I am a graduate candidate working on completing my thesis as my final requirement for a Masters of Arts degree in Music at San Diego State University. Tiffani was interested in the knowing what I wanted to learn about. I am looking forward to more lessons!
I've been teaching singing for 30 years and Broadway singing for the last 15 years. My approach is to ensure the student is using excellent technique while singing. You will expand your repertoire as well as improve your technique and artistry. Lessons begin with vocal technique and move on to singing songs.
I have been singing for as long as I can remember. It is my very favorite activity. I have transformed my love of singing into a career.
I have been teaching music lessons for over 25 years. When you study with me you will have the advantage of that experience. I have extensive experience teaching students of all ages. Throughout my teaching career I have taught students with varied backgrounds and diverse needs. If you are a person who was told not to sing by your music teacher, don't give up! I have taught many children and adults to match pitches and improve their singing voices.
I earned a Bachelor of Music in Music Education from Moravian College and a Master of Music in Vocal Performance from Temple University. While at Temple, I studied standard vocal repertoire and Early Music. I have also completed graduate course
s in Early Childhood and Elementary Education at West Chester University.
I served on the faculty of Suburban Music School for 17 years where I taught voice, piano and recorder lessons. I also directed the Children’s Choir and the Women’s Choir. I was formerly on the faculty of Delaware County Community College where I taught courses in the Music Department; and of Temple Music Prep where I instituted, developed and maintained a vocal program at Temple University’s Ambler Campus.
In addition to teaching I was employed for eleven years as a chorister at Christ Church Christiana Hundred in Greenville, DE where I have had the opportunity to sing for such notable conductors as John Rutter, Sir David Wilcox, Sir Philip Ledger, Stephen Cleobury, and James O’Donnell. Previous choral work has included singing for Dr. Ifor Jones and for Michael Korn. I perform in solo and chamber music recitals throughout the Philadelphia area and in Cape May, NJ and with a Celtic group called Celtic Women and Friends.
*** Lesson Details *** Voice Lessons
When you study voice with me, you will start with the basics - posture, breathing and tone production. If you have studied before, we will review these areas and brush up on anything that needs work. The next step is to learn some vocal exercises to warm up and develop your voice. When the exercises are going well, we will begin to work on songs. You will need to learn some classical songs because they help to develop your voice, but we will also work on the kind of music you like best. In addition to songs, we will work on solfege (do, re, mi, etc.) which helps to train your ear and to improve your sightreading ability. If you don't know how to read music I will teach you that. If you read music but have some gaps in your knowledge, we will fill those in.
I teach what is called bel canto (beautiful singing). It is a healthy vocal technique that will help you avoid vocal problems. When you learn to sing with this technique, you can sing any style of music you want. After a few months of study, you should be able to tell that your voice is growing stronger, that you have better breath control, and that your range is increasing.
Although I have high expectations of my students, I am relaxed and friendly. If you love to laugh, we will enjoy that together!
When you study piano with me you will enjoy playing a variety of songs from your lesson book. As you advance, we may add a repertoire book which increases the number and variety of songs you play. There are many excellent piano methods. I use different methods for different students, depending on their needs.
Lessons will include posture and proper hand position, warm-ups, songs and music theory. Music theory is the study of notation and how music is put together. You will have a workbook with exercises for this study. If there is a particular style of music you would like to play, we will look for music at your level to add to your lesson. After a few months of study, you should know how to read basic notation and be able to play a number of songs. You will also have increased your knowledge of musical notation and harmony.
I expect my students to practice in preparation for their lesson every week. I am relaxed and friendly, so that should help to put you at your ease.
*** Studio Equipment *** Piano, music stand, stereo equip, seating for parents
*** Specialties *** I specialize in teaching the bel canto style singing. With this technique, a person can sing any style of music she or he chooses.
My granddaughter Kayla really enjoyed her first singing lesson. She was a bit nervous at first, but Barbara made her feel relaxed. Kayla felt that Barbara was patient with her and answered her many questions. Kayla is looking forward to next week and thing she can learn to help her sing better.

My daughter never had singing lessons before. Barbara is great with at explaining things to her. Great experience so far!
The voice is the grandest instrument of all instruments. For 20 years, Steven B is one of the best instructors out there. He teaches in students’ homes across the United States as easily as in the Coronado Music Studio. Provide teaching at all stages. All skill levels taught. Complete beginners are welcome. Mr. Bruce intersects methodologies of Bel Canto, Alexander's technique, and the secrets of singing. By the way, Alexander’s technique can bring back to health a damaged speaking voice, as well as keeping the singer’s voice sound and pain free. Broken down, singing involves three areas: mind, technique, and performance. There are many technical concepts to train in singing. From vowel shapes, to understanding consonants, to landing gently on high notes. Great technique leads to great expression. Steven B is skilled in educating a student for an audition or performance. The chief purpose of singing is to bring oneself joy. Prepare to learn a lot and have fun!
