I have been teaching piano for over 25 years. Each student is unique; so I customize the lessons and repertoire to suit each student, utilizing method books and/or different styles of music depending on the student's interest. I always include music theory, note comprehension, rhythm and practice tips. With Classical piano, more emphasis is placed on scales and finger strengthening exercises with Hanon.
I am an experienced, enthusiastic music instructor, who started playing piano around 8 years of age and participated in many musical activities. I received my Bachelor of Music Education from the University of Massachusetts, majoring in Music Education (voice and piano). I have appeared around the world as a soloist singing jazz and pop, including the Blue Note, NYC, and appeared as a guest soloist at the 2000 Southern California Summer Special Olympics. I also participated in ensemble groups such as the Masterworks Chorale in NYC, and the Verdi Opera Chorus of Southern California; and currently I volunteer at the Senior Center leading/accompanying the Sing-Alongs.
Inspired by my love of music, I have been teaching piano and voice for over 25 years from NY to LA and now Orange County. In conjunction with my teaching skills, I have
excellent communication skills, patience and enthusiasm, and work well with children and all ages. I feel that music is an important part of education, and it aids in the development of cognitive and motor skills. And most of all, it is fun and rewarding, and a skill to last a lifetime!
She’s amazing and stern some people need that and I’m one of them. I will be happy to be guided by her as long as I’m in California.

Amber was very knowledgeable. I took some free Youtube tutorials lessons but was not able to tell if I did everything correctly. Amber pointed out when I blew out too much air and showed me how to do it right. I look forward to have more lessons with her.

Classical music is my life passion and I am happy to introduce to my students the best of its piano compositions in styles from Baroque to contemporary. On the example of the chosen repertoire, we learn to define, compare and analyze the structure, harmony, theory and interpretation of classical compositions. Understanding of what was beyond the notes helps my students to discover the world of classical piano in the full aspect. Under my guidence you will be excited to learn to play more classical music than you ever did!
I am an experienced classical pianist with honorable degrees obtained from the most prestigious musical institutions in the world - State Academy of Music (Russian conservatory of music) located in Minsk, Belarus, as well as The College of Saint-Rose, Albany, New York, Unites States. I really enjoy working with highly motivated students and welcome various ages and levels. I have worked both with professional musicians and beginner level music enthusiasts. As a teacher and piano soloist, I have worked in various countries including Russia, Italy, France and the United States. My international teaching experience has been showing wonderful results, and I am proud of my students winning the highest p
laces in the international auditions, competitions and festivals worldwide.
My thoroughly developed teaching method is built on the best combination of Russian and European traditions in music education, and it is intended to build and advance skills in reading, technique, theory, to enrich music appreciation by exploring compositions of variety of styles and genres, to discover the internal abilities and approach to an instrument, and master performing techniques.
Polina is so knowledgeable and informative. We jumped right in and she gave me great feedback on a piece I’ve been working on for a while. She is very motivational and I am excited to continue to work with her and improve my technique and ability.

Polina has been teaching my daughter for a year now and she is just amazing!!! I have also taken vocal lessons from Polina. I can't say enough about how wonderful and helpful she is. She has an impressive background in piano and voice and is a phenomenal teacher. She has a way of getting across exactly what she needs you to do. She is, also, one of the nicest people you will ever meet. We both highly recommend her.
Whether a beginner or an advanced student, I can help guide you through the keys and help you get on your way to becoming a up and running pianist! Been playing for about 11 years and teaching for 4 and I enjoy what I do.

Wonderful teacher, very patient with new comers, and has an awesome sense of humour ! I learnt so much from how to read and play as well as techniques of how to practise on my own. You will not be disappointed at all :) !
Students will learn techniques and skills essential to playing piano as well as improve their musicality in various classical styles.

I am committed to working hard for my students and remaining responsive to their musical tastes and interests. I also work to find out what learning style and senses my students learn most easily with (visual, kinesthetic, auditory etc.) and adapt my teaching plan to meet the individual needs of each student. I am passionate about figuring out the individual learning style of each of my students and enjoy being a part of their musical progress and journey, helping them to find their confidence to express musically and bring out their innate musicality.
I'm also highly interested ...
Just a few words to introduce my experience, approach and my work ethic .

