Song assistance, melody and lyric training. audition help, pop vocal training, character singing, performance coaching

About Teri
I teach students of all ages in a relaxed, encouraging, and fun way- but with the structure many beginners need to reach their goals and with the background of a professional singer! Students will see themselves making progress and reaching set goals! This encourages them to continue on their musical journey - becoming the very best they can be! We will also learn fun popular songs and look for opportunities to sing them. We will also learn many styles of pop singing as well -- from pop to rock to R&B to country & more! From beginners and just-for-fun singers to singer/songwriters to pros, each student will be able to learn the skills they need to sing from their heart and find their own true voice.

Teri has taught voice for over 15 years to all ages and all levels, led and trained various bands and groups for over 17 years. Named a
s a Top Vocal Coach by Backstage Magazine 2015, she is a club hit recording artist and premier LA vocal coach. Her vocals have graced full length CD's, cuts on various records, performances on TV and radio, and gained her a nomination for Best Female Vocalist, All Access Music Awards. She is the author of Vocal Essentials for the Pop Singer: Take Your Singing from Good to Great, from Hal Leonard Publishing. Teri has a Master's Degree in Education and a Bachelors Degree in Speech Pathology. She studied music at Blue Bear School of Music in San Francisco including music theory, vocal technique and vocal performance, guitar and stage performance. She had a dance club hit in the 90's which garnered success on mix shows and dance charts across the country.

She specializes in getting the best out of her students -- giving them a solid vocal technique to let their natural ability shine. Her students will attest to her positive, relaxed and encouraging teaching style.

In addition to learning the basics, Teri can help students get their voice in shape for events, school projects/plays, auditions (American Idol etc...), a solo or band project, and more!

Teri offers flexibility with scheduling to accommodate students various needs including day/eves and weekends. Studio is in a convenient Westside LA location.

*** Lesson Details ***
Students can expect a fun lesson with vocal warm-up exercises, and lots of singing, in a supportive environment. Teri works out of her home studio and online. so students can work with microphones and instruments.

Children
Voice lessons build confidence and enthusiasm, and help prepare children for performing in front of others. Singing at a young age develops vocal abilities, but more importantly develops a child's aural abilities (recognizing melodies, harmonies, etc.) as well as the ability to focus, take direction and be creative.

Performing / Recording / Vocal Health
Recording. performing and touring presents unique challenges to singers. By concentrating on breathing, vocal production and tension reduction, warm-up exercises, and range building exercises, these lessons help increase stamina, build vocal tone, and reduce the effects of vocal fatigue for those who sing long hours at a time.

Church / Worship Leading
Singing on praise/worship teams is an art form all of it's own. Lessons centered around this kind of singing focus on the areas of blending, tone, hearing harmonies, and keeping your part in a group. For the soloist / worship leader, lessons help in the areas of projection, tone, range, runs, and breathing.

*** Studio Equipment ***
I have recording equipment and microphones, piano, guitar.

*** Specialties ***

Learn to sing with ease and be audition ready and confident!

About Carol
I have taught voice for over twenty years. I studied music at University of California, Santa Barbara, where I received my B.A. I currently work as a professional singer for various local opera companies, music theater groups, churches and temples. I am principal soprano for Opera A La Carte and have also soloed with Repertory Opera Company, Redlands Bowl Festival, Laguna Beach Chorale and Celestial Opera Company. I have worked extensively in Los Angeles schools performing musical assemblies for students in elementary and middle grades through Southland Opera, LA Opera and Guild Opera of Southern California. My teaching experience includes private voice lessons and master classes at Idyllwild School for the Arts.

*** Lesson Details ***
I emphasize breathing techniques to free up the voice to expand your range and ease of singing. In
the lesson, we start with simple warm ups and vocalizes and then apply techniques to the songs you want to sing. I realize each student is different and I customize the lesson to the student's particular needs. I specialize in classical and music theater, however the basics of singing apply to all styles of music. In addition to working on breathing and technique for singing, we'll also focus on interpretation of the songs you are working on as well as how to overcome performance nervousness. Most students find that they are able to sing with more freedom, less tension and will have more confidence as they progress.

I also teach beginning piano, using the John W. Schaum series.

