*** Lesson Details *** I encourage my students to pursue all types of music. I like to use “method books” to help with reading and music theory no matter which instrument they choose. I always use supplemental materials that follow the student’s interests and level. I often use technology in lessons to motivate and help students grow. For example, I use many apps for theory, note reading, and rhythm training.
A cancellation 24hrs in advance is always appreciated.
Matt taught me for a 3 month period and helped me drastically with learning how to improvise guitar solos. I can't thank Matt enough for his help in helping me with a rather unorthodox time to start getting lessons. Each week he told me to bring 3 songs with a guitar solo I would like to learn in different genres and each week we broke down the solos for me to practice and gather their techniques. Thank you so much Matt!

I have played the piano in my younger years, and not playing it for a long time made me forget on how to read music sheets. It actually made me forget how awesome and fun it is to play the piano. And after a while, I decided I needed to get back on track. So, I checked out the list of instructors close to my home, and I found Andy. And yes, I made the right decision! HE IS THE BEST!!! I was so happy having him to teach and help me read music sheets and to play the piano again. He is funny and awesome! He makes it fun and easy for me to understand the lesson! He gives you pointers and he knows how to boost my self-esteem! I love the claps! <clap clap clap>. I cannot wait to do a gazillion more lessons with him! If you want to learn and have fun learning the piano, he is the one for you! Cheers to Andy! :)
Experienced concert pianist, teacher, and music director available for eager students of all experience levels and ages! Classical piano is my greatest passion. I enjoy teaching in all levels, and my work experience has included working with special needs children and teaching adults while an Adjunct Faculty member at New York University’s Steinhardt School. All students have the opportunity to perform in two annual studio recitals for free. Lessons are catered to maximizing the students interests, passions, and strengths. Simply put, my goal is to help each student become the best musician they can be.
Pianist, music director, and vocal coach, Erik was born and raised in Eastern Washington state. As a solo pianist, he has been heard all across the northwest and beyond, in cities including Seattle, Portland, Tacoma, NYC, Los Angeles, San Francisco, and Philadelphia, and internationally in Prague and Salzburg. Erik has been a guest artist at Whitman College, Portland State University, The Kairos Chamber Music Lyceum, California State University Summer Arts, the West Seattle Symphony, and the Gig-Harbor Peninsula Symphony Orchestra. In addition to performing, Erik’s passion for teaching has led him to be an adjudicator for various festivals including the Washington Sonata-Sonatina Festival and the Washington Regional Solo and Ensemble Festival.
Erik most recently served as the Music Director for the National Tour of Kander and Ebb's tim
eless musical Cabaret. This production was on tour from December 2017 through May 2018 all across North America. Broadway.com's review praised the musicianship of the show, "Musical director Erik Flaten's musicians are impressive in their dexterity: At one moment, they are providing rich interpretations of the memorable John Kander score, while perhaps at the next they are playing denizens of the Kit Kat Klub or neighborhood thugs, wastrels and other folks of questionable repute. Flaten and his band are given their own richly deserved moments in the spotlight at the top of Act Two and the music director himself is given the well-earned final bow at the end of the curtain call."
Erik currently resides in Philadelphia, where he coaches and plays for a diverse range of singers. In addition to coaching and playing, Erik works as Music Director for musical theater, manages a private studio, and serves as Artistic Director of the Media Performing Arts Series. Previous successes include performances with mezzo-soprano, Angela Niederloh and baritone, Matthew Hayward in Portland, and a performance of the Grieg piano concerto with the West Seattle Symphony. Upcoming engagements on the East Coast include collaborative work with with soprano, Leah Golub.
Students of Erik have the opportunities to perform in studio recitals and workshops.
Students will learn techniques and skills essential to playing piano as well as improve their musicality in various classical styles.
As a piano and voice instructor, I have taught individual lessons for the past 13 years to students from 5 to 85, beginners to advanced students. I hold Master of Fine Arts degrees in both Collaborative Piano Performance and Vocal Performance from Notre Dame de Namur University. In addition to my private students, I am the vocal coach and accompanist for the Sacramento City College Music Department, Choral Academy Coordinator and accompanist for the Sacramento Children's Chorus, and accompanist for Light Opera Theatre of Sacramento. I also am co-founder and artistic director of the Empire Arts Collective Pop Choir.
Lessons are taught at the Sacramento Preparatory Music Academy. Please note that while piano lessons are offered for students as young as 5, voice lessons are not offered until students are at least 13.
Learning piano from me is an opportunity for you to explore a variety of styles through the use of modern technology and flexible curriculum, tailored to your interests and goals. You are expected to develop technical skills, music theory knowledge, and performance excellence.
I am an eclectic pianist-singer with dual Bachelor of Music degrees in Performance and Jazz Studies from Shenandoah Conservatory. My skills are diverse and I enjoy using them as I teach at any level. Other than teaching, I compete in voice and piano competitions, perform as a soloist and accompanist, arrange, and compose. I also play in a funk band called Souled Out, stationed in Winchester, VA. My passion is in classical and jazz music, as well as musical theatre, but I teach all contemporary styles.
I teach in my lessons: repertoire (classical, pop, rock, blues, etc), music theory, sight reading, and ear training. Lessons are one hour long Monday through Friday, NOT Saturday and Sunday. Beginners, intermediate, and advanced are welcome. I am willing to do music theory lessons via skype, not piano lessons though.
I am a professional classically trained pianist with a Bachelors degree in music from California State University of Sacramento. I have studied classical piano for 20 years and have been teaching for 10 years. I am also involved with other musical projects, such as playing in rock bands across California or doing session work. I am currently endorsed by Kurzweil Music Systems and Dave Smith Instruments.
I teach piano students of all levels from age 5 and up. I can teach students to read music and pursue classical excellence (that would include technique/exercises), to learn how to play contemporary music using chord sheets, or both depending on student preference. Some of the musical styles I regularly teach include: Classical, Pop, Rock, Hard Rock, Alternative, and Blues. Though playing popular music is fun, I find that learning tec
hnique is essential to improve the ability of playing and also learning music theory gives a well rounded experience to all students playing music. I look forward to meeting you and giving you fun-filled and informative lessons! Skylar T.

