Hi, my name is Andy. I've been teaching music professionally for the past 15 years. In that time, I've worked with students of almost every conceivable age and ability level on a wide variety of instruments (ukulele, guitar, bass guitar, banjo, harmonica, piano) and am here to help make your musical dreams come true.

I customize my lessons to the needs/learning style of each individual student with a focus on technique, music theory, and songwriting. With all that in mind, I'd love to hear about your musical goals and figure out the best path to get you there.

Harmonica:
A free reed wind instrument used worldwide in many musical genres, notably in blues, American folk music, classical music, jazz, country, and rock and roll. There are many types of harmonica, including diatonic, chromatic, tremolo, octave, orchestral, and bass versions. A harmonica is played by using the mouth, lips and tongue to direct air into or out of one or more holes along a mouthpiece. Behind each hole is a chamber containing at least one reed. A harmonica reed is a flat elongated spring typically made of brass, stainless steel, or bronze, which is secured at one end over a slot that serves as an airway. When the free end is made to vibrate by the player's air, it alternately blocks and unblocks the airway to produce sound. The lessons will consist of starting at the very beginning with the basics of first learning how to breathe and make tones through multiple holes and then getting a sound from one hole. You can expect me to listen to what you tell me, listen to how you play, and then give you information and activities to increase your understanding and develop your abilities. It could be anything from which end of the harmonica is up to advanced classical or jazz performance, or anything in between - blues harp, Neil Young, you name it.
