I have been teaching trumpet lessons now for 25 years. I have been involved in some professional playing in the past and on numerous recordings. I enjoy watching students learn and actually make progress in their playing as they listen to a teacher's advice. I focus on breathing, sound, and technique, which are the building blocks of a successful trumpet player. I do teach primarily from a classical perspective and do not perform or teach jazz playing. Our 5 year old son has been taking trumpet lessons with Beckie now for 3 months. He has done amazing progress, is eager to practice every day in order to please her, and looks forward to each lesson. Beckie is incredibly encouraging, kind, yet strict enough to keep child's play away from the lesson, and finds ways to make a small child understand the basics of music theory. She balances the lesson nicely between actual playing and theory, never tiring out the student too much with either one. She's reliable, always on time, and communicates very well with both student and parents about any wishes we may have. She makes our son feel special, and he is very sad having to leave her, as we are moving out of the country this summer. His own words being: "Isn't it sad that I'll have to stop my lessons with Beckie, now that we've just gotten started - I really like the way she teaches."