In teaching piano, I teach rigorous foundational piano technique from the beginning, along with general musicianship. I like to incorporate teaching of general musical concepts, while encouraging creativity and imagination with the younger pupils that I teach. I also incorporate adaptations of popular music that children like to hear and play and try to stay responsive to the musical tastes of the student- while maintaining high standards in technique from beginners to advanced. I also address postural awareness and incorporate elements of the alexander technique into my teaching.
For those interested in singing lessons, I will first and foremost find out what kind of sound you personally wish to produce. Styles vary greatly across different genres. I will then help to diagnose your voice type and what difficulties you may be encountering and which may be preventing you from creating the sound you are aiming for.
I then show you ways in which the voice can be strengthened and balanced across the whole range and help my students achieve a healthy mix of head and chest resonance. This is achieved through exercises and vocal cues, enabling you to recognize the sensations that lead to good use of the voice.
My credentials: - Alexander Technique Training- current. - BA Music degree, Middlesex University, June 2004. I wanted to find someone to teach me classical piano technique. That would be 'serious' technique. I count myself as fortunate to have gotten Roxanna as an instructor. I feel that I am being properly guided by someone who has to have had breadth of experience to know and anticipate what things should be taught in what order. My mom is a life long amateur pianist and she agrees that I have found a great teacher !

Our three children (ages 5, 6, 8) were Piano students of Ms. Roxy. We were saddened when Ms. Roxy had to move away.
Roxy is an EXCELLENT teacher. She is patient with the kids. She is very professional in setting and holding reasonable expectations for the kids. Her teaching approach is holistic, providing a deep sense of appreciation for music. The kids love her and you will too!
I believe that students should be given an opportunity to be shown how to practice. This is so that when the instructor is not there to guide, the student is able to know step-by-step of what they are supposed to do. Practice sessions should include scales, etudes, and solo repertoire. I will include individualized videos for weekly emails for each lesson with how to break down and practice the scale, section, or piece.

Specialty in beginning and intermediate piano students of all ages. With nearly 10 years of experience, I provide a specific curriculum for training in piano with an emphasis on proper technique to ensure quick, steady, and measurable improvement in my student’s piano playing ability. That said, each lesson is tailored to the needs of each student. Learning piano and music theory should be enjoyable; I teach it that way. We will also work on sight reading and performance prep!
I believe that music is the universal language and when learned properly and with care, it provides an important outlet for many students to more fully express themselves.
I have studied and performed piano and voice most of my life, and am currently studying. I have derived much enjoyment and gratification through those channels. My greatest joy, however, comes from teaching and being part of my students’ growth in their skill level and observing the expansion of their confidence through the ...
I have had a career of playing piano and singing professionally for more than 15 years. I earned my Bachelor of Arts degree in Music from San Jose State University having had the distinction of studying voice with the late, great Irene Dalis, mezzo soprano.
I travel to your home to teach piano to students of all ages and abilities specializing in the beginning and intermediate levels. I studied piano for 13 years, 7 of which concentrated in classical, and 6 years in pop stylings. I teach students to read music classically, and also to read and write lead sheets, i.e., chord sheets. I have a specific curriculum that I follow with an emphasis on proper technique. Mostly, I want my students to experience the joy that playing piano brings, and the confidence it builds in your everyday life.

I've had the pleasure to know Diego not just as a teacher, but also as a collaborator, composer, and performer. He's one of the most professional, brilliant musical thinkers I've ever met, and is great at pushing students to understand the piano better as an instrument - musicality is always the top priority in Diego's teaching.

"I was, initially, unsure whether I had made the right decision in using TakeLessons to revive my piano-playing skills, but after meeting Steven, I have no
doubts that it was one of the best decisions I have yet to make.
Steven is wonderful! He is inspired and inspiring, encouraging, and his passion inspires passion - I could not have asked for better! Steven is an absolute pleasure, and I would absolutely recommend him to anyone!"
"Troy is a really patient instructor. I started these lessons as an adult with no prior musical training. I am enjoying the lessons and despite the fact th
at I never quite have enough time to practice as I should, sometimes even only having the lesson time with him, I still feel I made some progress. I also enjoy the discussions we have on music theory. I am trained as a scientist and when I read theory I have parse it through my own way of thinking about things. I find that Troy is a really good teacher and able to communicate in a manner that is easy to understand. I highly recommend him!"
"Tamari is very passionate, patient and kind. Highly recommend!"