You may take voice
Steven B, Instructor PIANO - GUITAR - VOICE For over 25 years, Steven B has been successfully teaching hundreds of students on piano, guitar, and voice. He has over 60,000 hours experience as a teacher, musician, and performer. He teaches all styles, ages and skill levels. Beginners are most certainly welcome. The lessons are in the convenience of your home online throughout the United States with Multi-angle cameras for online students or in the Coronado Music Studio. Whatever your level, be prepared to learn and have fun!
In addition, he tailors the lessons to fit your goals and desires for your instrument, whether it be piano, guitar, and or voice! (Many of his students take lessons on two instruments, for example Guitar & Voice or Piano & Voice.) You may be wanting to learn your instrument from the beginning, and then finding out
your passion for a certain genre of music, or possibly learning and playing songs you love. In another example, you may have been playing for a period of time and possibly you desire to heighten your game, learning new skills and technique regarding your instrument. Or quite possibly, you want to blend the joy of singing while playing the piano or the guitar! It's time to go through the joy and benefits in playing a musical instrument and or singing!
PERFORMANCE Steven B has extensive experience in performance. For many years, he performed piano and sang at many fine establishments throughout San Diego and Los Angeles. Later on, he produced a concert tour and performed 50 concerts to 15,000 young people throughout San Diego. The title of his concert tour is Heroes In Our World. Steven B played keyboards, guitar and sang. The concerts honored real-life moms, dads, doctors, nurses, teachers, athletes, entertainers who give back to charity, police officers, firemen, and explorers who make our world a better place. His list of performances continues. He has a record of being the only musician to write a song, produce it, playing the instruments and vocals, along with filming and editing the videos of the performances each week for 52 consecutive weeks. His students benefit because he teaches many aspects in performance and can prepare students for any kind of audition or performance.
In conclusion, whether you want to learn to play an instrument and/or sing just for your own benefit and joy... Or you want to perform... Or you want to be professional earning money with music - you have come to the correct place. He will be looking forward in working with you. Again, he teaches all styles, ages and skill levels. Beginners are most welcome. He currently has one or two openings for new students.

“I took voice and piano lessons in Steven B’s Coronado Music Studio and also online via Skype. Both experiences were great, and it was really convenient to do the lessons on Skype. Steven B is an excellent teacher, and he is very patient. I recommend him to anyone who wants to learn to play an instrument or sing!” - Kat , 5 Stars!
“Steven B’s fun and patient teaching style rocks. I see how his bright, fun-loving personality, and knowledge of music for piano makes him top choice as my daughter’s music instructor.” - Anthony, 5 Stars!
“Steven B is a wonderful teacher! He is talented, always enthusiastic, and extremely motivational! Each lesson is designed specifically for our daughter Kelsey's ability and desired genre of music! Kelsey began guitar and vocal lessons in the Coronado studio and is now taking lessons via Skype since our move to Virginia. The lessons are convenient, affordable, and productive. We are excited to be able to still have Steven B as her guitar and vocal teacher!” - Amy, 5 Stars!
“I came to Steven B as a beginner in piano and I took the piano lessons on my Casio keyboard. I just wanted to learn my favorite songs. Steven B got me into the music I really enjoy! In only three months, I was able to play and sing a song I truly love titled “Angel” from Sarah McLachian. My teacher said I performed it as well as the artist. My friends, loved my performance of the song!” - Katrina, 5 Stars!
“My son has taken guitar and voice lessons with Steven B for the last year. We are pleased with classes and the improvement we've seen in comparison to a previous instructor. Steven B is punctual and extremely respectful of the time and money it takes to provide lessons. He can be counted on to be both friendly and professional. He comes prepared for lessons and expects the same of his students. If you are serious about learning and improving your skills, we highly recommend him.” - Christina, 5 Stars!
“My time in being instructed by Steven B on piano was a great, informative experience. Ever since the first lesson, he is a very good teacher that clearly knows what he is doing. Mr. B. taught me at my own pace, taking time to help me work on skills, especially small details that help me perform much better. He is a very skilled instructor, teaching me pieces from not only music books that he provides, but also the valuable skill of learning by ear, a skill few other teachers bother to touch on. Steven B has helped on a number of occasions with songs that I am learning on my own and fit time into our lessons to work on them. He is always willing to let the student work on what they like as well as what he gives out. When I once mentioned my liking for jazz, we soon started an in-depth series of lessons into the genre, teaching me much more than I ever knew prior to it. I’ve never felt pressured by my assignments and pieces to bring home, as Steven B knows everyone goes at their own pace and can take anytime from a few days to a few weeks to learn a song. My time with him was a very fun and informative time that I thoroughly enjoyed.” - Michael, 5 Stars!

