Classical Piano Lessons in Wesley. Amazing Teachers.

Music has been my passion since starting piano and violin lessons aged 7, and then training for years in performance, composition and theory, culminating in a master's degree from the Royal Academy of Music in London, England. My main concerns for students are enjoyment, developing musicality and technique, and learning to read music well. I teach music from different periods in history, including music being composed today. I work with children aged 5 and up, and adults. All levels of experience, including beginners, are welcome. I have taught in schools and privately in my home studio, where I have an upright acoustic Schulze Pollmann (German/Italian) piano and a Yamaha keyboard with weighted keys. I am Ms. Rodshida. I have been playing classical music since the age of 3 years old, under the instruction of the Late Dr. Gary Rutkowski at Presbyterian College. I received a bachelor of arts degree in music from the University of South Carolina. As an accomplished musician, I've received many outstanding awards. the American Scholar Award, American Musicians Guild diploma, and recognized as a high achiever in the music field. I have students that have made history as a prodigy of SC. My motto is: Never say you can not do something because anything is possible with the right practice.

My primary lessons can begin with a lesson book or by ear training. It is up to the student to decide which method works best. The basic lessons for beginners, in most cases, will require some form of music notation and theory to understand what makes music happen. Ear training is a method used for those who have some basic knowledge of music or who can sight read already. My music teaching method is personal and uniquely developed and designed from over 20 years of personal music teaching to both children and adults.

I offer music lessons in the lower Hudson Valley region as well as remotely via Skype or FaceTime.

I have decades of experience working with students of all ages and levels and I often prepare students for recitals and NYSMMA competitions. I do not use a cookie-cutter method for instruction. Lessons are tailored to meet the specific needs of each student and taught in a comfortable and friendly teaching environment.

Even before my time at Berklee, I spent years striving to put myself into every musical situation possible. This gave me a multi-perspective understanding that allows me to comfortably advise students of all ages and backgrounds regarding several different instruments, styles, and theoretical concepts.