*** Studio Equipment ***
Lessons in the main room, upright piano

*** Travel Equipment ***
They need to provide a piano or keyboard if I am going to their home.
I have a piano in my home.

*** Specialties ***
I work on using the breath as a fundamental technique for singing. Singing should never hurt. I use a lot of imagery to achieve freedom in singing.

Having performed in musical In musical theater professionally and having a son who has had principal roles in Broadway musicals for 22 years, I am well aware of all the elements necessary to develop and produce a voice for Broadway singing. I was trained as a classical and opera singer, which gave me the ability to project my voice while dancing and moving on stage. I work with students to develop good breath control with diaphragmatic breathing. I encourage the learning of sight reading . . . especially valuable When auditioning.

About Patricia
As a child I watched from the doorway as my older sister took her piano lessons. From that experience I taught myself to play the piano. My formal training came in college where I received my BA in Applied Music in piano and voice. I studied classical music and opera from a visiting professor from Peabody Conservatory, Baltimore MD. I graduated with honors and gave my Town Hall performance in the Spring of my Senior year. I had a passionate desire to be involved in music, to hear it and to perform it. I spent several years singing with the San Diego Opera Company, performing lead roles in Musical Theater and soloing in concerts from Monterrey to San Diego, CA. While still a student in college, I taught piano to children from the local community, so I have accumulated decades of teaching experience. Nothing brings me greater pleasure than
to see individuals "blossom" into their creative selves. Whether it is for a student's own enjoyment, audition preparation, recital performance or ongoing piano or voice development, I am committed to engaging you in an experience of learning and fun. It may be the biggest thrill of your lifetime!

*** Lesson Details ***
I love to have fun. For me, learning is a great source of fun. My goal is to make the process of your learning music fun while effective. I do have high standards for participation. I do not ask anything of you that I haven't done myself. I know, from many years of experience in performing and teaching, what it takes to make progress in a learning curve, Are you excited? Are you dedicated? Are you willing to jump in and get busy? I will give you the foundation of theory and technique to support your performance. I will expand your understanding and appreciation for music in its many styles and formats. No every other week or schedule as you go lessons, please.

*** Studio Equipment ***
Living room - Steinway piano, cathedral ceilings ... good acoustics.

*** Travel Equipment ***
Must have piano or quality keyboard. I definitely prefer piano.

*** Specialties ***
I was trained classically in both piano and voice, but spent many years in musical theater and singing in supper clubs, as well. I am capable of teaching most styles of piano and voice except rock and rap.

i recently came out of an audition and I sang my musical pieces better than I've ever done them before! The auditioner sat me down at the end and said he loves my voice. He said, based on how much he liked my pieces and how well I did that he would like to extend an early invitation for callbacks for the program! I really have Patricia to thank for that. She has helped me improve my voice by leaps and bounds in the time that i have been working with her and its amazing to get such immediate and rewarding results. I CAN NOT THANK PATRICIA ENOUGH! SHE COULD NOT HAVE PREPARED ME ANY BETTER AND IM SO GRATEFUL THAT I GET TO WORK WITH HER!!

She is great! It will be my 5th lesson with her tomorrow, but she has already gave me confidence in singing (at least I can get my voice out more than before without shame), being patient with me, very informative, and gives great advises.
I originally took her lesson because I had an audition for Christmas Carol, and I wanted to at least go over the song I was going to use. Instead, she gave me another song to sing for the audition. I have never been able to get in a show where singing is the main dish; however, after her advise with the new song, I was thrilled to see an email from the casting director when I was chosen to be in the show! I can never thank enough her for this. :D

I have been wanting to play an instrument for such a long time, but never had the motivation to try it, until recently. Wanting to play Piano was a spur of the moment decision for me. I googled piano teachers in my area and Corinne was one of the first people to pop up. After reading all her rave reviews, I decided to give it a go. I was so nervous for my first lesson, but she made me feel comfortable and at ease the minute I walked through the door. She is educated and passionate about music. Also, she is extremely patient. I have been going to her for Piano Lessons now once a week for almost 6 months and I couldn't be happier with my decision. I absolutely, without a doubt, recommend Corinne. She's amazing!

