I'm an experienced and dedicated musician, having played with Orchestras and Chamber groups throughout my state. My lessons are focused on relaxation, and am as laid back or strict as the student needs. Whether you're a beginner or advanced, shooting to be a church player or a pro, I have taught students for that and am the teacher for you.

About Nicholas

Nicholas is a professional cellist that has studied since the age of 9. He has now been teaching the cello, viola, and violin for over a decade for students of all ages, beginner to pre-college level. Throughout Nicholas’s career, he has been an active member of Honors Orchestras, Youth Symphon

This far he is a very knowledgeable and professional person. Unfortunately we found that my cello was lacking due to defects in build and so now I have to get a replacement which I am hoping does not hinder our lessons. He has been very helpful with getting me sites to get material and tools necessary for our sessions. Look forward to our next session and moving forward.

He is really good at helping you understand how to play the instrument in detailed but open ways. He is a font of information.

While I primarily use the Barbara Barber books for beginning viola, I can use any method book you prefer, adding the supplemental materials I've developed, or just take you through ensemble music. In viola lessons, we will play a lot of duets, since viola is typically a supporting/ensemble instrument, but you'll also learn how to be a solid viola soloist.

Beginning students will gain a solid grasp of all the "essentials": basic theory, sight reading skills, counting, and technique. As soon as you have these, you have a lot of freedom with what you want to work on!

I take kids, adults, and teens. I have experience teaching kids with disabilities including Down's syndrome, trauma/PTSD, ADHD, cerebral palsy, and more.

Viola is the undersung hero of the orchestra, and I love to help violists learn this beautiful instrument! Though much of the technique of the instrument is the same or very similar to the violin, violists enjoy a great repertoire of solo pieces and high demand in ensembles, which I can help you discover for yourself. (Please see my violin profile for more information on experience and lesson style)

About Cieran

I love music, and I love helping other people find and develop their love for music! I teach all styles of violin (including fiddle) and piano to ages 4 and up, with a strong emphasis on finding what kind of music each student enjoys and building a life-long love of music with solid technical founda

Cieran is a great teacher. I am an adult student who studied some as a child. So he assessed my skill level and took it from there. I feel we are going at my own speed, and it is very enjoyable for me. Cieran is highly qualified to teach and is very pleasant to work with.

Cieran is absolutely fantastic. Regardless of what type of style you are trying to learn, he is the teacher for you. He has a great passion for music and is knowledgeable, kind, and patient. Every lesson is tailored to what you would like to learn. Not only that, but he is an extremely gifted player, so after hearing what I aspire to sound like, I am motivated to practice more than ever!

I teach students to discover and utilize tools they already have in order to take their playing to the next level. As a Juilliard-trained musician, I know how important it is to never lose sight of why we love music in the first place. This looks different for everyone, and I believe that music lessons are about finding what students can apply from other areas of their life that will enrich their musical experience. As a kid and an adult, I've found that feeling inspired is the best way to motivate oneself!

About Lydia

I am a professional violist and student living in New York City. I am currently finishing my undergraduate studies at the Juilliard School as a student of Hsin-Yun Huang and Misha Amory, and am continuing as a graduate student next year as a student of Misha Amory and Cynthia Phelps. "Rachael is an amazing teacher. She started teaching my son in fourth grade. Her patience, perseverance, and knowledge took my son to another level; exceeding his peers. Under Rachael's instruction and guidance he was able to come so far; being accepted into a camp which he had to audition for, becoming principal violist in his school program and this year, became a rotating principal in our local prelude youth orchestra. None of this could have been achieved without Rachael's instruction. She was flexible when needed, available for advice during off hours and inspired my son to always aspire to do his best. If you are looking for an instructor that is patient, can look outside of the box and is in engaged in your student's success, Rachael is the teacher for you!"

I’ve been taking Viola lesson with Susanna for over four years…including various breaks for health issues (two strokes, carpal tunnel surgery)…and Susanna always knows where to restart lessons.

You can stop looking for a strings teacher now, because you’ve just found the best there is!"
