I have been teaching piano for over 25 years. Each student is unique; so I customize the lessons and repertoire to suit each student, utilizing method books and/or different styles of music depending on the student's interest. I always include music theory, note comprehension, rhythm and practice tips. With Classical piano, more emphasis is placed on scales and finger strengthening exercises with Hanon.

About Amber
I am an experienced, enthusiastic music instructor, who started playing piano around 8 years of age and participated in many musical activities. I received my Bachelor of Music Education from the University of Massachusetts, majoring in Music Education (voice and piano). I have appeared around the world as a soloist singing jazz and pop, including the Blue Note, NYC, and appeared as a guest soloist at the 2000 Southern California Summer Special Olympics. I also participated in ensemble groups such as the Masterworks Chorale in NYC, and the Verdi Opera Chorus of Southern California; and currently I volunteer at the Senior Center leading/accompanying the Sing-Alongs.

Inspired by my love of music, I have been teaching piano and voice for over 25 years from NY to LA and now Orange County. In conjunction with my teaching skills, I have
excellent communication skills, patience and enthusiasm, and work well with children and all ages. I feel that music is an important part of education, and it aids in the development of cognitive and motor skills. And most of all, it is fun and rewarding, and a skill to last a lifetime!

I thoroughly enjoyed meeting Amber and working with her today. I was immediately put at ease - Amber made me feel welcome, accepted and was incredibly helpful to me today, as I am auditioning on Sunday to sing as a soloist at my church! I have great exercises to strengthen my diaphragm, and she gave really good instruction regarding how to get the correct sound for each voice range. I am looking forward to meeting with her again, and continuing my studies under Amber.

I've played piano since I was four years old. You'll learn not just how to become technically proficient, but how to find the emotional nuances in every piece. You'll learn how to interpret every piece you play to make it your own, while still expressing the wishes of the composer. And you'll gain all the technical and theoretical tools you need along the way, all in service of making expressive music.

About Jonathan
I am a classically trained composer working with today's leading performers, and a lifelong guitarist and pianist in rock and indie bands. My teaching/consulting studio will help you develop your full potential as a musical artist, whether you're a songwriter, composer or performer.

Jon is fabulous! He is able to provide a mix of classical, contemporary music styles to build on and develop a broad base of musical interest my son has. He is able to tailor his teaching tools to fit in with my son's interests. This is no mean feat, especially when my son is only 8 years of age.

Thanks so much Jon!

Classical piano is FUNdamental. Now I capitalized the first three words because most people find classical piano to be dull. I promise you it's not. It's all about finding the right piece that fits your level of learning. My goal with classical piano is to have you look forward to going home and practicing without falling asleep. You never know, you may be the next great Beethoven in the making.

About Mia
As an orphan in war-torn Sierra Leone, I was delighted to be adopted by an American family when I was nearly five years old. Then I was further overjoyed when I walked into the living room of my new home and discovered a piano! By my fifth birthday I was taking piano lessons. Since that day more than 17 years ago, I have continuously studied classical piano. I began studying jazz piano when I was 13. I began playing the oboe in middle school, and in high school I was the English horn soloist in the Vermont All-State Orchestra and the first oboist in the Green Mountain Youth Orchestra. I sang as a soloist in the Vermont Youth Orchestra Chorus, in the Flynn Theatre’s Jazz Combo, and at the Bill Reed Voice Studio. I recently earned my Master’s Certificate in Singing/ Songwriting from the Berklee College of Music, where I am majoring in son
gwriting and keyboard through the online program so that I can live here in Georgia.

Come by and together let's create MUSIC MAGIC

I have been taking piano lessons from Paula for close to 10 years, and it has been great experience. I have learned to play a variety of music from rock to classical. Some qualities I like about Paula is that she is patient, and she will challenge and encourage you. We have played various venues in Knoxville, but my favorite is the Fantasy of Trees. It is a great way to support Children's Hospital. Young or old, I highly recommend Paula for anyone wanting to learn piano.

Upon re-locating to the area, we were referred to Paula Johnson for our daughter's continuing lessons. We were fortunate to have four years with Paula before our daughter left for college. During that time, our daughter was challenged in all genre's of music and excelled under Paula's excellent tutelage. Her instruction in theory and practical application instilled skills in our daughter that she has taken with her into her adult life and will enjoy in the future.

My daughter has been taking piano lessons from Paula for over 4 years, she started when she was just 9 and knew next to nothing about music. Paula is great teacher, very patient and has provided lots of different music options (Disney movie theme songs, Classical, Jazz and Christmas classics) which has helped to keep my daughter interested in continuing to play.