Let's get you prepped for that audition or ready to kill it at karaoke next weekend! I have been singing, acting, and playing music (violin, viola) for over 18 years. My teaching technique focuses on musicality with an emphasis on healthy and safe vocal training. I have a degree in Theatre, so students have the option of working on character and acting moments with me. I'm able to teach music notation and additional music theory for those who want it, and I provide a safe space for both beginning and intermediate students who want to further themselves and take their voices higher!

About Leota
I'm a working actor, singer, and teacher in Los Angeles. I have a bachelor's degree in Theater from The University of California, Irvine, with an emphasis in Musical Theater.

While film is the focus in the city of angels, my passion for musical theater is still alive! I've performed in theater and musical theater shows across the globe, including Los Angeles, New York, San Francisco, and the Edinburgh Fringe Festival in Scotland. I have also trained in music improv at UCB in Los Angeles.

No matter the level, I can teach any student to be more expressive and comfortable with their voice. Each week we will work on techniques to improve voice placement, as well as proper breathing so you don't hurt your voice even when you're sick! Whether you want to improve your high range into the classical soprano or coloratura or find
your big belt, I will get you there in a healthy and safe way! (Don't worry Gentlemen, I can get you to sing high too!).

I work with students of all ages, backgrounds and levels. Many of my students are actors with no vocal background, and some of my students are classical or operatic singers who want to work on acting and expressing themselves musically for a better overall performance. Whatever your goals are, we will accomplish them!

Leota knows the tricks to enhance your vocal technique to it's fullest...less than a minute into our first session she was already making me sound better, and it went on from there. She has a grounded honest professional approach to voice coaching, and can help you achieve both classical and modern sounds. She will find different ways of explaining what to go for if you are having trouble picking up a concept. Tamara is the best! She's an amazing singer and is veeery good at teaching how it's done. She's also very sweet, respectful, easy-going, and fun, so her lessons are full of learning, while you also feel like you're making a new friend. I strongly recommend Tamara for anything that has to do with singing and teaching!

Classical vocal technique with a contemporary application. A solid classical vocal foundation crosses over into any style of music you wish to sing. I am a classically trained opera singer (UCLA: BA Vocal Performance, Graduate Studies: École Normale de Musique de Paris) who performs in both classical (opera and choral) and non-classical musical settings (musical theater, jazz, and pop).

About Taj
Hello! My name is Taj Jegaraj, and I am a classically trained singer and voice teacher based in Los Angeles. I received my BA in Vocal Performance from UCLA in 2014 while studying under internationally renowned opera star, Vladimir Chernov. I continued my graduate studies at École Normale de Musique de Paris under Maestro Chernov's wife and personal voice teacher, Olga Toporkova.

I believe in establishing a solid technical foundation based in classical singing technique. The technique I teach comes from the Russian school of Bel Canto (beautiful singing in Italian). From gaining control of your voice through breath control and precise vocal placement, anything is possible! A solid technical foundation will assure the longevity of your voice and its application crosses over into any genre of music you sing.

As a singer, I have perf
ormed in a wide variety of contexts ranging from opera, choral, musical theater, jazz, and rock/pop. I have over 15 years of experience performing, and over 4 years of experience teaching voice. My diverse array of artistic experiences allows me to be flexible and sensitive to the specific needs of my students.

Singing is ultimately a form of artistic expression and release. The end goal of all the technical training is to create an artistic moment for both you and the audience. When you begin the journey of discovering your own unique voice, you will also begin a deeper journey with yourself. Singing has brought me so much joy in my own life and I look forward to sharing that joy with you!

Having studied under Taj for the past year I have found a significant improvement in the size and strength of my voice. He focuses on the essentials of the voice and is great at figuring out how my voice works best and he then creates exercises tailored specifically to me. I never feel vocally tired after lessons because he properly warms me up and keeps me from pushing my voice.

He is also an incredible coach in languages. His strongest are German and French, but his Italian is not far behind.

I feel like I can bring any style of music to Taj and he has the knowledge and musicality to coach me on it. I am focused in opera, but I love to sing Broadway as well. Many of our lessons start with opera repertoire, but then if we have time at the end we break out the musical rep.
