Today was our first lesson. Karen was on time and professional, and also very personable. She took the time to see what level each of my girls was at. I like that she teaches theory along with playing.

Broadway/Musical Theater has a rich and exciting history, evolving from opera to operetta, to major movie productions from the golden era of Hollywood in the 1940's/ 1950's to radical social and political themes from the 1960's (a la Hair) to present day Hamilton. We survey this history with songs spanning the Musical Theater genre, and focus on songs of student's choosing. Exploration of story-line, character study, and "song as monologue" are major considerations within lessons. Audition preparation can be part of the lessons as indicated by the student. In terms of the Broadway "sound", we use exercises that expand the voice in volume, range and emotional expression.

About Rachel

A graduate of Duke Ellington School for the Arts and the prestigious Berklee College of Music, Rachel Panay is a 6 time Billboard Club charting singer/songwriter in the Dance music genre. She recently returned to her musical theatre roots appearing as Rose in Theatre Lab's production of The Secret

Rachel has taught our son since first grade; he's now in third. She's tailored lessons to his musical taste (the Beatles) while providing a strong foundation on which to build. She's been very flexible and accommodating throughout the switch from in-person to remote lessons, and he really enjoys the time with her. Knowing that so many kids are motivated by short-term goals, she's planned even more recitals during this remote time than when they were solely in-person, and that's been a great motivator for our son to practice.

DO NOT BOOK WITH RACHEL PANAY RAZIEL
It is with deep regret that I have to report that Rachel was clearly INTOXICATED during her lessons with my children today (ages 14 & 11). We will not be using Take Lessons again. There is no way an app can sufficiently vet all these teachers. Please don’t put your children in danger and learn this lesson the hard way like we didi.

Rachel is a great teacher for my 12 year old child. Rachel builds her confidence and meets her exactly where she is at. I highly recommend her.

I am now on my second year of graduate studies at Shenandoah University for Music Performance with a concentration in voice. Before going to graduate school I took a year off and taught privately at a music school. Within a few weeks my students improved a few of them even performed in a recital. One student also performed in a local children's production of Legally Blonde. Students who study with me will learn the basics and proper technique to sing, will sing appropriate repertoire and I will prepare the student if he or she would like to make a career in singing.

About Gwen

I will teach you a method of singing technique based on "Emotion Centered Singing" which was passed on to me by my teacher in Australia. This technique helped me immensely in finding my voice and expand my range. I'm thrilled to be able to share my experiences as a performer and teaching artist with you. This technique will truly help you understand music beyond melody and composition but also through text and individual interpretation and story telling.

Hi there, my name is Francisca! I graduated with a Bachelor of Music from the University of Western Sydney Australia with (High Class Honors) and Majored in Music Performance (voice major) and Sub Majors in Composition and Theatre. I am a very passionate and dedicated voice and piano instru

I love Francisca’s patience, openness and expertise with vocals and playing the keys. I enjoyed our lively and very down to earth session and learning about breath and vocal health. She gave me tips since I lived in a Nevada which is a very dry place and ways I could improve my vocals in that climate.
I recommend anyone who is looking for a straightforward approach to technique to get lessons from Francisca! She is amazing!
Stacey
What a wonderful experience it was to work with this instructor. Her own experiences and talent far surpasses anything I had expected to experience in an online session.
She has an ability to help me find my voice and I am truly grateful to work with someone with her patience and ability to adapt to my level of learning. She is wonderful for any age group and extremely accommodating to make time for lessons.
I would recommend everyone to give her a try and would guarantee you will not be disappointed!
Jenny
I’ve had such a great time doing virtual lessons with Francisca! It is always so scary and nerve-racking to start with a new instructor, but I immediately felt at ease. Her energy is welcoming and calming, and What I admire most is that she can feel when I’m not emotionally in the song but instead in my head. Thank you for pushing me to break through these vocal cord cobwebs and get these pipes polished!

"Cara is a very patient teacher and is great at making you feel comfortable singing. She has lots of experience as a both teacher and a performer and it shows. I'm a busy person and I don't always have time to practice as much as I should, many music teachers are agressively critical in such situations but Cara is very understanding and teaches at the pace you can manage.

She has the experience to recommend songs which really showcase your voice to the greatest degree but is also is willing to take input on what kind of music you prefer to sing, so you're never bored or out of your depth while practicing.

I'm very glad I found Cara and I can't recommend her services enough."

"Kelly is a fantastic teacher who we would recommend without hesitation. Kelly partners the dynamics of voice, proper breathing techniques and performing skills to make sure her students reach their full potential. While working with her, my daughter has built a diverse repertoire of performance pieces, expanded her range and learned a solid foundation of voice instruction. Her fun and dynamic lessons would benefit singers of any level."
