Playing Cello is challenging and the enjoyment is extreme. That's why many people are ready to go through this tough way in hope of being able to master this magic instrument. I have played Cello for 20 years and I cannot imagine to live without this instrument. In this course I'll try to help you to go through an academic way of playing and ease the learning of the instrument. I'll use different books in this course. We'll play scales, arpeggios and lots of small pieces out of different resources. You may be able to learn many instruments on your own, but Cello is absolutely not one of them.

Mr. Nader is an excellent instructor who always puts his students first. He customizes his lessons in accordance to each individual and patiently works with them so that they may achieve their optimum potential.

More than just a passive teacher of the violin, Mr. Nader dedicates his time and energy as a full time instructor of violin, cello, and music theory. Furthermore, Mr. Nader exhibits a level of knowledge, intellect, understanding, and culture rarely seen in the world today. When one walks into his music room, one will be struck with awe at not only the amount of books in Mr. Nader's library collection, but also the wide variety of subjects ranging from Music, Music History, Biographies, Psychology, Sociology, Philosophy, and many more. However, do not think that these books are just for display. Quite the contrary, one short conversation with Mr. Nader will show that he is well versed in all these subjects; a modern incarnation of the Renaissance polymath. Building off of his broad knowledge base, Mr. Nader not only teaches one how to play an instrument, he also teaches one how to cultivate oneself in Music and the culture from which it originates.

With a passion for Music and a yearn to pass on higher culture to the avid learner, Mr. Nader is the best instructor for all those who wish to learn Music along with its connection to the history, society, and culture from which it springs.

Kristen has been a truly fantastic cello teacher to my daughter (14) for over 3 years!
Her lessons are truly engaging and productive and she can communicate the information in a way that is easy to understand. She so very patient and encouraging while also inspiring excellence in her students. She keeps the lessons fun and interesting by spending some time each week on playing duets, sight-reading and learning a variety of musical styles. Her own incredible musical talent is an inspiration and her enthusiasm is contagious!

Hi there! I'm Jorge Maresch, a bay area freelance cellist and music coach. My specialty is in chamber music; an intimate setting of musicians. I earned my BM and MM from the San Francisco Conservatory of Music, have been teaching the art of cello for people from all walks of life for over 10 years.
I can't wait to teach you the wonders of learning and playing music. My teaching methods are always modified for the individual's body, and I encourage self exploration of the body and mind to achieve musical goals. Through self love of the body, we find and acknowledge the limits, and then find ways to overcome technique. As a seasoned teacher and performer on modern and baroque cello, I'm here to help you take the next step in your studies. Whether you're a beginner (child or adult), advanced player, returning to the cello after a hiatus, or anywhere in between, I will work with you to tailor our lessons to fit your needs and help you play with as much ease and fluidity as possible.

I'm a member of the Hausmann Quartet, The Knights chamber orchestra, San Diego Baroque Soloists, and appear frequently with Bach Collegium San Diego and on the Art of Elan and San Diego New Music concert series, among others. I teach cello and chamber music at San Diego State University as well as privately.

About Alex
I enjoy a diverse and adventurous musical life, here in San Diego and around the world. As a member of the Hausmann Quartet I'm an Artist-in-Residence at San Diego State University, where I teach cello and chamber music. As a long-time member of The Knights chamber orchestra (based in Brooklyn) I've performed throughout the U.S. and Europe, from New York to Vienna, Ireland, Germany and the Canary Islands, and appeared at the festivals of Caramoor, Dresden, Ojai, Ravinia, Tanglewood, and last season in Aix-en-Provence and the Elbphilharmonie in Hamburg. I've recorded for Ancalagon, Bridge, Canary Classics, Cantaloupe, In a Circle, Koch, Naxos, Warner Classics and Sony records.

I'm a committed educator who's been teaching cello for twenty years, and enjoy working with students of all levels and ages to help them fulfill their musical goa
ls and dreams. I regularly coach individuals and groups of pre-college students at the Hausmann Chamber Music Program (at SDSU's Community Music School) and adults as part of the Hausmann Quartet's Living Room Program of community chamber music.

My varied interests have led to collaborations with dance companies, recordings for film, television and commercials, early music work and performances throughout Mexico. Locally, I'm a founding member of the San Diego Baroque Soloists, a mainstay on the Art of √Član series, an affiliated artist with San Diego New Music and appear regularly with Bach Collegium San Diego. He has been very patient with my daughter. He makes the lessons fun. Her skill level has steadily improved and can be directly attributed to lessons with Alex.