About Aysen Idil
Hi, I'm Idil. I’ve just received my master degree in Voice program from Mannes School of Music. I'm extremely interested in working with you! Shortly after my graduation from undergraduate studies, I started my professional career. I have been engaged with Turkish State Opera House as a permanent opera singer for seven years. In this role, I had the opportunity to perform leading roles with well-known orchestras, conductors and opera companies. It helped me to develop a professional attitude, discover leading research in opera at a younger age, develop good communication skills, musical discipline and responsibility at a young age. During this time, parallel to my professional duties, I assisted my voice teacher, who is a prima soloist in Turkish State Opera House, and had a chance to work with the students who provided me a chance to d
evelop my teaching skills to a wide variety of students. After the professional experience, I had a desire to further improve my music skills in the academic world. This led me studying and getting my master’s degree and complement my professional experience with academic research. The experiences I had has been invaluable. Teacher position requires ability to teach and communicate effectively, develop continuously and be responsible and disciplined with the tasks at hand. I believe my professional and academic experience have prepared me well in all of these areas.
While I was a young student, I always wanted to work with successful and well-equipped teachers who had significant and relevant hands-on experience. I believe, my experience and background prepared me to be one of those teachers who can help younger generation to build the skills necessary and grow in their area of study. This is what excites me the most about teaching.

"Fawn has a great way of explaining things that keep the process simple, yet effective. I had two other piano instructors before I started taking lessons f
rom Fawn, and neither were nearly as good. Fawn is the only piano teacher I've had that kept the whole learning process fun. I was able to learn a lot from her in such a short period of time. She makes the process enjoyable and addresses blocks and helps you break through them. Because of her, I'm playing at a super high level now. Every once in awhile I will call her to come in for help on an issue right before a performance. I would definitely recommend contacting her and setting up an appointment!"

"I enjoyed Professor Yoon Jae's lessons fully. As an amateur pianist, I was able to study under Yoon Jae privately for a semester and learn things I wished
to learn about. Yoon Jae understands how to teach and tutor to his students needs which varies among musicians at all levels. I believe his knowledge and experience can greatly benefit those who wish to continue learning a musical instrument as a hobby as well as for those studying musical performance."
"Max is my favorite private teacher I have ever had since I started learning piano couple years ago. He is a very talented and positive person who has been
encouraging me to play the way I am. He believes the best way to be good at playing piano is to enjoy it and trust yourself that going for what you feel like it is about in the piece. Recently, we had tight lessons to prepare my coming aidition for Brookly College’s music program. I really appriciated all the help and support from Max. He is always making sure that he covers the lesson that he wants to go over with that day. I just passed my audition two days ago and got into the program I wanted to. I can’t thank him enough for all the guidence from his class. Max is a very good instrutor that coaches his students to have more passion and belifs in the music field. I love the way he teaches and really appreciated my boyfriend who helped me found such a great teacher!"