A fun and engaging instructor. He obviously enjoys his job. The lesson was practical and easy to apply to a new song right away. Simple and clear lesson plans for practice between sessions.

Steven is an excellent instructor. After the first lesson, my vocal chords were tired but felt like I actually did something! He is extremely well-prepared, explains what he is trying to do, demonstrates the exercises and then offers feedback on your efforts. Top notch instructor!

Lessons on Broadway Singing will draw from Erik's experience as the music director of the National Tour of Cabaret, and faculty member at New York University's famed music theater program. Lessons can focus on a variety of areas including learning new material, preparing for auditions, refining performance, acting, and improving vocal technique.
Pianist, music director, and vocal coach, Erik was born and raised in Eastern Washington state. As a solo pianist, he has been heard all across the northwest and beyond, in cities including Seattle, Portland, Tacoma, NYC, Los Angeles, San Francisco, and Philadelphia, and internationally in Prague and Salzburg. Erik has been a guest artist at Whitman College, Portland State University, The Kairos Chamber Music Lyceum, California State University Summer Arts, the West Seattle Symphony, and the Gig-Harbor Peninsula Symphony Orchestra. In addition to performing, Erik’s passion for teaching has led him to be an adjudicator for various festivals including the Washington Sonata-Sonatina Festival and the Washington Regional Solo and Ensemble Festival.
Erik most recently served as the Music Director for the National Tour of Kander and Ebb's tim
eless musical Cabaret. This production was on tour from December 2017 through May 2018 all across North America. Broadway.com's review praised the musicianship of the show, "Musical director Erik Flaten's musicians are impressive in their dexterity: At one moment, they are providing rich interpretations of the memorable John Kander score, while perhaps at the next they are playing denizens of the Kit Kat Klub or neighborhood thugs, wastrels and other folks of questionable repute. Flaten and his band are given their own richly deserved moments in the spotlight at the top of Act Two and the music director himself is given the well-earned final bow at the end of the curtain call."
Erik currently resides in Philadelphia, where he coaches and plays for a diverse range of singers. In addition to coaching and playing, Erik works as Music Director for musical theater, manages a private studio, and serves as Artistic Director of the Media Performing Arts Series. Previous successes include performances with mezzo-soprano, Angela Niederloh and baritone, Matthew Hayward in Portland, and a performance of the Grieg piano concerto with the West Seattle Symphony. Upcoming engagements on the East Coast include collaborative work with with soprano, Leah Golub.
Students of Erik have the opportunities to perform in studio recitals and workshops.
I teach Broadway singing in a way that is fun, encouraging, and easy to understand. I will help you hone your skills and develop new ones. My knowledge of repertoire is vast.
I have been teaching private lessons since 2006 and have loved helping my students expand their vocal range, increase their repertoire, gain solid technique, and just enjoy singing. Each lesson will begin with a vocal warm-up focusing on breath, posture, and technique. We will then work on your music together incorporating what we learned in our warm ups. We will focus on everything from phrasing, to marking breaths, to understanding lyrics, utilizing dynamics, and staying true to the style of the music. Our lessons will be engaging, informative, and fun.
I want you to find your unique voice and help it to grow. I want to know what type of music you like and am happy to help provide you with new material ideas. My Broadway repertoire knowledge is expansive and I love finding songs that fit your personality and type. My background i
s primarily in musical theatre/Broadway which embraces all styles of music including classical, jazz, pop, rock, and country. I love teaching. I love learning new music and helping my students learn new music. I love watching my students make progress.
Below you will find a bit more about my education and performance background:
I have always had a passion for musical theatre and vocal performance. I began performing at the age of 5 and started studying voice at the age of 12. I attended the University of Southern California, Thornton School of Music, where I received a B.M. in Vocal Performance.
Upon completing my Bachelor’s degree, I received an M.M. in Musical Theatre from the Boston Conservatory. While in Boston, I had the unique opportunity to perform as a concert soloist with the Boston Pops conducted by Keith Lockhart on the same night that I sang the national anthem at Fenway Park.
