I play many different styles of bass guitar and teach to all ages. This is a fun instrument to learn.

Learn the practical application of music theory on the bass by studying songs. You will begin to understand how bass lines are written. After learning shapes and patterns you will be on your way to writing your own bass lines and jamming on your favorite songs.

We will play whatever the student would like to learn! I use the Hal Leonard Bass Method with students to give them a solid understanding of the fundamentals of bass guitar playing. I encourage my students to always find new songs that they would like to learn so we can go over them together.

I will work on technique,improvisation in jazz and other styles,classical repertoire, playing different grooves,constructing bass lines, and overall bass playing (accompanying)

I will also work on styles such as RnB, Soul, Rock, Pop, Fusion, and Country.

I will mainly focus on learning new music and applying new techniques to new songs. We can also focus on real world application of various techniques. These might include bass line construction, ear training, composition, and reading.

The bassist of a band is, in my opinion, the unsung hero of most ensembles. That’s why I try to instill in every bass student a sense of who they are in the ensemble and the importance of their role.
I would say that I teach bass guitar from the perspective of an upright bassist, that is I focus on getting the student to learn the correct pitch names (rather than fret numbers) of the positions they play in. I think that is one of the secrets to becoming a versatile bassist in any genre of music.

I can help students learn the basics of the bass guitar and also how to read a lead sheet and accompany jazz standards.
