I have been playing viola for about 14 years, and I specialize in all experience levels of students. I am highly trained in music theory, technique, and improvisation, and whether you want to learn basic string technique, play a Bach sonata, or learn how to improvise in a complex tune, I can help! I am very open to any ideas and desires my students have, and I strive to make learning music both fun and rewarding for the student. I teach using the Suzuki method, rhythmic training, pop music songs, and various supplementary technique books to enhance and round out the learning experience of each of my students. I also have an open schedule to cater to your time constraints, so let’s get started!

About Will

Hi there! I have been a musician for 14 years, and have been teaching private lessons for 5 years. I study Viola Performance and Jazz Performance at the University of Georgia, as well as play in the symphony, a string quartet, a bluegrass band, a jazz trio, and write music for a variety of these en

My daughter has been taking lessons from Will for about a year. We are lucky enough to live near Athens, so lessons take place at our home. I have been so pleased with Will. He is a great teacher - enthusiastic, kind, patient, and knowledgeable. Even though he has many students, he always remembers exactly what they were working on. He takes interest in my daughter's life and will ask her how marching band is going, or other things about school. I especially like that Will is someone that she can look up to as an example of hard work and perseverance. He's not only a great teacher, but he's just a good person, and I am so glad we found him!
Jeff R.
very impressed with Will. I'm a bit older than most students and may not have the dexterity in my fingers so Will was very understanding and helpful. I must admit that it's all a bit overwhelming but I will practice and hopefully get to a place I want to be. By the way, I'm only giving 4 stars but assume Will will get to 5 stars within the next couple of weeks. I never give 5 stars on day one.

Hi everyone! I'm a music teacher who wants to help you to grow in the musical field.

About Abigail

Languages and Art! I had a great journey to become a teacher. When I was studying music in high school I had a "no too nice teacher", and that motivated me to study education... why? Because I promise myself to become a person who would be able to share knowledge without prejudice or selfishness. I

Hello! I've been performing for 21 years and teaching for 15 years. Teaching has always been a passion for me! Whether you're an adult trying the violin or viola for the first time, or a dedicated student aiming to major in music, I can adapt my approach to suit your needs. I will help you build confidence in your playing through presenting attainable goals each week, while also providing appropriate challenges. I aim to help you feel comfortable and natural as you play by prioritizing proper posture and technique.

I have a Master's degree from the Peabody Conservatory in Violin Performance with an emphasis in pedagogy. I have performed in the U.S.A. and Europe, with well-known artists such as Andrea Bocelli, Yo-Yo Ma, Itzahk Perlman, and the Trans-Siberian Orchestra. My teacher training includes the Suzuki method (registered for books 1-5) and the Mark O'Connor method (certified for books 1-2).

My hope is that the violin or viola becomes a constant source of inspiration and ...

Mrs. Hollis is a very kind and patient instructor. She is great at teaching technique and important skills that have to be learned in order to play the violin at your best. My son Ben absolutely loves taking lessons with her and he has learned so much. She is so professional, talented and has so much experience! She is a perfect instructor for anyone who would like to learn to Play the violin!
Olivia
Mrs. Hammonds is such a wonderful teacher! I came to her when I just started high school and was overwhelmed with joy when I found such a great teacher. Focusing on memorization, technique, and working on a solid foundation even after playing for 10 years prior, really reflected in my playing. I think she was the teacher who really showed me why I wanted to play violin and set my foundation up to improve more and more even today!
Kim
As an adult student that let my violin sit idle for too many years, Hollis was able to help me regain some basics skills and build upon them to re-learn different playing styles. Her approach was refreshing and focused on helping me re-learn some classical pieces that were familiar to my background. In addition, she introduced some jazz and fiddle pieces that I was interested in branching out with and worked with me to fine tune bowing techniques for each style.
I would highly recommend Hollis as an instructor for anyone starting out or looking to improve upon existing skills!