Wanting to combine my joy for traveling with my love for performance, I studied acting at the British American Drama Academy in Oxford, England, musical theatre at NYU’s CAP 21, and opera at OperaWorks in California. I have performed in New York at Birdland and the Laurie Beechman Theatre, in California at Rockwell Table & Stage, and in New Hampshire with the Great Waters Music Festival and New Hampshire Dance Institute.
I traveled the world in the International Tour of CATS as Jennyanydots and the understudy for Grizabella. I have also performed in many regional theatres throughout the country. Some of my favorite credits include: The Marvelous Wonderettes, Light in the Piazza, Guys and Dolls, The Golden Apple, and The Full Monty.
Currently, I am on the faculty at AMDA College and Conservatory of the Performing Arts in Hollywood, CA where I teach Individual Voice lessons to college students.
Jen is fabulous with kids! She really helps my daughter get comfortable with her roles
May 28, 2018
Jennifer is a great teacher! So helpful and supportive, she has been a big part of my singing journey and I always have great lessons with her. Would highly recommend to anyone looking to progress there singing technique.
January 21, 2018
Jennifer is one of the best voice teachers I have ever had. She really takes time to make sure I understand everything she’s trying to show me and stays at that pace until I get it. She pushes me to keep working and find the right tricks that will help me remember each lesson. I feel so grateful to be one of her students and have felt the most confident in my voice when I got the chance to train with her. Thank you so much Jennifer. You all will not regret signing up with her because she is an absolute genius and one of the most fun and welcoming people to be around.

Since then she has have directed over forty plays in eight countries from Aberbeen, Scotland to San Antonio, Texas to London, England to Paris, France.

I have been a guest artist at Bowdoin College, Williams College and Harden-Simmons College.
I look forward to meeting you and helping you become a better artist!
It's an amazing feeling when you find someone who is a master at the craft and can teach it too!
Shauna's previous extensive theatre training and instruction is UNDENIABLE. Because of this, she brings much more to the table than the average acting coach.
She made me realize there's SO much more than just breaking down a scene and creating a character. She made me think about where the character is going physically as well as emotionally, and why. I continue to grow and improve with each lesson with her. I'm so lucky to have found Shauna, and strongly recommend her to all actors.
May 18, 2019
Shauna is an amazing teacher! With her tools and teaching techniques she guides you to the place where your voice is physically mentally and emotionally connected, able to work and produce results that every artist is seeking to accomplish-reaching the audience. She. Is kind, compassionate and makes you work hard all at the same time to get you to the place you need to be as an artist. Thank you Shauna! ♥️
May 17, 2019
Shauna is an absolutely incredible voice/acting teacher. She took the time to meet me where I was and encouraged me to be confident in the skills I already possessed. As a dancer, it is often scary to use your voice because it isn’t something we often exercise. Shauna helped me gain incredible knowledge in a new instrument. I was preparing for an important audition and with the tools she gave me I was able to have incredible success on a nearly impossible time constraint! I highly recommend Shauna for all levels :)
I am a certified Music Educator and have worked in International Schools for the past 6 years (with certificates etc; to prove it).
Right now I'm a professional opera singer and have sung in Sofia National Opera, State Opera Stara Zagora, Varna Opera as well as various smaller theaters in Italy, Germany & USA. (Hopefully more!)
I think the benefit of studying with me is that I have a very strong conception of vocal technique and I have the "teacherly" patience to explain things clearly and in different ways. Singing is an art from that a lot of people can do but not many can explain. It's a pet peeve of mine actually. Since singing is a natural thing, some people claim to be able to teach it and have no idea what they are talking about. A singer does not a teacher make.
If you are really serious about improving your singing, I may be the teacher for you. Opera requires a very strong understanding of singing technique (or else you will die!). This technique ...
I am the rare combination of a teacher AND a professional singer! I am suitable for people of all ages and levels. Please read below!
A the moment, I'm working abroad in Lebanon with an NGO helping to develop a Music Program for Palestinian Refugees. (July 2019) After that, I'll be singing Woglinde in Das Rheingold in Berlin with full orchestra (August 2019).
In September 2019 I'll make my debut in Varna Opera singing one of my signature roles, Nedda in i Pagliacci. Other upcoming roles include Lola in Cavalleria Rusticana and covering the title role in Tosca with North Wales Opera (September 2019).
I also recently made my Sofia National Opera debut (January-April 2019) in the modern chamber opera "Katze Ivanka" as the title role. I'm very busy singing lots of operatic repertoire in solo concerts as well as on t
he operatic stage.
I am in an interesting environment as I travel often and hear a lot of great voices around me. My environment is healthy but also competitive which forces me to be on my best game at all times.