I met Lori at a recent voice competition where she was the designated pianist for my division. She rehearsed patiently, returned texts promptly, and kept a steady, cheerful attitude through two days surrounded by stressed-out singers. As for her playing, she performed challenging repertoire with grace and disciplined understatement that made it clear she was there to help us shine. It's hard for me to overstate just how good an accompanist she is.

Your musical goals are my number one concern by providing you with a solid foundation in which to grow in any direction of your choosing. I have been teaching and working in many facets of the music industry for over 45 years which gives me a unique perspective in helping guide you to success. Your lessons are completely tailored to your individual needs utilizing established and customized content.

About Darren
Starting a professional career at age 15 and never looking back has taken me many places during my 45 years in the entertainment field. I have experienced many facets of the industry and continue to apply the highest degree of skill, professionalism and talent to my full time music career. With an unblemished history of thousands of performances, I have established a track record of outstanding proportion.

Starting at only eight years old, I studied classical and contemporary organ literature with acclaimed accordionist Daniel Desiderio. In high school, I studied voice and conducting with Dr. Harry Mechell and went on to major in Music Education with concentration in piano and voice at Temple University. After Temple, I began my studies in jazz, theory and composition with virtuoso guitarist William J. Walton and worked with him for e
ight years.

My professional affiliations have included membership in the National Association of Music Educators, board member with Atlanta based TORCH (Together Orchestras Revitalize Community Harmony), board member and music director with Florida based For-Kids-Only and music director with Atlanta based Yes You Can! Foundation. All three organizations work through music to benefit a wide range of needs for children and communities.

I have worked extensively as a pianist, multi- keyboardist, vocalist, soloist, group performer, accompanist, teacher, music director, conductor and arranger as well as being an international recording artist.

THE ACCOMPANIST ~~~
To be an accompanist is an art form that requires the ability to cross effortlessly between multiple styles. It also requires that the lead vocal or instrument is supported to the fullest degree that allows total freedom of expression while knowing each moment of a performance can be undertaken with complete confidence.
This is the art form that I have mastered and give total attention to detail in each performance.

THE TEACHER ~~~
Teaching is an area that I am passionate about. Working with young aspiring musicians as well as seasoned professionals and amateurs of all ages, I found many people lacking a well rounded understanding of theory and how music works in general. This prompted me to begin teaching many years ago. When I studied with William Walton who was a Dennis Sandole disciple, I was given full permission to teach the same method and expand upon it as it naturally evolved. My varied experience gives my a unique perspective on working with people who are truly interested in expanding their talents and musical understanding.

Highlights of my career include performances as conductor and pianist for the one-and-only Mickey Rooney and pianist for a series of teaching clinics with the most recorded guitarist in the world, Tommy Tedesco.

I have also appeared for or performed with: actress & singer - Susan Anton, R&B artist - Archie Bell, Mr. QVC - Bob Bowersox, jazz & classical guitarist - Charlie Byrd, jazz guitarist - Jerry Byrd, Oregon, Rochester and Atlanta Symphony Orchestra principal bassist - Colin Corner, the one-and-only - Rodney Dangerfield, NBC Today Show Superstar Vocal Winner - Dan Gardner, legendary big band vocalist - Connie Haynes, guitarist - Jef Lee Johnson, guitar superstar - Earl Klugh, R&B superstars - Blue Magic, sports legends - Mike Schmidt & Fran Tarkenton, Rock & Roll Hall of Fame members - The Shirelles, Broadway sensation Susan Stroman, legendary trumpeter & saxophonist - Glenn Zottola, governors, mayors, major political figures and prominent diplomats.

My students gain a well-rounded perspective of music and a deep understanding of the instrument from studying all areas of piano including theory, history, and technique. I take care to craft lessons to meet individual needs, learning styles, and interests. Together, we set personal goals with regards to piano performance and utilize a the vast resources of repertoire to achieve them in lessons and through learning how to practice effectively.

About Erin
I am an enthusiastic piano instructor with over eight years experience teaching beginning through intermediate students. I currently run a studio out of my home in Peachtree City, GA but am happy to travel to your location.

I began teaching piano at an early age after graduating from a Piano Pedagogy course. I furthered my education by taking a college level music theory course where I gained invaluable knowledge related to the theoretical underpinnings of musical notation. I have related teaching experience in the arts and was a dance and music & movement instructor for six years. To support my professional teaching goals I have also taken courses in child development at the collegiate level.

To stay up to date on current pedagogical methodologies, I maintain a membership to a local chapter of the Georgia Music Teachers Association.
This also allows my students to take part in an annual judging festival called Federation if this aligns with their performance goals.

I love crafting individual objectives and paths for piano education with all my students. Their goals become my goals and I strive to use all the pedagogical tools available to help them reach a rewarding level of experience with the piano. Practice is a large responsibility and undertaking by the student but I am here to coach you through proper ways to manage your time and give you exercises to help you see improvement in your playing each week.
