Experienced Bass Guitar teacher of 12 years available for eager students of all experience levels and ages! My lessons are a custom fit for each individual. There is no ONE way that everyone learns, and that is why I take the time to create lesson plans that are tailored to each student. Obviously, there are basics that every students needs to know, but beyond that, your personal musical goals will be at the forefront of your lessons with me!

Room for music lessons, amplifiers, cables, and seating for parents.
*** Instructional Materials ***
I provide most instructional materials (worksheets, individualized lesson notes, etc.). I rarely use method books, but if a method book is desired, it will need to be provided by the student.
I expect my students to provide their own instrument.

Students will learn the fundamentals of bass playing technique such as note reading, posture, groove, and dexterity exercises. Students will be exposed to various styles of music and bass playing and will be encouraged to bring in material from music they enjoy. As students learn and accumulate repertoire, they will be exposed to different performance techniques, ear training exercises, and improvisation skills. Students will be encouraged to improvise their own grooves in lessons as we cover different styles of music and the virtuosic bass players that made them groove!

I never had picked up a Bass Guitar until I was in College. My first month I met two guys who had known eachother from high school and wanted to start a band. They both played Guitar (my main instrument at the time) so I lied through my teeth and told them I played the Bass but I didn't have room to bring it so I'd have to borrow their's. I was currently in my first semester of Music Theory and the tuning is the same as the bottom four strings of a Guitar so I just went for it. They liked me and I was hooked! I was in that band for over 7 years!
I began teaching Bass in 2005 when I joined The School of Rock in Downingtown, Pennsylvania and haven't stopped since! My teaching method uses a lot of Music Theory and popular, noteworthy Bass songs to teach students how to be rock solid as the backbone of a band. I am an expert at figuring songs out by ear so pick your favorite tunes and we can learn to play them! From 'never played before' to 'I wanna learn a Jaco tune (if you don't know

(Students are free to take both upright and bass guitar lessons interchangeably). Whether you're looking to learn bass within the scope of meshing with other live musicians or have more of a soloist mindset, I've got you covered. I have played bass since 1997 and will never run out of new things to show you.
About Chaetan
Having played music for as long as I can remember (my father is an accomplished Jazz and Soul drummer), music has always been a key ingredient in my life. From playing the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles theme on the drum set as a toddler, I have gone on to learn electric/classical/lap steel guitar, e

I look forward to my weekly guitar lessons with Chaetan because he is a very knowledgeable, relaxed, and patient teacher. He tailors my lessons to meet my personal goals (learning those pinnacle acoustic songs). But as an exceptional instructor, he also guides me to meet goals he has for me as a student, such as learning to build chords on my own. The quality of his instruction has already increased my progress on the instrument. Overall, his talent and interest in music motivate me to practice so I am fortunate to have found Chaetan as my guitar teacher.
Chaetan is a very friendly instructor who tailors his lessons to meet both the experience level and type of music a student is interested in. Chaetan has a lot of energy and makes the lessons fun. He appears to know every aspect of what he is teaching as well as plays other instruments. My daughter and I are both very happy with Chaetan.

As a bass player in a punk rock band I learned to apply the concepts I know on the guitar over to bass and slowly started introducing intervals and right and left hand techniques that are not as common on the guitar. A few of my bass students are professionals and have applied to big name music schools after taking my class.

Eric's a great teacher for first time musicians. I'm about a month in and he's been nothing but responsive and helpful. I came with a playlist of songs and he immediately picked up on my tastes and adjusted our lessons accordingly."
