Private Classical Piano Teacher
Music has been my passion since starting piano and violin lessons aged 7, and then training for years in performance, composition and theory, culminating in a master's degree from the Royal Academy of Music in London, England. My main concerns for students are enjoyment, developing musicality and technique, and learning to read music well. I teach music from different periods in history, including music being composed today. I work with children aged 5 and up, and adults. All levels of experience, including beginners, are welcome. I have taught in schools and privately in my home studio, where I have an upright acoustic Schulze Pollmann (German/Italian) piano and a Yamaha keyboard with weighted keys. Positive reinforcement is my teaching philosophy, and customer satisfaction my top priority! Check out my availability and let’s get started!
About Karen
My name is Karen and I'm an experienced piano teacher and composer with a conservatory education. I welcome students aged 5 years and up, and with all levels of experience. I am an enthusiastic, encouraging teacher who will help you achieve your goals as a musician.

My primary lessons can begin with a lesson book or by ear training. It is up to the student to decide which method works best. The basic lessons for beginners, in most cases, will require some form of music notation and theory to understand what makes music happen. Ear training is a method used for those who have some basic knowledge of music or who can sight read already. My music teaching method is personal and uniquely developed and designed from over 20 years of personal music teaching to both children and adults.
About Clayton
I am currently a church organist and have over 20 years of experience in teaching children and adults piano and organ lessons. My methods are traditional and contemporary. I received my Bachelors of Music Degree from Marygrove College located in Detroit, MI, and also an Associate Degree in Music

Even before my time at Berklee, I spent years striving to put myself into every musical situation possible. This gave me a multi-perspective understanding that allows me to comfortably advise students of all ages and backgrounds regarding several different instruments, styles, and theoretical concepts.
My favorite part about teaching, regardless of discipline, is the fact that it allows me to keep growing and learning while sharing my experiences to help others do the same. So whether you want to work on jazz, pop, or classical, feel free to reach out, and I will happily customize and create the learning environment that you desire!

Over the past 12 years, we've given over 3,000,000 lessons to happy customers around the world.

Aside from technique, each lesson was equivalent to a college course in music theory. She understands that technique is only half of playing an instrument and the importance of knowing the reason each note falls where it does. This may sound overwhelming, but Angela never gives you more than you can handle, while challenging you to improve at a rapid pace. It was an extremely gratifying experience and I am thrilled at the progress that I made in under a year."

From a beginner piano player to a more advanced pianist, we can ALL benefit from working on our technique. It is and should be, a continual process that is consistent and regular. Technique is how we execute the notes on the page with our fingers, our hands, and our whole body. It is important to note that if you want to improve your playing ability, then work on the proper technique of your body and hand position and include it in your daily practice routine to develop good habits and lon …
