played bass in jazz band for about 2 years, also have worked as a part time studio bassist

About Kory
*Edit: I am flexible to teaching younger students (no younger then 10) but the lessons must be in person at my studio, or at your home. No online lessons

Hi, my name is Kory, and I am currently an under graduate at Cal Poly Pomona studying Music and Business.

I have been playing guitar for over 10 years, and have taught guitar to dozens of students over the last 4-5 years. I also study recording and production, and have played in Cal Poly's Jazz Combo, Vocal Jazz Ensemble, and Concert Choir (For more specific info, you can check out the "experience" section of my page).

In addition,
I song-write and record music with my band, "Search For Delicious," a group of close friends from High School. You can check us out on Facebook and Bandcamp, and in the videos below.

My personal philosophy to teaching is that every student is a unique individual. I always start by connecting with the student, and figuring out what interests/goals they have in mind. Then I craft a lesson plan that will help them achieve their goals, and work with their strengths and weaknesses. I practice patience and friendliness, and always do my best to inspire, motivate, and teach hard work/perseverance.

Teaching and music are both passions that I put my all into. I have experience teaching many individuals of a wide range of ages, sexes, backgrounds, and musical experience, and I can guarantee, whether you're a beginner, or a very experienced player, you will see results

*** Travel Equipment ***
I can provide an acoustic guitar, picks, a chord, an amp. I expect the student to have either an acoustic or electric guitar to be able to practice with, but if they don't I can cover him/her.

*** Specialties ***
Acoustic Guitar, Electric Guitar, Singing, Songwriting, Recording, Music Theory, Ear Training

Genres: Indie, Alternative, Pop, Punk, Acoustic, Rock, Surf, Metal, Jazz, Electronic, Psychedelic

If you want to learn the basics of electric bass technique and get into playing written lines and/or improvise over a variety of styles, you've come to the right place! I have been playing electric bass for over a decade, specializing in jazz and R&B. Whether you'd like to improve your skills or start from scratch, I'll be able to help you feel comfortable moving around the instrument! I look forward to the possibility of working with you or your child, thank you!

About Liana
My name is Liana, and I am a freelance double bassist, music instructor, and music administrator. I have been playing music for nearly my entire life, starting on piano at the age of five and moving on to learn other instruments as the years progressed. I have performed with various orchestras, chamber groups, musical theater pit ensembles, jazz big bands and combos, on studio recording sessions, and more.

I have collaborated with artists such as John Clayton; Wayne Wallace; Mic Gillette and Lenny Williams (of "Tower of Power"; and many more. I have also performed at the Monterey Jazz Festi
val, the Montreaux Jazz Festival, the San Francisco War Memorial Opera House, the Valley Performing Arts Center, on the Battleship USS Iowa, and at Yoshi's Jazz Club in Oakland, CA.

I have served as principal bassist with the CSUN Symphony and the Dragon Singers Orchestra, and as substitute principal bassist of the Westlake Village Symphony. I have also performed as a member of the CSUN Jazz "C" Band on double bass; the Jazzschool Studio Band on double bass; Tenth Muse on double bass, vocals, and ukulele; as a founding member of the band Polyhymnia on electric bass; and on ukulele with the band Noble Creatures.

I grew up in the San Francisco Bay Area, where I studied under Pat Klobas. My further studies continued in Los Angeles under Oscar Meza and Gary Pratt. I received my B.A. in Music Breadth Studies from California State University, Northridge in 2016.

All lessons are incredibly flexible and are tailored to each student's needs, abilities, and goals! If you have a book you've already been working from and want to continue with, great! If you don't like working from a book at all, also great! I am by no means strict, but together we will work hard to you craft your technique to maximize your potential!

I look forward to the possibility of meeting and working with you!

Brian is great. I could not have asked for a better teacher. He had me up and running on Pro Tools after the first lesson, and I am a true beginner. He is so incredibly well versed on the entire recording process, and excellent in breaking down difficult topics into layman terms. I give Brian my highest recommendation.
