I teach viola to students of all ages and levels! As a violist of 15 years, my background is in classical music. My teaching is informed by Suzuki methodology, and I often start first-time violists with Suzuki teaching practices. However, I specialize in teaching a variety of genres, and I work individually with my students to determine how I can support them wherever they are in their musical journey!

Hello! I've been performing for 21 years and teaching for 15 years. Teaching has always been a passion for me! Whether you're an adult trying the violin or viola for the first time, or a dedicated student aiming to major in music, I can adapt my approach to suit your needs. I will help you build confidence in your playing through presenting attainable goals each week, while also providing appropriate challenges. I aim to help you feel comfortable and natural as you play by prioritizing proper posture and technique.

I have a Master's degree from the Peabody Conservatory in Violin Performance with an emphasis in pedagogy. I have performed in the U.S.A. and Europe, with well-known artists such as Andrea Bocelli, Yo-Yo Ma, Itzahk Perlman, and the Trans-Siberian Orchestra. My teacher training includes the Suzuki method (registered for books 1-5) and the Mark O'Connor method (certified for books 1-2).

My name is Jerry. I LOVE music and passing my knowledge on to others. I have played many different instruments in many different kinds of bands. It all one major thing in common, it was FUN! If you are not having fun while learning an instrument you won't want to learn. Lessons can be fun AND educational at the same time. I have had many parents tell me I'm one of the best teachers they have ever seen. (A couple of them were public school teachers themselves). I truly want my students to succeed and I will do everything in my power to help them accomplish that!

Music is one of God's greatest gifts to us. Invest in your desire or ability to create it. I teach piano, violin, and viola. If you're looking to start or if you want to get better at your instrument, I'd love to be your coach. I have a Bachelor's degree in Music & Worship and a Masters in Teaching, and I'm a certified K-12 music teacher. I've taught individual music lessons for 7 years. I'm also a worship leader at a church and a songwriter/arranger for Red Tie Music. Music is my passion, and I'd love the opportunity to share it with you and your family.

Viola is the glue that bind the violin and cello in any strings ensemble. Whether you are a beginner, violin transplant, or switch hitter. I will work with you to become a proud member of this close-knit group. An excellent choice of instrument for someone arriving late to the music game, or someone who wants to become a more versatile violinist.

For beginners, I prefer using the "Essential Elements for Strings" book, which offers students a head start to what many school will use in their classrooms. For intermediate students, the "Suzuki" books offers repertoire that has become a rite of passage for any string player. Advanced students can expect pieces that are tailor selected for them to show off their unique strengths and address their weakness.

Students can expect a relaxed, fun, and encouraging atmosphere for learning. The viola can be an intimidating instrument- you will make a lot of unpleasant sounds before you start sounding great- and that's okay! I'll be there to guide you and help you reach your goals.

If you're already an experience player, you can expect me "workshopping" your technique. We will analyze your form, practice patterns, and playing style, to ensure that you are growing and improving from the moment we begin. I will push you to become the most expressive player that you can become, but at a pace that feels comfortable for you.
