability to express your idea. Having good technique lets your ideas flow naturally

When you take lessons with me, you get out of it what you put in. Your job as student is to be honest with what you expect to achieve and my job as teacher is to give you the tools to achieve it
