Stephen, is the first guitar instructor where I was able to successfully follow along with him and play an entire song from start to finish. I felt like a real guitarist! He's fun, supportive and has an upbeat positive attitude. He'll be patient with you and meet you where you're at musically.

Five stars!

I am new to playing the flute, self-taught for 8 months. Cooper is very personable and I think he spotted my weaknesses quickly. He was very encouraging and gave me a mixture of exercises working on the beginnings of listening and playing with another musician as well as fingering. He is going to get some theory in as well, so that’s hitting all of what is essential for me to move forward.

Cooper is kind and encoraging and helped my son work through a difficult audition piece. He really related well with my son and made him feel proud of his abilities and skills. I would be glad to recommend Cooper.

About Rose

Hello, I'm Miss Rose. I've been teaching since I was 14 years old. I started off as a junior piano teacher, working with school aged children, and have been teaching ever since. I love music! Life just wouldn't be as sweet without it. Teaching is a passion of mine which will show in my lessons. I a

Rose is my 2021 blessing! My granddaughter decided she wanted to play the violin. I bought her one and we looked for someone to teach her. After the first lesson I decided I too wanted to learn a musical instrument and decided that the piano would fit me. I asked about lessons and they introduced me to Rose. What a difference one person can make in your life. After only three lessons I am playing songs, with cords. I am amazed at myself and it’s all because Rose, she is a wonder teacher. I enjoy her teaching me and I learn so much in each lesson. She is wonderful. Thank you Rose for your patience with an older student. I look forward to each lesson and can not wait to see what I can play next.

I'm glad I found Paul on takelessons.com. I was looking for someone to help me take my decent but untrained voice to the next level. Paul is committed to helping me advance toward my goal of being a singer-songwriter. In addition to the exercises we work on to strengthen my voice and gain control, he has given me some strategies to track my progress and improve more quickly. He also encourages me to take risks and go out and sing karaoke. He is caring and authentic and genuinely invested in my growth, and I am becoming a better musician because of it. Thank you, Paul!!

Harmonica:
A free reed wind instrument used worldwide in many musical genres, notably in blues, American folk music, classical music, jazz, country, and rock and roll. There are many types of harmonica, including diatonic, chromatic, tremolo, octave, orchestral, and bass versions. A harmonica is played by using the mouth, lips and tongue to direct air into or out of one or more holes along a mouthpiece. Behind each hole is a chamber containing at least one reed. A harmonica reed is a flat elongated spring typically made of brass, stainless steel, or bronze, which is secured at one end over a slot that serves as an airway. When the free end is made to vibrate by the player's air, it alternately blocks and unblocks the airway to produce sound. The lessons will consist of starting at the very beginning with the basics of first learning how to breathe and make tones through multiple holes and then getting a sound from one hole. We will learn how blowing in or out creates different ...

Karen was great!

This teacher misrepresented her ability to teach the C system chromatic button accordion. I don't believe that she has ever played one. I asked her before purchasing a set of classes if she knew this instrument and was competent to teach it, and she said she was.

She didn't have one, so she could never demonstrate anything I asked about. She didn't know the key layout. She didn't know the conventions for numbering fingers. She didn't know the basic home key scale pattern.

I waited until I'd finished four classes with my new teacher before writing this so I'd have a good basis for comparison. He is immensely better at teaching this than she was. It further convinced me that she never should have represented herself as competent to teach this particular instrument.

"In my first lesson with Winslow he listened to what I had to say about my experience, my frustrations and my goals. He listened to me play and quickly diagnosed some issues and offered some helpful advice on how to address them. I came away with a much better sense of how to structure my practices to make them more productive and with some specific things on which to work."

"Matt provided an awesome learning experience through down to earth, easy to understand explanations. Trying to figure harmonica playing out on my own for 2 years, I had heard of some of the concepts he taught with the music theory, but when he explained it, it actually made sense. Before this lesson, I mostly played along with the lyrics of songs that I know. After going over and learning the song "low rider", which is a new song for me, I am encouraged to seek out songs that have harmonica parts. One of my original goals in taking lessons is to learn to be able to improvise and I was given the opportunity to play the harmonica while Matt played the guitar. The hour was packed with information and harping and I am looking forward to my next lesson. If you are looking for an awesome instructor, I highly recommend Matt."