I think my experience as an opera singer is valuable for a singer of any level or musical interest as singing this art form (opera) requires a strong grasp of technique. If you do not have technique, you will not survive. Operatic singing is not about blowing your vocal cords out, it is about economical singing-understanding how the vocal cords work, how to use breath support effectively (and there are different variants of breath support!) etc; If you are having vocal problems such as hoarseness, difficulty with top notes or pain-I think I am the one to help you. If you are a high school student wanting to shape up your singing, I think I can help you! If you are an amateur who loves to sing but have no idea how to make improvements, I can help you!
My confidence in my ability as a teacher is because I am a certified Music Educator who's worked in high level International Schools for the past 6 years. I have worked a lot with both adults and children extensively in professional settings. In my former job I was responsible for lot of concerts, theatrical productions and instrumental concerts.
If you have a child interested in doing lessons, I may be a great option. I have enthusiasm and in general students seem to really like working with me. In my former job I had high numbers of participation in all of the ensembles which was essentially due to the fact that students enjoyed working with me. I also conducted an adult choir for a few years when living in the Middle East.
Basically, if you pick me-you are getting a great bang for your buck. Singing is a tricky business. A lot of people "teach" singing but have no idea what they are talking about...since we can sing naturally, some people claim to know how to teach it.
With me, you get a professional, patient and experienced teacher and singer!
Mary was my first singing teacher and honestly, I could not have asked for anyone better. She taught me everything from the blindingly obvious basics of vocal technique to the more subtle nuances of history and context behind pieces. She also taught vocal technique in a very intuitive way, so that you always knew where the sound came from and how every slight change in posture or mouth shape affected the quality and character of sound.
Her singing lessons have been truly invaluable to me and are the reason I still actively sing today. Thanks to her that I was also able to get a singing scholarship at my uni.
August 28, 2019
Mary made my dream come true by preparing me for the title role in one of the world's favourite family musicals, the beloved "Jesus Christ Superstar!". Mary's incredible insight into the music and her natural ability to make people feel at ease meant I was rocking out those high notes in no time!
August 28, 2019
I’ve made incredible progress since starting lessons with Mary! I feel more confident and know that Mary can guide me well because of her on-stage experience!
Thank you and looking forward to continuing the lessons!
"My 12-year-old daughter just had our first lesson. She loved it. Mallory was able to create a great balance of fun and structure that worked for my daught
er. They seemed to "click," and the very first lesson ended with some assignments to be ready for the 2nd lesson next week."
"Very patient and easy to work with. Only one lesson so far but a very enjoyable experience!!"
"Mary Elizabeth really helped me with expression in my singing. I loved working with her in a Master Class and learned so much about technique and bringing
the placement of my voice more forward. She had great ideas to help me portray the character in my song. Her work with me helped me gain confidence in my recent audition to be a voice major in college where I was offered a full scholarship."
"She was fantastic I could immediately feel the results while learning from her"
"I could not be happier with my decision to take voice lessons with Ben! These past couple of months have been more beneficial to me than any of my previou
s experience with other teachers. I have already seen improvement in my voice and there is still so much I can learn. Ben works to improve the voice as a whole, rather than limiting it to one specific area. I would highly recommend him to those who are ready to put in the work necessary to get great results."
"I have Molly R. to thank for getting me out of my fear of singing. At first, I was so nervous that I couldn't even sing along to the radio with my friends
! I met her through a class with Boldly Me, and then ended up taking lessons with her to prepare for my first big audition with StarStruck (I know right? I love performing but I get shy about singing). Though I didn't get in, she had given me that boost of confidence and the arsenal of skills/tricks that I needed to keep trying. I worked with her again to audition for Stage1's "Seussical"- and got in as the "lead Wickersham"!! Molly has helped me with so much; she teaches you beyond what you could expect of yourself and guides you to your fullest potential.. all while keeping it fun and comfortable!! Molly doesn't just help you learn how to sing, she helps you learn to love to sing."
Awesome teacher. She really helps me improve my singing by being supportive and knowing her stuff. She has helped my confidence in singing. Woul
dn't go to another singing teacher. 100% recommend"
"Michelle is energetic, professional, insightful, patient and best of all, makes it fun to learn, while keeping me focused and on track with my singing goa
ls. After one lesson, she was able to hook me back into using proper breath control and creating fuller sounds. I took my first singing lesson over 40 years ago, so I'm very acquainted with different techniques and styles of teaching, and can say that Michelle is as good as they get:)"
"Cathy is beyond brilliant! She is SO supportive, positive and professional. You can check out her resume which is truly amazing. She has sung for numerous
presidents! And so much more! I feel so lucky to be working with such a talent who wants to share her vast knowledge."
